1:1 The oracle which Habakkuk the prophet saw. 1 The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see. 1 預言者ハバククが見た神の託宣。
1:2 Yahweh, how long will I cry, and you will not hear? I cry out to you “Violence!” and will you not save? 2 O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save! 2 主よ、わたしが呼んでいるのに、いつまであなたは聞きいれて下さらないのか。わたしはあなたに「暴虐がある」と訴えたが、あなたは助けて下さらないのか。
1:3 Why do you show me iniquity, and look at perversity? For destruction and violence are before me. There is strife, and contention rises up. 3 Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention. 3 あなたは何ゆえ、わたしによこしまを見せ、何ゆえ、わたしに災を見せられるのか。略奪と暴虐がわたしの前にあり、また論争があり、闘争も起っている。
1:4 Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never goes forth; for the wicked surround the righteous; therefore justice goes forth perverted. 4 Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth. 4 それゆえ、律法はゆるみ、公義は行われず、悪人は義人を囲み、公義は曲げて行われている。
1:5 “Look among the nations, watch, and wonder marvelously; for I am working a work in your days, which you will not believe though it is told you. 5 Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvelously: for I will work a work in your days which ye will not believe, though it be told you. 5 諸国民のうちを望み見て、驚け、そして怪しめ。わたしはあなたがたの日に一つの事をする。人がこの事を知らせても、あなたがたはとうてい信じまい。
1:6 For, behold, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, that march through the breadth of the earth, to possess dwelling places that are not theirs. 6 For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not their's. 6 見よ、わたしはカルデヤびとを興す。これはたけく、激しい国民であって、地を縦横に行きめぐり、自分たちのものでないすみかを奪う。
1:7 They are feared and dreaded. Their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves. 7 They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves. 7 これはきびしく、恐ろしく、そのさばきと威厳とは彼ら自身から出る。
1:8 Their horses also are swifter than leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves. Their horsemen press proudly on. Yes, their horsemen come from afar. They fly as an eagle that hurries to devour. 8 Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat. 8 その馬はひょうよりも速く、夜のおおかみよりも荒い。その騎兵は威勢よく進む。すなわち、その騎兵は遠い所から来る。彼らは物を食おうと急ぐわしのように飛ぶ。
1:9 All of them come for violence. Their hordes face the desert. He gathers prisoners like sand. 9 They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand. 9 彼らはみな暴虐のために来る。彼らを恐れる恐れが彼らの前を行く。彼らはとりこを砂のように集める。
1:10 Yes, he scoffs at kings, and princes are a derision to him. He laughs at every stronghold, for he builds up an earthen ramp, and takes it. 10 And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it. 10 彼らは王たちを侮り、つかさたちをあざける。彼らはすべての城をあざ笑い、土を積み上げてこれを奪う。
1:11 Then he sweeps by like the wind, and goes on. He is indeed guilty, whose strength is his god.” 11 Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power unto his god. 11 こうして、彼らは風のようになぎ倒して行き過ぎる。彼らは罪深い者で、おのれの力を神となす。
1:12 Aren’t you from everlasting, Yahweh my God, my Holy One? We will not die. Yahweh, you have appointed him for judgment. You, Rock, have established him to punish. 12 Art thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction. 12 わが神、主、わが聖者よ。あなたは永遠からいますかたではありませんか。わたしたちは死んではならない。主よ、あなたは彼らをさばきのために備えられた。岩よ、あなたは彼らを懲らしめのために立てられた。
1:13 You who have purer eyes than to see evil, and who cannot look on perversity, why do you tolerate those who deal treacherously, and keep silent when the wicked swallows up the man who is more righteous than he, 13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he? 13 あなたは目が清く、悪を見られない者、また不義を見られない者であるのに、何ゆえ不真実な者に目をとめていられるのですか。悪しき者が自分よりも正しい者を、のみ食らうのに、何ゆえ黙っていられるのですか。
1:14 and make men like the fish of the sea, like the creeping things, that have no ruler over them? 14 And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them? 14 あなたは人を海の魚のようにし、治める者のない這う虫のようにされる。
1:15 He takes up all of them with the hook. He catches them in his net, and gathers them in his dragnet. Therefore he rejoices and is glad. 15 They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad. 15 彼はつり針でこれをことごとくつり上げ、網でこれを捕え、引き網でこれを集め、こうして彼は喜び楽しむ。
1:16 Therefore he sacrifices to his net, and burns incense to his dragnet, because by them his life is luxurious, and his food is good. 16 Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous. 16 それゆえ、彼はその網に犠牲をささげ、その引き網に香をたく。これによって彼はぜいたくに暮し、その食物も豊かになるからである。
1:17 Will he therefore continually empty his net, and kill the nations without mercy? 17 Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations? 17 それで、彼はいつまでもその網の獲物を取り入れて、無情にも諸国民を殺すのであろうか。

2:1 I will stand at my watch, and set myself on the ramparts, and will look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint. 1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. 1 わたしはわたしの見張所に立ち、物見やぐらに身を置き、望み見て、彼がわたしになんと語られるかを見、またわたしの訴えについてわたし自らなんと答えたらよかろうかを見よう。
2:2 Yahweh answered me, “Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he who runs may read it. 2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. 2 主はわたしに答えて言われた、「この幻を書き、これを板の上に明らかにしるし、走りながらも、これを読みうるようにせよ。
2:3 For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won’t delay. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. 3 この幻はなお定められたときを待ち、終りをさして急いでいる。それは偽りではない。もしおそければ待っておれ。それは必ず臨む。滞りはしない。
2:4 Behold, his soul is puffed up. It is not upright in him, but the righteous will live by his faith. 4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. 4 見よ、その魂の正しくない者は衰える。しかし義人はその信仰によって生きる。
2:5 Yes, moreover, wine is treacherous. A haughty man who doesn’t stay at home, who enlarges his desire as Sheol, and he is like death, and can’t be satisfied, but gathers to himself all nations, and heaps to himself all peoples. 5 Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all people: 5 また、酒は欺くものだ。高ぶる者は定まりがない。彼の欲は陰府のように広い。彼は死のようであって、飽くことなく、万国をおのれに集め、万民をおのれのものとしてつどわせる」。
2:6 Won’t all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases that which is not his, and who enriches himself by extortion! How long?’ 6 Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and to him that ladeth himself with thick clay! 6 これらは皆ことわざをもって彼をあざけり、あざけりのなぞをもって彼をあざ笑わないだろうか。すなわち言う、「わざわいなるかな、おのれに属さないものを増し加える者よ。いつまでこのようであろうか。質物でおのれを重くする者よ」。
2:7 Won’t your debtors rise up suddenly, and wake up those who make you tremble, and you will be their victim? 7 Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booties unto them? 7 あなたの負債者は、にわかに興らないであろうか。あなたを激しくゆすぶる者は目ざめないであろうか。その時あなたは彼らにかすめられる。
2:8 Because you have plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples will plunder you, because of men’s blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all who dwell in it. 8 Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil thee; because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein. 8 あなたは多くの国民をかすめたゆえ、そのもろもろの民の残れる者は皆あなたをかすめる。これは人の血を流し、国と町と、その中に住むすべての者に暴虐を行ったからである。
2:9 Woe to him who gets an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil! 9 Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil! 9 わざわいなるかな、災の手を免れるために高い所に巣を構えようと、おのが家のために不義の利を取る者よ。
2:10 You have devised shame to your house, by cutting off many peoples, and have sinned against your soul. 10 Thou hast consulted shame to thy house by cutting off many people, and hast sinned against thy soul. 10 あなたは事をはかって自分の家に恥を招き、多くの民を滅ぼして、自分の生命を失った。
2:11 For the stone will cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the woodwork will answer it. 11 For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it. 11 石は石がきから叫び、梁は建物からこれに答えるからである。
2:12 Woe to him who builds a town with blood, and establishes a city by iniquity! 12 Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a city by iniquity! 12 わざわいなるかな、血をもって町を建て、悪をもって町を築く者よ。
2:13 Behold, isn’t it of Yahweh of Armies that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity? 13 Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity? 13 見よ、もろもろの民は火のために労し、もろもろの国びとはむなしい事のために疲れる。これは万軍の主から出る言葉ではないか。
2:14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh, as the waters cover the sea. 14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. 14 海が水でおおわれているように、地は主の栄光の知識で満たされるからである。
2:15 “Woe to him who gives his neighbor drink, pouring your inflaming wine until they are drunk, so that you may gaze at their naked bodies! 15 Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness! 15 わざわいなるかな、その隣り人に怒りの杯を飲ませて、これを酔わせ、彼らの隠し所を見ようとする者よ。
2:16 You are filled with shame, and not glory. You will also drink, and be exposed! The cup of Yahweh’s right hand will come around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory. 16 Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the LORD's right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful spewing shall be on thy glory. 16 あなたは誉の代りに恥に飽き、あなたもまた飲んでよろめけ。主の右の手の杯は、あなたに巡り来る。恥はあなたの誉に代る。
2:17 For the violence done to Lebanon will overwhelm you, and the destruction of the animals, which made them afraid; because of men’s blood, and for the violence done to the land, to every city and to those who dwell in them. 17 For the violence of Lebanon shall cover thee, and the spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein. 17 あなたがレバノンになした暴虐は、あなたを倒し、獣のような滅亡は、あなたを恐れさせる。これは人の血を流し、国と町と、町の中に住むすべての者に、暴虐を行ったからである。
2:18 “What value does the engraved image have, that its maker has engraved it; the molten image, even the teacher of lies, that he who fashions its form trusts in it, to make mute idols? 18 What profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols? 18 刻める像、鋳像および偽りを教える者は、その作者がこれを刻んだとてなんの益があろうか。その作者が物言わぬ偶像を造って、その造ったものに頼んでみても、なんの益があろうか。
2:19 Woe to him who says to the wood, ‘Awake!’ or to the mute stone, ‘Arise!’ Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in its midst. 19 Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it. 19 わざわいなるかな、木に向かって、さめよと言い、物言わぬ石に向かって、起きよと言う者よ。これは黙示を与え得ようか。見よ、これは金銀をきせたもので、その中には命の息は少しもない。
2:20 But Yahweh is in his holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before him!” 20 But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him. 20 しかし、主はその聖なる宮にいます、全地はそのみ前に沈黙せよ。

3:1 A prayer of Habakkuk, the prophet, set to victorious music. 1 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth. 1 シギヨノテの調べによる、預言者ハバククの祈。
3:2 Yahweh, I have heard of your fame. I stand in awe of your deeds, Yahweh. Renew your work in the midst of the years.In the midst of the years make it known. In wrath, you remember mercy. 2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy. 2 主よ、わたしはあなたのことを聞きました。主よ、わたしはあなたのみわざを見て恐れます。この年のうちにこれを新たにし、この年のうちにこれを知らせてください。怒る時にもあわれみを思いおこしてください。
3:3 God came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah.His glory covered the heavens, and his praise filled the earth. 3 God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. 3:4 His splendor is like the sunrise. Rays shine from his hand, where his power is hidden. 4 And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power. 4 その輝きは光のようであり、その光は彼の手からほとばしる。かしこにその力を隠す。
3:5 Plague went before him, and pestilence followed his feet. 5 Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet. 5 疫病はその前に行き、熱病はその後に従う。
3:6 He stood, and shook the earth. He looked, and made the nations tremble. The ancient mountains were crumbled.The age-old hills collapsed. His ways are eternal. 6 He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting. 6 彼は立って、地をはかり、彼は見て、諸国民をおののかせられる。とこしえの山は散らされ、永遠の丘は沈む。彼の道は昔のとおりである。
3:7 I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction. The dwellings of the land of Midian trembled. 7 I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: and the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble. 7 わたしが見ると、クシャンの天幕に悩みがあり、ミデアンの国の幕は震う。
3:8 Was Yahweh displeased with the rivers? Was your anger against the rivers,or your wrath against the sea, that you rode on your horses,on your chariots of salvation? 8 Was the LORD displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of salvation? 8 主よ、あなたが馬に乗り、勝利の戦車に乗られる時、あなたは川に向かって怒られるのか。川に向かって憤られるのか。あるいは海に向かって立腹されるのか。
3:9 You uncovered your bow. You called for your sworn arrows.Selah. You split the earth with rivers. 9 Thy bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers. 9 あなたの弓は取り出された。矢は、弦につがえられた。〔セラ あなたは川をもって地を裂かれた。
3:10 The mountains saw you, and were afraid. The storm of waters passed by. The deep roared and lifted up its hands on high. 10 The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his hands on high. 10 山々はあなたを見て震い、荒れ狂う水は流れいで、淵は声を出して、その手を高くあげた。
3:11 The sun and moon stood still in the sky, at the light of your arrows as they went, at the shining of your glittering spear. 11 The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear. 11 飛び行くあなたの矢の光のために、電光のようにきらめく、あなたのやりのために、日も月もそのすみかに立ち止まった。
3:12 You marched through the land in wrath. You threshed the nations in anger. 12 Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger. 12 あなたは憤って地を行きめぐり、怒って諸国民を踏みつけられた。
3:13 You went forth for the salvation of your people, for the salvation of your anointed.You crushed the head of the land of wickedness. You stripped them head to foot.Selah. 13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah. 13 あなたはあなたの民を救うため、あなたの油そそいだ者を救うために出て行かれた。あなたは悪しき者の頭を砕き、彼を腰から首まで裸にされた。〔セラ 
3:14 You pierced the heads of his warriors with their own spears. They came as a whirlwind to scatter me,gloating as if to devour the wretched in secret. 14 Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: their rejoicing was as to devour the poor secretly. 14 あなたはあなたのやりで将軍の首を刺しとおされた。彼らはわたしを散らそうとして、つむじ風のように来、貧しい者をひそかに、のみ滅ぼすことを楽しみとした。
3:15 You trampled the sea with your horses, churning mighty waters. 15 Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses, through the heap of great waters. 15 あなたはあなたの馬を使って、海と大水のさかまくところを踏みつけられた。
3:16 I heard, and my body trembled. My lips quivered at the voice. Rottenness enters into my bones, and I tremble in my place,because I must wait quietly for the day of trouble, for the coming up of the people who invade us. 16 When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops. 16 わたしは聞いて、わたしのからだはわななき、わたしのくちびるはその声を聞いて震える。腐れはわたしの骨に入り、わたしの歩みは、わたしの下によろめく。わたしはわれわれに攻め寄せる民の上に悩みの日の臨むのを静かに待とう。
3:17 For though the fig tree doesn’t flourish, nor fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive fails,the fields yield no food; the flocks are cut off from the fold,and there is no herd in the stalls: 17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: 17 いちじくの木は花咲かず、ぶどうの木は実らず、オリブの木の産はむなしくなり、田畑は食物を生ぜず、おりには羊が絶え、牛舎には牛がいなくなる。
3:18 yet I will rejoice in Yahweh. I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! 18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. 18 しかし、わたしは主によって楽しみ、わが救の神によって喜ぶ。
3:19 Yahweh, the Lord, is my strength. He makes my feet like deer’s feet, and enables me to go in high places.For the music director, on my stringed instruments. 19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments. 19 主なる神はわたしの力であって、わたしの足を雌じかの足のようにし、わたしに高い所を歩ませられる。これを琴に合わせ、聖歌隊の指揮者によって歌わせる。
