1:1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of Yahweh by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, 1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, 1 ペルシャ王クロスの元年に、主はさきにエレミヤの口によって伝えられた主の言葉を成就するため、ペルシャ王クロスの心を感動されたので、王は全国に布告を発し、また詔書をもって告げて言った、
1:2“Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, ‘Yahweh, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. 2 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. 2 「ペルシャ王クロスはこのように言う、天の神、主は地上の国々をことごとくわたしに下さって、主の宮をユダにあるエルサレムに建てることをわたしに命じられた。
1:3 Whoever there is among you of all his people, may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of Yahweh, the God of Israel (he is God), which is in Jerusalem. 3 Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem. 3 あなたがたのうち、その民である者は皆その神の助けを得て、ユダにあるエルサレムに上って行き、イスラエルの神、主の宮を復興せよ。彼はエルサレムにいます神である。
1:4 Whoever is left, in any place where he sojourns, let the men of his place help him with silver, with gold, with goods, and with animals, besides the freewill offering for the house of God which is in Jerusalem.’” 4 And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem. 4 すべて生き残って、どこに宿っている者でも、その所の人々は金、銀、貨財、家畜をもって助け、そのほかにまたエルサレムにある神の宮のために真心よりの供え物をささげよ」。
1:5 Then the heads of fathers’ houses of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, even all whose spirit God had stirred to go up rose up to build the house of Yahweh which is in Jerusalem. 5 Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem. 5 そこでユダとベニヤミンの氏族の長、祭司およびレビびとなど、すべて神にその心を感動された者は、エルサレムにある主の宮を復興するために上って行こうと立ち上がった。
1:6 All those who were around them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with animals, and with precious things, besides all that was willingly offered. 6 And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered. 6 その周囲の人々は皆、銀の器、金、貨財、家畜および宝物を与えて彼らを力づけ、そのほかにまた、もろもろの物を惜しげなくささげた。
1:7 Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of Yahweh, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put in the house of his gods; 7 Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods; 7 クロス王はまたネブカデネザルが、さきにエルサレムから携え出して自分の神の宮に納めた主の宮の器を取り出した。

2:69 they gave after their ability into the treasury of the work sixty-one thousand darics of gold, and five thousand minas of silver, and one hundred priests’ garments. 69 They gave after their ability unto the treasure of the work threescore and one thousand drams of gold, and five thousand pound of silver, and one hundred priests' garments. 69 すなわち、その力に従って工事のために倉に納めたものは、金六万一千ダリク、銀五千ミナ、祭司の衣服百かさねであった。

4:13 Be it known now to the king that if this city is built, and the walls finished, they will not pay tribute, custom, or toll, and in the end it will be hurtful to the kings. 13 Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings. 13 王よ、いまご承知ください。もしこの町を建て、城壁を築きあげるならば、彼らはみつぎ、関税、税金を納めなくなります。そうすれば王の収入が減るでしょう。
4:14 Now because we eat the salt of the palace, and it is not appropriate for us to see the king’s dishonor, therefore have we sent and informed the king; 14 Now because we have maintenance from the king's palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king's dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king; 14 われわれは王宮の塩をはむ者ですから、王の不名誉を見るに忍びないので、人をつかわして王にお聞かせするのです。

5:5 But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, and they did not make them cease, until the matter should come to Darius, and then answer should be returned by letter concerning it. 5 But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this matter. 5 しかしユダヤ人の長老たちの上には、神の目が注がれていたので、彼らはこれをやめさせることができず、その事をダリヨスに奏して、その返答の来るのを待った。

5:9 Then we asked those elders, and said to them thus, “Who gave you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?” 9 Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls? 9 そこでわれわれはその長老たちに尋ねてこう言いました、『だれがあなたがたにこの宮を建て、この城壁を築きあげることを命じたのか』と。

6:12 and the God who has caused his name to dwell there overthrow all kings and peoples who shall put forth their hand to alter the same, to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. 7:20 Whatever more shall be needful for the house of your God, which you shall have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king’s treasure house. 20 And whatsoever more shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure house. 20 そのほかあなたの神の宮のために用うべき必要なものがあれば、それを王の倉から出して用いよ。

7:24 Also we inform you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, the singers, porters, Nethinim, or servants of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose tribute, custom, or toll, on them. 24 Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them. 24 われわれは、またあなたがたに告げる、『祭司、レビびと、歌うたう者、門衛、宮に仕えるしもべ、および神のこの宮の仕えびとたちには、みつぎ、租税、税金を課してはならぬ』。
7:25 You, Ezra, after the wisdom of your God who is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges, who may judge all the people who are beyond the River, all such as know the laws of your God; and teach him who doesn’t know them. 25 And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not. 25 エズラよ、あなたはあなたの手にある神の知恵によって、つかさおよび裁判人を立て、川向こうの州のすべての民、すなわちあなたの神の律法を知っている者たちを、ことごとくさばかせよ。あなたがたはまたこれを知らない者を教えよ。
7:26 Whoever will not do the law of your God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed on him with all diligence, whether it be to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment. 26 And whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment. 26 あなたの神の律法および王の律法を守らない者を、きびしくその罪に定めて、あるいは死刑に、あるいは追放に、あるいは財産没収に、あるいは投獄に処せよ」。

8:28 I said to them, “You are holy to Yahweh, and the vessels are holy; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering to Yahweh, the God of your fathers. 28 And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the LORD; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the LORD God of your fathers. 28 そしてわたしは彼らに言った、「あなたがたは主に聖別された者である。この器物も聖である。またこの金銀は、あなたがたの先祖の神、主にささげた真心よりの供え物である。
8:29 Watch, and keep them, until you weigh them before the chiefs of the priests and the Levites, and the princes of the fathers’ houses of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of Yahweh.” 29 Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD. 29 あなたがたはエルサレムで、主の宮のへやの中で、祭司長、レビびとおよびイスラエルの氏族のかしらたちの前で、これを量るまで、見張り、かつ守りなさい」。

9:1 Now when these things were done, the princes drew near to me, saying, “The people of Israel, and the priests and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. 1 Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. 1 これらの事がなされた後、つかさたちは、わたしのもとに来て言った、「イスラエルの民、祭司およびレビびとは諸国の民と離れないで、カナンびと、ヘテびと、ペリジびと、エブスびと、アンモンびと、モアブびと、エジプトびと、アモリびとなどの憎むべき事を行いました。
9:2 For they have taken of their daughters for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy seed have mixed themselves with the peoples of the lands. 9:3 When I heard this thing, I tore my garment and my robe, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down confounded. 3 And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied. 3 わたしはこの事を聞いた時、着物と上着とを裂き、髪の毛とひげを抜き、驚きあきれてすわった。
9:4 Then were assembled to me everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the trespass of them of the captivity; and I sat confounded until the evening offering. 4 Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat astonied until the evening sacrifice. 4 イスラエルの神の言葉におののく者は皆、捕囚から帰って来た人々のとがのゆえに、わたしのもとに集まったが、わたしは夕の供え物の時まで、驚きあきれてすわった。
9:5 At the evening offering I arose up from my humiliation, even with my garment and my robe torn; and I fell on my knees, and spread out my hands to Yahweh my God; 5 And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God, 5 夕の供え物の時になって、わたしは断食から立ちあがり、着物と上着を裂いたまま、ひざをかがめて、わが神、主にむかって手をさし伸べて、

9:7 Since the days of our fathers we have been exceeding guilty to this day; and for our iniquities we, our kings, and our priests, have been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, to plunder, and to confusion of face, as it is this day. 7 Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day. 7 われわれの先祖の日から今日まで、われわれは大いなるとがを負い、われわれの不義によって、われわれとわれわれの王たち、および祭司たちは国々の王たちの手にわたされ、つるぎにかけられ、捕え行かれ、かすめられ、恥をこうむりました。今日のとおりです。

9:13“After all that has come on us for our evil deeds, and for our great guilt, seeing that you, our God, have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such a remnant, 13 And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this; 13 われわれの悪い行いにより、大いなるとがによって、これらすべてのことが、すでにわれわれに臨みましたが、われわれの神なるあなたは、われわれの不義よりも軽い罰をくだして、このように残りの者を与えてくださったのを見ながら、

10:1 Now while Ezra prayed and made confession, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there was gathered together to him out of Israel a very great assembly of men and women and children; for the people wept very sore. 1 Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore. 1 エズラが神の宮の前に泣き伏して祈り、かつざんげしていた時、男、女および子供の大いなる群集がイスラエルのうちから彼のもとに集まってきた。民はいたく泣き悲しんだ。

10:3 Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God. 10:5 Then Ezra arose, and made the chiefs of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they would do according to this word. 10:14 Let now our princes be appointed for all the assembly, and let all those who are in our cities who have married foreign women come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and its judges, until the fierce wrath of our God be turned from us, until this matter is resolved.” 14 Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us. 14 それでどうぞ、われわれのつかさたちは全会衆のために立ってください。われわれの町の内に、もし異邦の女をめとった者があるならば、みな定めの時にこさせなさい。またおのおのの町の長老および裁判人も、それと一緒にこさせなさい。そうすればこの事によるわれわれの神の激しい怒りは、ついにわれわれを離れるでしょう」。

10:18 Among the sons of the priests there were found who had married foreign women: namely, of the sons of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and his brothers, Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah. 18 And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah. 18 祭司の子孫のうちで異邦の女をめとった事のあらわれた者は、ヨザダクの子エシュアの子ら、およびその兄弟たちのうちではマアセヤ、エリエゼル、ヤリブ、ゲダリヤであった。
