1 Moi, l’Ancien à l’élue Kyria et à ses enfants, que j’aime dans la vérité, — non pas moi seulement, mais aussi tous ceux qui ont connu la vérité, — 1 The elder, to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not I only, but also all those who know the truth; 1 Der Älteste : der auserwählten Frau und ihren Kindern, die ich liebhabe in der Wahrheit, und nicht allein ich sondern auch alle, die die Wahrheit erkannt haben,
2 en considération de la vérité qui demeure en nous, et qui sera éternellement avec nous : 2 for the truth's sake, which remains in us, and it will be with us forever: 2 um der Wahrheit willen, die in uns bleibt und bei uns sein wird in Ewigkeit.
3 la grâce, la miséricorde et la paix soient avec vous de la part de Dieu le Père et de la part de Jésus-Christ, le Fils du Père, dans la vérité et la charité ! 3 Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. 3 Gnade, Barmherzigkeit, Friede von Gott, dem Vater, und von dem Herrn Jesus Christus, dem Sohn des Vaters, in der Wahrheit und in der Liebe, sei mit euch !
4 J’ai eu bien de la joie de rencontrer de tes enfants qui marchent dans la vérité, selon le commandement que nous avons reçu du Père. 4 I rejoice greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, even as we have been commanded by the Father. 4 Ich bin erfreut, daß ich gefunden habe unter deinen Kindern, die in der Wahrheit wandeln, wie denn wir ein Gebot vom Vater empfangen haben.
5 Et maintenant je te le demande, Kyria, — non comme si je te prescrivais un commandement nouveau ; car c’est celui que nous avons reçu dès le commencement, — aimons-nous les uns les autres. 5 Now I beg you, dear lady, not as though I wrote to you a new commandment, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. 5 Und nun bitte ich dich, Frau (nicht als schriebe ich dir ein neues Gebot, sondern das wir gehabt haben von Anfang), daß wir uns untereinander lieben.
6 L’amour consiste à marcher selon ses commandements ; et, c’est là son commandement, comme vous l’avez appris dès le commencement, de marcher dans la charité. 6 This is love, that we should walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, even as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it. 6 Und das ist die Liebe, daß wir wandeln nach seinem Gebot ; das ist das Gebot, wie ihr gehört habt von Anfang, daß ihr in derselben wandeln sollt.
7 Car plusieurs séducteurs ont paru dans le monde ; ils ne confessent point Jésus comme Christ venu en chair : c’est là le séducteur et l’antéchrist. 7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who don't confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the Antichrist. 7 Denn viele Verführer sind in die Welt gekommen, die nicht bekennen Jesum Christum, daß er in das Fleisch gekommen ist. Das ist der Verführer und der Widerchrist.
8 Prenez garde à vous-mêmes, afin que vous ne perdiez pas le fruit de votre travail, mais que vous receviez une pleine récompense. 8 Watch yourselves, that we don't lose the things which we have accomplished, but that we receive a full reward. 8 Sehet euch vor, daß wir nicht verlieren, was wir erarbeitet haben, sondern vollen Lohn empfangen.
9 Quiconque va au delà et ne demeure pas dans la doctrine du Christ, ne possède point Dieu ; celui qui demeure dans cette doctrine possède le Père et le Fils. 9 Whoever transgresses and doesn't remain in the teaching of Christ, doesn't have God. He who remains in the teaching, the same has both the Father and the Son. 9 Wer übertritt und bleibt nicht in der Lehre Christi, der hat keinen Gott ; wer in der Lehre Christi bleibt, der hat beide, den Vater und den Sohn.
10 Si quelqu’un vient à vous et n’apporte point cette doctrine, ne le recevez pas dans votre maison, et ne lui dites pas : Salut ! 10 If anyone comes to you, and doesn't bring this teaching, don't receive him into your house, and don't welcome him, 10 So jemand zu euch kommt und bringt diese Lehre nicht, den nehmet nicht ins Haus und grüßet ihn auch nicht.
11 Car celui qui lui dit : Salut ! participe à ses œuvres mauvaises. 11 for he who welcomes him participates in his evil works. 11 Denn wer ihn grüßt, der macht sich teilhaftig seiner bösen Werke.
12 Quoique j’eusse beaucoup de choses à vous écrire, je n’ai pas voulu le faire avec le papier et l’encre ; mais j’espère aller chez vous et vous entretenir de vive voix, afin que votre joie soit parfaite. 12 Having many things to write to you, I don't want to do so with paper and ink, but I hope to come to you, and to speak face to face, that our joy may be made full. 12 Ich hatte euch viel zu schreiben, aber ich wollte nicht mit Briefen und Tinte ; sondern ich hoffe, zu euch zu kommen und mündlich mit euch reden, auf daß unsere Freude vollkommen sei.
13 Les enfants de ta sœur l’élue te saluent. 13 The children of your chosen sister greet you. Amen. 13 Es grüßen dich die Kinder deiner Schwester, der Auserwählten. Amen.
