1:1 The Word of Yahweh that came to Joel, the son of Pethuel. 1 The word of the LORD that came to Joel the son of Pethuel. 1 ペトエルの子ヨエルに臨んだ主の言葉。
1:2 Hear this, you elders, And listen, all you inhabitants of the land. Has this ever happened in your days,or in the days of your fathers? 2 Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers? 2 老人たちよ、これを聞け。すべてこの地に住む者よ、耳を傾けよ。あなたがたの世、またはあなたがたの先祖の世にこのような事があったか。
1:3 Tell your children about it, and have your children tell their children,and their children, another generation. 3 Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation. 3 これをあなたがたの子たちに語り、子たちはまたその子たちに語り、その子たちはまたこれを後の代に語り伝えよ。
1:4 What the swarming locust has left, the great locust has eaten. What the great locust has left, the grasshopper has eaten.What the grasshopper has left, the caterpillar has eaten. 4 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten. 4 かみ食らういなごの残したものは、群がるいなごがこれを食い、群がるいなごの残したものは、とびいなごがこれを食い、とびいなごの残したものは、滅ぼすいなごがこれを食った。
1:5 Wake up, you drunkards, and weep! Wail, all you drinkers of wine, because of the sweet wine;for it is cut off from your mouth. 5 Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth. 5 酔える者よ、目をさまして泣け。すべて酒を飲む者よ、うまい酒のゆえに泣き叫べ。うまい酒はあなたがたの口から断たれるからだ。
1:6 For a nation has come up on my land, strong, and without number. His teeth are the teeth of a lion,and he has the fangs of a lioness. 6 For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion. 6 一つの国民がわたしの国に攻めのぼってきた。その勢いは強く、その数は計られず、その歯はししの歯のようで、雌じしのきばをもっている。
1:7 He has laid my vine waste, and stripped my fig tree.He has stripped its bark, and thrown it away. Its branches are made white. 7 He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white. 7 彼らはわがぶどうの木を荒し、わがいちじくの木を折り、その皮をはだかにして捨てた。その枝は白くなった。
1:8 Mourn like a virgin dressed in sackcloth for the husband of her youth! 8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth. 8 あなたがたは若い時の夫のために荒布を腰にまとったおとめのように泣き悲しめ。
1:9 The meal offering and the drink offering are cut off from Yahweh’s house. The priests, Yahweh’s ministers, mourn. 9 The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD's ministers, mourn. 9 素祭と灌祭とは主の家に絶え、主に仕える祭司たちは嘆き悲しむ。
1:10 The field is laid waste. The land mourns, for the grain is destroyed,The new wine has dried up, and the oil languishes. 10 The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth. 10 畑は荒れ、地は悲しむ。これは穀物が荒れはて、新しい酒は尽き、油も絶えるためである。
1:11 Be confounded, you farmers! Wail, you vineyard keepers; for the wheat and for the barley;for the harvest of the field has perished. 11 Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished. 11 小麦および大麦のために、農夫たちよ、恥じよ、ぶどう作りたちよ、泣け。畑の収穫がうせ去ったからである。
1:12 The vine has dried up, and the fig tree withered; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree,even all of the trees of the field are withered; for joy has withered away from the sons of men. 12 The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men. 12 ぶどうの木は枯れ、いちじくの木はしおれ、ざくろ、やし、りんご、野のすべての木はしぼんだ。それゆえ楽しみは人の子らからかれうせた。
1:13 Put on sackcloth and mourn, you priests! Wail, you ministers of the altar. Come, lie all night in sackcloth, you ministers of my [#N2 God],for the meal offering and the drink offering are withheld from your God’s house. 13 Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God. 13 祭司たちよ、荒布を腰にまとい、泣き悲しめ。祭壇に仕える者たちよ、泣け。神に仕える者たちよ、来て、荒布をまとい、夜を過ごせ。素祭も灌祭もあなたがたの神の家から退けられたからである。
1:14 Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly.Gather the elders, and all the inhabitants of the land, to the house of Yahweh, your God,and cry to Yahweh. 14 Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD, 14 あなたがたは断食を聖別し、聖会を召集し、長老たちを集め、国の民をことごとくあなたがたの神、主の家に集め、主に向かって叫べ。
1:15 Alas for the day! For the day of Yahweh is at hand,and it will come as destruction from the Almighty. 15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. 15 ああ、その日はわざわいだ。主の日は近く、全能者からの滅びのように来るからである。
1:16 Isn’t the food cut off before our eyes; joy and gladness from the house of our God? 16 Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God? 16 われわれの目の前に食物は絶え、われわれの神の家から喜びと楽しみが絶えたではないか。
1:17 The seeds rot under their clods. The granaries are laid desolate. The barns are broken down, for the grain has withered. 17 The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered. 17 種は土の下に朽ち、倉は荒れ、穀物がつきたので、穀倉はこわされる。
1:18 How the animals groan! The herds of livestock are perplexed, because they have no pasture. Yes, the flocks of sheep are made desolate. 18 How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate. 18 いかに家畜はうめき鳴くか。牛の群れはさまよう。彼らには牧草がないからだ。羊の群れも滅びうせる。
1:19 Yahweh, I cry to you, For the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame has burned all the trees of the field. 19 O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field. 19 主よ、わたしはあなたに向かって呼ばわる。火が荒野の牧草を焼き滅ぼし、炎が野のすべての木を焼き尽したからである。
1:20 Yes, the animals of the field pant to you, for the water brooks have dried up, And the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness. 20 The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness. 20 野の獣もまたあなたに向かって呼ばわる。水の流れがかれはて、火が荒野の牧草を焼き滅ぼしたからである

2:1 Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble,for the day of Yahweh comes, for it is close at hand: 1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; 1 あなたがたはシオンでラッパを吹け。わが聖なる山で警報を吹きならせ。国の民はみな、ふるいわななけ。主の日が来るからである。それは近い。
2:2 A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness. As the dawn spreading on the mountains,a great and strong people; there has never been the like,neither will there be any more after them, even to the years of many generations. 2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. 2 これは暗く、薄暗い日、雲の群がるまっくらな日である。多くの強い民が暗やみのようにもろもろの山をおおう。このようなことは昔からあったことがなく、後の代々の年にも再び起ることがないであろう。
2:3 A fire devours before them, and behind them, a flame burns. The land is as the garden of Eden before them,and behind them, a desolate wilderness. Yes, and no one has escaped them. 3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. 3 火は彼らの前を焼き、炎は彼らの後に燃える。彼らのこない前には、地はエデンの園のようであるが、その去った後は荒れ果てた野のようになる。これをのがれうるものは一つもない。
2:4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses, and as horsemen, so do they run. 4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. 4 そのかたちは馬のかたちのようであり、その走ることは軍馬のようである。
2:5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains do they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devours the stubble,as a strong people set in battle array. 5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array. 5 山の頂でとびおどる音は、戦車のとどろくようである。また刈り株を焼く火の炎の音のようであり、戦いの備えをした強い軍隊のようである。
2:6 At their presence the peoples are in anguish. All faces have grown pale. 6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness. 6 その前にもろもろの民はなやみ、すべての顔は色を失う。
2:7 They run like mighty men. They climb the wall like warriors. They each march in his line, and they don’t swerve off course. 7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: 7 彼らは勇士のように走り、兵士のように城壁によじ登る。彼らはおのおの自分の道を進んで行って、その道を踏みはずさない。
2:8 Neither does one jostle another; they march everyone in his path, and they burst through the defenses,and don’t break ranks. 8 Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded. 8 彼らは互におしあわず、おのおのその道を進み行く。彼らは武器の中にとびこんでも、身をそこなわない。
2:9 They rush on the city. They run on the wall.They climb up into the houses. They enter in at the windows like thieves. 9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief. 9 彼らは町にとび入り、城壁の上を走り、家々によじ登り、盗びとのように窓からはいる。
2:10 The earth quakes before them. The heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened,and the stars withdraw their shining. 10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: 10 地は彼らの前におののき、天はふるい、日も月も暗くなり、星はその光を失う。
2:11 Yahweh thunders his voice before his army; for his forces are very great;for he is strong who obeys his command; for the day of Yahweh is great and very awesome,and who can endure it? 11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it? 11 主はその軍勢の前で声をあげられる。その軍隊は非常に多いからである。そのみ言葉をなし遂げる者は強い。主の日は大いにして、はなはだ恐ろしいゆえ、だれがこれに耐えることができよう。
2:12 “Yet even now,” says Yahweh, “turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.” 12 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: 12 主は言われる、「今からでも、あなたがたは心をつくし、断食と嘆きと、悲しみとをもってわたしに帰れ。
2:13 Tear your heart, and not your garments, and turn to Yahweh, your God; for he is gracious and merciful,slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents from sending calamity. 13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. 13 あなたがたは衣服ではなく、心を裂け」。あなたがたの神、主に帰れ。主は恵みあり、あわれみあり、怒ることがおそく、いつくしみが豊かで、災を思いかえされるからである。
2:14 Who knows? He may turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal offering and a drink offering to Yahweh, your God. 14 Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God? 14 神があるいは立ち返り、思いかえして祝福をその後に残し、素祭と灌祭とをあなたがたの神、主にささげさせられる事はないとだれが知るだろうか。
2:15 Blow the trumpet in Zion! Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly. 15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly: 15 シオンでラッパを吹きならせ。断食を聖別し、聖会を召集し、
2:16 Gather the people. Sanctify the assembly. Assemble the elders.Gather the children, and those who suck the breasts. Let the bridegroom go forth from his room,and the bride out of her chamber. 16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet. 16 民を集め、会衆を聖別し、老人たちを集め、幼な子、乳のみ子を集め、花婿をその家から呼びだし、花嫁をそのへやから呼びだせ。
2:17 Let the priests, the ministers of Yahweh, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, “Spare your people, Yahweh,and don’t give your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them.Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’” 17 Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God? 17 主に仕える祭司たちは、廊と祭壇との間で泣いて言え、「主よ、あなたの民をゆるし、あなたの嗣業をもろもろの国民のうちに、そしりと笑い草にさせないでください。どうしてもろもろの国民に、『彼らの神はどこにいるのか』と言わせてよいでしょうか」。
2:18 Then Yahweh was jealous for his land, And had pity on his people. 18 Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people. 18 その時主は自分の地のために、ねたみを起し、その民をあわれまれた。
2:19 Yahweh answered his people, “Behold, I will send you grain, new wine, and oil,and you will be satisfied with them; and I will no more make you a reproach among the nations. 19 Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen: 19 主は答えて、その民に言われた、「見よ、わたしは穀物と新しい酒と油とをあなたがたに送る。あなたがたはこれを食べて飽きるであろう。わたしは重ねてあなたがたにもろもろの国民のうちでそしりを受けさせない。
2:20 But I will remove the northern army far away from you, and will drive it into a barren and desolate land, its front into the eastern sea,and its back into the western sea; and its stench will come up,and its bad smell will rise.” Surely he has done great things. 20 But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things. 20 わたしは北から来る者をあなたがたから遠ざけ、これをかわいた荒れ地に追いやり、その前の者を東の海に、その後の者を西の海に追いやる。その臭いにおいは起り、その悪しきにおいは上る。これは大いなる事をしたからである。
2:21 Land, don’t be afraid. Be glad and rejoice, for Yahweh has done great things. 21 Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things. 21 地よ恐るな、喜び楽しめ、主は大いなる事を行われたからである。
2:22 Don’t be afraid, you animals of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness spring up,for the tree bears its fruit. The fig tree and the vine yield their strength. 22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength. 22 野のもろもろの獣よ、恐るな。荒野の牧草はもえいで、木はその実を結び、いちじくの木とぶどうの木とは豊かに実る。
2:23 “Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in Yahweh, your God; for he gives you the former rain in just measure,and he causes the rain to come down for you, the former rain and the latter rain,as before. 23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. 23 シオンの子らよ、あなたがたの神、主によって喜び楽しめ。主はあなたがたを義とするために秋の雨を賜い、またあなたがたのために豊かに雨を降らせ、前のように、秋の雨と春の雨とを降らせられる。
2:24 The threshing floors will be full of wheat, and the vats will overflow with new wine and oil. 24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil. 24 打ち場は穀物で満ち、石がめは新しい酒と油とであふれる。
2:25 I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the great locust, the grasshopper, and the caterpillar, my great army, which I sent among you. 25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. 25 わたしがあなたがたに送った大軍、すなわち群がるいなご、とびいなご、滅ぼすいなご、かみ食らういなごの食った年をわたしはあなたがたに償う。
2:26 You will have plenty to eat, and be satisfied, and will praise the name of Yahweh, your God, who has dealt wondrously with you;and my people will never again be disappointed. 26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. 26 あなたがたは、じゅうぶん食べて飽き、あなたがたに不思議なわざをなされたあなたがたの神、主のみ名をほめたたえる。わが民は永遠にはずかしめられることがない。
2:27 You will know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am Yahweh, your God, and there is no one else;and my people will never again be disappointed. 27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. 27 あなたがたはイスラエルのうちにわたしのいることを知り、主なるわたしがあなたがたの神であって、ほかにないことを知る。わが民は永遠にはずかしめられることがない。
2:28 “It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy.Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions. 28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 28 その後わたしはわが霊をすべての肉なる者に注ぐ。あなたがたのむすこ、娘は預言をし、あなたがたの老人たちは夢を見、あなたがたの若者たちは幻を見る。
2:29 And also on the servants and on the handmaids in those days, I will pour out my Spirit. 29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. 29 その日わたしはまたわが霊をしもべ、はしために注ぐ。
2:30 I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: blood, fire, and pillars of smoke. 30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 30 わたしはまた、天と地とにしるしを示す。すなわち血と、火と、煙の柱とがあるであろう。
2:31 The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Yahweh comes. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come. 31 主の大いなる恐るべき日が来る前に、日は暗く、月は血に変る。
2:32 It will happen that whoever will call on the name of Yahweh shall be saved; for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be those who escape, as Yahweh has said,and among the remnant, those whom Yahweh calls. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call. 32 すべて主の名を呼ぶ者は救われる。それは主が言われたように、シオンの山とエルサレムとに、のがれる者があるからである。その残った者のうちに、主のお召しになる者がある。

3:1 “For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, 1 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, 1 見よ、わたしがユダとエルサレムとの幸福をもとに返すその日、その時、
3:2 I will gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat;and I will execute judgment on them there for my people, and for my heritage, Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations.They have divided my land, 2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. 2 わたしは万国の民を集めて、これをヨシャパテの谷に携えくだり、その所でわが民、わが嗣業であるイスラエルのために彼らをさばく。彼らがわが民を諸国民のうちに散らして、わたしの地を分かち取ったからである。
3:3 and have cast lots for my people,and have given a boy for a prostitute, and sold a girl for wine, that they may drink. 3 And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink. 3 彼らはわが民をくじ引きにし、遊女のために少年をわたし、酒のために少女を売って飲んだ。
3:4 “Yes, and what are you to me, Tyre, and Sidon, and all the regions of Philistia? Will you repay me? And if you repay me, I will swiftly and speedily return your repayment on your own head. 4 Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head; 4 ツロとシドンよ、ペリシテのすべての地方よ、おまえたちは、わたしとなんのかかわりがあるか。おまえたちはわたしに報復をしようとするのか。もしおまえたちがわたしに報復しようとするなら、わたしは時をうつさず、すみやかに、おまえたちのおこないの報復をおまえたちの頭上にこさせる。
3:5 Because you have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried my finest treasures into your temples, 5 Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things: 5 これはおまえたちがわたしの銀と金とをとり、わたしの貴重な宝をおまえたちの宮に携え行き、
3:6 and have sold the children of Judah and the children of Jerusalem to the sons of the Greeks,that you may remove them far from their border. 6 The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border. 6 またユダの人々とエルサレムの人々とをギリシヤびとに売って、その本国から遠く離れさせたからである。
3:7 Behold, I will stir them up out of the place where you have sold them, and will return your repayment on your own head; 7 Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompence upon your own head: 7 見よ、わたしはおまえたちが売ったその所から彼らを起して、おまえたちのおこないの報復をおまえたちの頭上にこさせる。
3:8 and I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hands of the children of Judah, and they will sell them to the men of Sheba, to a faraway nation,for Yahweh has spoken it.” 8 And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it. 8 わたしはおまえたちのむすこ娘たちをユダの人々の手に売る。彼らはこれを遠い国びとであるシバびとに売ると、主は言われる」。
3:9 Proclaim this among the nations: “Prepare for war! Stir up the mighty men. Let all the warriors draw near.Let them come up. 9 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: 9 もろもろの国民の中に宣べ伝えよ。戦いの備えをなし、勇士をふるい立たせ、兵士をことごとく近づかせ、のぼらせよ。
3:10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears.Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’ 10 Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong. 10 あなたがたのすきを、つるぎに、あなたがたのかまを、やりに打ちかえよ。弱い者に「わたしは勇士である」と言わせよ。
3:11 Hurry and come, all you surrounding nations, and gather yourselves together.”Cause your mighty ones to come down there, Yahweh. 11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD. 11 周囲のすべての国民よ、急ぎ来て、集まれ。主よ、あなたの勇士をかしこにお下しください。
3:12 “Let the nations arouse themselves, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat;for there will I sit to judge all the surrounding nations. 12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about. 12 もろもろの国民をふるい立たせ、ヨシャパテの谷にのぼらせよ。わたしはそこに座して、周囲のすべての国民をさばく。
3:13 Put in the sickle; for the harvest is ripe.Come, tread, for the winepress is full, the vats overflow, for their wickedness is great.” 13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. 13 かまを入れよ、作物は熟した。来て踏め、酒ぶねは満ち、石がめはあふれている。彼らの悪が大きいからだ。
3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of Yahweh is near, in the valley of decision. 14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision. 14 群衆また群衆は、さばきの谷におる。主の日がさばきの谷に近いからである。
3:15 The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining. 15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. 15 日も月も暗くなり、星もその光を失う。
3:16 Yahweh will roar from Zion, and thunder from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth will shake;but Yahweh will be a refuge to his people, and a stronghold to the children of Israel. 16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. 16 主はシオンから大声で叫び、エルサレムから声を出される。天も地もふるい動く。しかし主はその民の避け所、イスラエルの人々のとりでである。
3:17 “So you will know that I am Yahweh, your God, dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain. Then Jerusalem will be holy,and no strangers will pass through her any more. 17 So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more. 17 「そこであなたがたは知るであろう、わたしはあなたがたの神、主であって、わが聖なる山シオンに住むことを。エルサレムは聖所となり、他国人は重ねてその中を通ることがない。
3:18 It will happen in that day, that the mountains will drop down sweet wine,the hills will flow with milk, all the brooks of Judah will flow with waters,and a fountain will come forth from the house of Yahweh, and will water the valley of Shittim. 18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth out of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim. 18 その日もろもろの山にうまい酒がしたたり、もろもろの丘は乳を流し、ユダのすべての川は水を流す。泉は主の家から出て、シッテムの谷を潤す。
3:19 Egypt will be a desolation, and Edom will be a desolate wilderness, for the violence done to the children of Judah,because they have shed innocent blood in their land. 19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land. 19 エジプトは荒れ地となり、エドムは荒野となる。彼らはその国でユダの人々をしえたげ、罪なき者の血を流したからである。
3:20 But Judah will be inhabited forever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation. 20 But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation. 20 しかしユダは永遠に人の住む所となり、エルサレムは世々に保つ。
3:21 I will cleanse their blood, that I have not cleansed: for Yahweh dwells in Zion.” 21 For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwelleth in Zion. 21 わたしは彼らに血の報復をなし、とがある者をゆるさない。主はシオンに住まわれる」。
