1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, to the saints who are at Ephesus, and the faithful in Christ Jesus: 1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus: 1:1 神の御旨によるキリスト・イエスの使徒パウロから、エペソにいる、キリスト・イエスにあって忠実な聖徒たちへ。

13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off are made near in the blood of Christ. 13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 2:13 ところが、あなたがたは、このように以前は遠く離れていたが、今ではキリスト・イエスにあって、キリストの血によって近いものとなったのである。
14 For he is our peace, who made both one, and broke down the middle wall of partition, 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 2:14 キリストはわたしたちの平和であって、二つのものを一つにし、敵意という隔ての中垣を取り除き、ご自分の肉によって、
15 having abolished in the flesh the hostility, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man of the two, making peace; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 2:15 数々の規定から成っている戒めの律法を廃棄したのである。それは、彼にあって、二つのものをひとりの新しい人に造りかえて平和をきたらせ、

19 So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God, 19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 2:19 そこであなたがたは、もはや異国人でも宿り人でもなく、聖徒たちと同じ国籍の者であり、神の家族なのである。
20 being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 2:20 またあなたがたは、使徒たちや預言者たちという土台の上に建てられたものであって、キリスト・イエスご自身が隅のかしら石である。
21 in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 2:21 このキリストにあって、建物全体が組み合わされ、主にある聖なる宮に成長し、

1 For this cause I, Paul, am the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles, 1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, 3:1 こういうわけで、あなたがた異邦人のためにキリスト・イエスの囚人となっているこのパウロ―
2 if it is so that you have heard of the administration of that grace of God which was given me toward you; 2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: 3:2 わたしがあなたがたのために神から賜わった恵みの務について、あなたがたはたしかに聞いたであろう。
3 how that by revelation the mystery was made known to me, as I wrote before in few words, 3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, 3:3 すなわち、すでに簡単に書きおくったように、わたしは啓示によって奥義を知らされたのである。
4 by which, when you read, you can perceive my understanding in the mystery of Christ; 4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 3:4 あなたがたはそれを読めば、キリストの奥義をわたしがどう理解しているかがわかる。

13 Therefore I ask that you may not lose heart at my troubles for you, which are your glory. 13 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. 3:13 だから、あなたがたのためにわたしが受けている患難を見て、落胆しないでいてもらいたい。わたしの患難は、あなたがたの光栄なのである。
14 For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 3:14 こういうわけで、わたしはひざをかがめて、
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 3:15 天上にあり地上にあって「父」と呼ばれているあらゆるものの源なる父に祈る。
16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man; 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 3:16 どうか父が、その栄光の富にしたがい、御霊により、力をもってあなたがたの内なる人を強くして下さるように、

1 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called, 1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 4:1 さて、主にある囚人であるわたしは、あなたがたに勧める。あなたがたが召されたその召しにふさわしく歩き、
2 with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love; 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 4:2 できる限り謙虚で、かつ柔和であり、寛容を示し、愛をもって互に忍びあい、

14 that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error; 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 4:14 こうして、わたしたちはもはや子供ではないので、だまし惑わす策略により、人々の悪巧みによって起る様々な教の風に吹きまわされたり、もてあそばれたりすることがなく、
15 but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, Christ; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 4:15 愛にあって真理を語り、あらゆる点において成長し、かしらなるキリストに達するのである。
16 from whom all the body, being fitted and knit together through that which every joint supplies, according to the working in measure of each individual part, makes the body increase to the building up of itself in love. 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. 4:16 また、キリストを基として、全身はすべての節々の助けにより、しっかりと組み合わされ結び合わされ、それぞれの部分は分に応じて働き、からだを成長させ、愛のうちに育てられていくのである。
17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, 17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 4:17 そこで、わたしは主にあっておごそかに勧める。あなたがたは今後、異邦人がむなしい心で歩いているように歩いてはならない。

21 if indeed you heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus: 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 4:21 あなたがたはたしかに彼に聞き、彼にあって教えられて、イエスにある真理をそのまま学んだはずである。
22 that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man, that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit; 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 4:22 すなわち、あなたがたは、以前の生活に属する、情欲に迷って滅び行く古き人を脱ぎ捨て、
23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 4:23 心の深みまで新たにされて、
24 and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth. 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. 4:24 真の義と聖とをそなえた神にかたどって造られた新しき人を着るべきである。
25 Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor. For we are members of one another. 25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. 4:25 こういうわけだから、あなたがたは偽りを捨てて、おのおの隣り人に対して、真実を語りなさい。わたしたちは、お互に肢体なのであるから。
26 "Be angry, and don't sin." Don't let the sun go down on your wrath, 26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 4:26 怒ることがあっても、罪を犯してはならない。憤ったままで、日が暮れるようであってはならない。
27 neither give place to the devil. 27 Neither give place to the devil. 4:27 また、悪魔に機会を与えてはいけない。
28 Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need. 28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. 4:28 盗んだ者は、今後、盗んではならない。むしろ、貧しい人々に分け与えるようになるために、自分の手で正当な働きをしなさい。
29 Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. 29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 4:29 悪い言葉をいっさい、あなたがたの口から出してはいけない。必要があれば、人の徳を高めるのに役立つような言葉を語って、聞いている者の益になるようにしなさい。
30 Don't grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 4:30 神の聖霊を悲しませてはいけない。あなたがたは、あがないの日のために、聖霊の証印を受けたのである。
31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 4:31 すべての無慈悲、憤り、怒り、騒ぎ、そしり、また、いっさいの悪意を捨て去りなさい。
32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. 4:32 互に情深く、あわれみ深い者となり、神がキリストにあってあなたがたをゆるして下さったように、あなたがたも互にゆるし合いなさい。

1 Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children. 1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 5:1 こうして、あなたがたは、神に愛されている子供として、神にならう者になりなさい。
2 Walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. 5:2 また愛のうちを歩きなさい。キリストもあなたがたを愛して下さって、わたしたちのために、ご自身を、神へのかんばしいかおりのささげ物、また、いけにえとしてささげられたのである。
3 But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints; 3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; 5:3 また、不品行といろいろな汚れや貪欲などを、聖徒にふさわしく、あなたがたの間では、口にすることさえしてはならない。
4 nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate; but rather giving of thanks. 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. 5:4 また、卑しい言葉と愚かな話やみだらな冗談を避けなさい。これらは、よろしくない事である。それよりは、むしろ感謝をささげなさい。
5 Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God. 5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 5:5 あなたがたは、よく知っておかねばならない。すべて不品行な者、汚れたことをする者、貪欲な者、すなわち、偶像を礼拝する者は、キリストと神との国をつぐことができない。
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words. For because of these things, the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience. 6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. 5:6 あなたがたは、だれにも不誠実な言葉でだまされてはいけない。これらのことから、神の怒りは不従順の子らに下るのである。
7 Therefore don't be partakers with them. 7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them. 5:7 だから、彼らの仲間になってはいけない。
8 For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light, 8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 5:8 あなたがたは、以前はやみであったが、今は主にあって光となっている。光の子らしく歩きなさい―
9 for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth, 9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) 5:9 光はあらゆる善意と正義と真実との実を結ばせるものである―
10 proving what is well pleasing to the Lord. 10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. 5:10 主に喜ばれるものがなんであるかを、わきまえ知りなさい。
11 Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. 5:11 実を結ばないやみのわざに加わらないで、むしろ、それを指摘してやりなさい。
12 For the things which are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of. 12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. 5:12 彼らが隠れて行っていることは、口にするだけでも恥ずかしい事である。
13 But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that reveals is light. 13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. 5:13 しかし、光にさらされる時、すべてのものは、明らかになる。
14 Therefore he says, "Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." 14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. 5:14 明らかにされたものは皆、光となるのである。だから、こう書いてある、「眠っている者よ、起きなさい。死人のなかから、立ち上がりなさい。そうすれば、キリストがあなたを照すであろう」。
15 Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise; 15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 5:15 そこで、あなたがたの歩きかたによく注意して、賢くない者のようにではなく、賢い者のように歩き、
16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 5:16 今の時を生かして用いなさい。今は悪い時代なのである。
17 Therefore don't be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. 5:17 だから、愚かな者にならないで、主の御旨がなんであるかを悟りなさい。
18 Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, 18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 5:18 酒に酔ってはいけない。それは乱行のもとである。むしろ御霊に満たされて、
19 speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; singing, and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 5:19 詩とさんびと霊の歌とをもって語り合い、主にむかって心からさんびの歌をうたいなさい。
20 giving thanks always concerning all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God, even the Father; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; 5:20 そしてすべてのことにつき、いつも、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの御名によって、父なる神に感謝し、
21 subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ. 21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. 5:21 キリストに対する恐れの心をもって、互に仕え合うべきである。
22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 5:22 妻たる者よ。主に仕えるように自分の夫に仕えなさい。
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 5:23 キリストが教会のかしらであって、自らは、からだなる教会の救主であられるように、夫は妻のかしらである。
24 But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 5:24 そして教会がキリストに仕えるように、妻もすべてのことにおいて、夫に仕えるべきである。
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it; 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 5:25 夫たる者よ。キリストが教会を愛してそのためにご自身をささげられたように、妻を愛しなさい。
26 that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 5:26 キリストがそうなさったのは、水で洗うことにより、言葉によって、教会をきよめて聖なるものとするためであり、
27 that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 5:27 また、しみも、しわも、そのたぐいのものがいっさいなく、清くて傷のない栄光の姿の教会を、ご自分に迎えるためである。
28 Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 5:28 それと同じく、夫も自分の妻を、自分のからだのように愛さねばならない。自分の妻を愛する者は、自分自身を愛するのである。
29 For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly; 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 5:29 自分自身を憎んだ者は、いまだかつて、ひとりもいない。かえって、キリストが教会になさったようにして、おのれを育て養うのが常である。
30 because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones. 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 5:30 わたしたちは、キリストのからだの肢体なのである。
31 "For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh." 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 5:31 「それゆえに、人は父母を離れてその妻と結ばれ、ふたりの者は一体となるべきである」。
32 This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and of the assembly. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 5:32 この奥義は大きい。それは、キリストと教会とをさしている。
33 Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband. 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. 5:33 いずれにしても、あなたがたは、それぞれ、自分の妻を自分自身のように愛しなさい。妻もまた夫を敬いなさい。

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 6:1 子たる者よ。主にあって両親に従いなさい。これは正しいことである。
2 "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with a promise: 2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; 6:2 「あなたの父と母とを敬え」。これが第一の戒めであって、次の約束がそれについている、
3 "that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth." 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. 6:3 「そうすれば、あなたは幸福になり、地上でながく生きながらえるであろう」。
4 You fathers, don't provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. 4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. 6:4 父たる者よ。子供をおこらせないで、主の薫陶と訓戒とによって、彼らを育てなさい。
5 Servants, be obedient to those who according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ; 5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; 6:5 僕たる者よ。キリストに従うように、恐れおののきつつ、真心をこめて、肉による主人に従いなさい。
6 not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men pleasers; but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 6:6 人にへつらおうとして目先だけの勤めをするのでなく、キリストの僕として心から神の御旨を行い、
7 with good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men; 7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: 6:7 人にではなく主に仕えるように、快く仕えなさい。
8 knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive the same again from the Lord, whether he is bound or free. 8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. 6:8 あなたがたが知っているとおり、だれでも良いことを行えば、僕であれ、自由人であれ、それに相当する報いを、それぞれ主から受けるであろう。
9 You masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him. 9 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him. 6:9 主人たる者よ。僕たちに対して、同様にしなさい。おどすことを、してはならない。あなたがたが知っているとおり、彼らとあなたがたとの主は天にいますのであり、かつ人をかたより見ることをなさらないのである。
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 6:10 最後に言う。主にあって、その偉大な力によって、強くなりなさい。
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 6:11 悪魔の策略に対抗して立ちうるために、神の武具で身を固めなさい。
12 For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 6:12 わたしたちの戦いは、血肉に対するものではなく、もろもろの支配と、権威と、やみの世の主権者、また天上にいる悪の霊に対する戦いである。
13 Therefore, put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 6:13 それだから、悪しき日にあたって、よく抵抗し、完全に勝ち抜いて、堅く立ちうるために、神の武具を身につけなさい。
14 Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 6:14 すなわち、立って真理の帯を腰にしめ、正義の胸当を胸につけ、
15 and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 6:15 平和の福音の備えを足にはき、
16 above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 6:16 その上に、信仰のたてを手に取りなさい。それをもって、悪しき者の放つ火の矢を消すことができるであろう。
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is theword of God; 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 6:17 また、救のかぶとをかぶり、御霊の剣、すなわち、神の言を取りなさい。
18 with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 6:18 絶えず祈と願いをし、どんな時でも御霊によって祈り、そのために目をさましてうむことがなく、すべての聖徒のために祈りつづけなさい。
19 on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News, 19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 6:19 また、わたしが口を開くときに語るべき言葉を賜わり、大胆に福音の奥義を明らかに示しうるように、わたしのためにも祈ってほしい。
20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. 20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. 6:20 わたしはこの福音のための使節であり、そして鎖につながれているのであるが、つながれていても、語るべき時には大胆に語れるように祈ってほしい。
21 But that you also may know my affairs, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will make known to you all things; 21 But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things: 6:21 わたしがどういう様子か、何をしているかを、あなたがたに知ってもらうために、主にあって忠実に仕えている愛する兄弟テキコが、いっさいの事を報告するであろう。
22 whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that you may know our state, and that he may comfort your hearts. 22 Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts. 6:22 彼をあなたがたのもとに送るのは、あなたがたがわたしたちの様子を知り、また彼によって心に励ましを受けるようになるためなのである。
23 Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 6:23 父なる神とわたしたちの主イエス・キリストから平安ならびに信仰に伴う愛が、兄弟たちにあるように。
24 Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love. Amen. 24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen. 6:24 変らない真実をもって、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストを愛するすべての人々に、恵みがあるように。
