12 For this cause I also suffer these things. 1 You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2:1 そこで、わたしの子よ。あなたはキリスト・イエスにある恵みによって、強くなりなさい。
2 The things which you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit the same to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 2:2 そして、あなたが多くの証人の前でわたしから聞いたことを、さらにほかの者たちにも教えることのできるような忠実な人々に、ゆだねなさい。
3 You therefore must endure hardship, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 2:3 キリスト・イエスの良い兵卒として、わたしと苦しみを共にしてほしい。
4 No soldier on duty entangles himself in the affairs oflife, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier. 4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 2:4 兵役に服している者は、日常生活の事に煩わされてはいない。ただ、兵を募った司令官を喜ばせようと努める。
5 Also, if anyone competes in athletics, he isn't crowned unless he has competed by the rules. 5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. 2:5 また、競技をするにしても、規定に従って競技をしなければ、栄冠は得られない。
6 The farmers who labor must be the first to get a share of the crops. 6 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. 2:6 労苦をする農夫が、だれよりも先に、生産物の分配にあずかるべきである。
7 Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things. 7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. 2:7 わたしの言うことを、よく考えてみなさい。主は、それを十分に理解する力をあなたに賜わるであろう。

12 If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he also will deny us. 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 2:12 もし耐え忍ぶなら、彼と共に支配者となるであろう。もし彼を否むなら、彼もわたしたちを否むであろう。

14 Remind them of these things, charging them in the sight of the Lord, that they don't argue about words, to no profit, to the subverting of those who hear. 14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 2:14 あなたは、これらのことを彼らに思い出させて、なんの益もなく、聞いている人々を破滅におとしいれるだけである言葉の争いをしないように、神のみまえでおごそかに命じなさい。
15 Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn't need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth. 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2:15 あなたは真理の言葉を正しく教え、恥じるところのない錬達した働き人になって、神に自分をささげるように努めはげみなさい。
16 But shun empty chatter, for they will proceed further in ungodliness, 16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 2:16 俗悪なむだ話を避けなさい。それによって人々は、ますます不信心に落ちていき、
17 and their word will consume like gangrene, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 2:17 彼らの言葉は、がんのように腐れひろがるであろう。その中にはヒメナオとピレトとがいる。
18 men who have erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past, and overthrowing the faith of some. 18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. 2:18 彼らは真理からはずれ、復活はすでに済んでしまったと言い、そして、ある人々の信仰をくつがえしている。
19 However God's firm foundation stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness." 19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. 20 Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. 21 If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master's use, prepared for every good work. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. 2:21 もし人が卑しいものを取り去って自分をきよめるなら、彼は尊いきよめられた器となって、主人に役立つものとなり、すべての良いわざに間に合うようになる。
22 Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2:22 そこで、あなたは若い時の情欲を避けなさい。そして、きよい心をもって主を呼び求める人々と共に、義と信仰と愛と平和とを追い求めなさい。

1 But know this, that in the last days, grievous times will come. 1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 3:1 しかし、このことは知っておかねばならない。終りの時には、苦難の時代が来る。
2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3:2 その時、人々は自分を愛する者、金を愛する者、大言壮語する者、高慢な者、神をそしる者、親に逆らう者、恩を知らぬ者、神聖を汚す者、

5 holding a form of godliness, but having denied its power. Turn away from these, also. 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 3:5 信心深い様子をしながらその実を捨てる者となるであろう。こうした人々を避けなさい。
6 For some of these are people who creep into houses, and take captive gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 3:6 彼らの中には、人の家にもぐり込み、そして、さまざまの欲に心を奪われて、多くの罪を積み重ねている愚かな女どもを、とりこにしている者がある。

8 Even as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these also oppose the truth; men corrupted in mind, who concerning the faith, are rejected. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. 3:8 ちょうど、ヤンネとヤンブレとがモーセに逆らったように、こうした人々も真理に逆らうのである。彼らは知性の腐った、信仰の失格者である。

11 persecutions, and sufferings: those things that happened to me at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. I endured those persecutions. Out of them all the Lord delivered me. 11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. 3:11 それから、わたしがアンテオケ、イコニオム、ルステラで受けた数々の迫害、苦難に、よくも続いてきてくれた。そのひどい迫害にわたしは耐えてきたが、主はそれらいっさいのことから、救い出して下さったのである。
12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 3:12 いったい、キリスト・イエスにあって信心深く生きようとする者は、みな、迫害を受ける。
13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 3:13 悪人と詐欺師とは人を惑わし人に惑わされて、悪から悪へと落ちていく。

1 I command you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at his appearing and his Kingdom: 1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 4:1 神のみまえと、生きている者と死んだ者とをさばくべきキリスト・イエスのみまえで、キリストの出現とその御国とを思い、おごそかに命じる。
2 preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with all patience and teaching. 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 4:2 御言を宣べ伝えなさい。時が良くても悪くても、それを励み、あくまでも寛容な心でよく教えて、責め、戒め、勧めなさい。
3 For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts; 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4:3 人々が健全な教に耐えられなくなり、耳ざわりのよい話をしてもらおうとして、自分勝手な好みにまかせて教師たちを寄せ集め、

5 But you be sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, and fulfill your ministry. 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 4:5 しかし、あなたは、何事にも慎み、苦難を忍び、伝道者のわざをなし、自分の務を全うしなさい。
