| 2 de ne pas vous laisser ébranler facilement dans vos sentiments, ni alarmer, soit par quelque esprit, soit par quelque parole ou lettre supposées venir de nous, comme si le jour du Seigneur était imminent. | 2 not to be quickly shaken in your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter as from us, saying that the day of Christ had come. | 2 daß ihr euch nicht bald bewegen lasset von eurem Sinn noch erschrecken, weder durch Geist noch durch Wort noch durch Brief, als von uns gesandt, daß der Tag Christi vorhanden sei. |

| 4 l’adversaire qui s’élève contre tout ce qui est appelé Dieu ou honoré d’un culte, jusqu’à s’asseoir dans le sanctuaire de Dieu, et à se présenter comme s’il était Dieu. | 4 he who opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God. | 4 der da ist der Widersacher und sich überhebt über alles, was Gott oder Gottesdienst heißt, also daß er sich setzt in den Tempel Gottes als ein Gott und gibt sich aus, er sei Gott. |
| 5 Ne vous souvenez-vous pas que je vous disais ces choses, lorsque j’étais encore chez vous ? | 5 Don't you remember that, when I was still with you, I told you these things? | 5 Gedenket ihr nicht daran, daß ich euch solches sagte, da ich noch bei euch war ? |
| 6 Et maintenant vous savez ce qui le retient, pour qu’il se manifeste en son temps. | 6 Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season. | 6 Und was es noch aufhält, wisset ihr, daß er offenbart werde zu seiner Zeit. |
| 7 Car le mystère d’iniquité s’opère déjà, mais seulement jusqu’à ce que celui qui le retient encore paraisse au grand jour. | 7 For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until he is taken out of the way. | 7 Denn es regt sich bereits das Geheimnis der Bosheit, nur daß, der es jetzt aufhält, muß hinweggetan werden ; |
| 8 Et alors se découvrira l’impie, que le Seigneur (Jésus) exterminera par le souffle de sa bouche, et anéantira par l’éclat de son avènement. | 8 Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth, and destroy by the manifestation of his coming; | 8 und alsdann wird der Boshafte offenbart werden, welchen der Herr umbringen wird mit dem Geist seines Mundes und durch die Erscheinung seiner Zukunft ihm ein Ende machen, |

| 10 avec toutes les séductions de l’iniquité, pour ceux qui se perdent, parce qu’ils n’ont pas ouvert leur cœur à l’amour de la vérité qui les eût sauvés. | 10 and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn't receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. | 10 und mit allerlei Verführung zur Ungerechtigkeit unter denen, die verloren werden, dafür daß sie die Liebe zur Wahrheit nicht haben angenommen, auf daß sie selig würden. |
| 11 C’est pourquoi Dieu leur envoie des illusions puissantes qui les feront croire au mensonge, | 11 Because of this, God sends them a working of error, that they should believe a lie; | 11 Darum wird ihnen Gott kräftige Irrtümer senden, daß sie glauben der Lüge, |
| 12 en sorte qu’ils tombent sous son jugement tous ceux qui ont refusé leur foi à la vérité, et ont au contraire pris plaisir à l’injustice. | 12 that they all might be judged who didn't believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. | 12 auf daß gerichtet werden alle, die der Wahrheit nicht glauben, sondern haben Lust an der Ungerechtigkeit. |
| 13 Pour nous, nous devons rendre à Dieu de continuelles actions de grâces pour vous, frères bien-aimés du Seigneur, de ce que Dieu vous a choisis dès le commencement pour vous sauver par la sanctification de l’Esprit et par la foi en la vérité. | 13 But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth; | 13 Wir aber sollen Gott danken allezeit um euch, von dem Herrn geliebte Brüder, daß euch Gott erwählt hat von Anfang zur Seligkeit, in der Heiligung des Geistes und im Glauben der Wahrheit, |
| 14 C’est à quoi il vous a appelés par notre prédication de l’Évangile, pour vous faire acquérir la gloire de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ. | 14 to which he called you through our Good News, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. | 14 darein er euch berufen hat durch unser Evangelium zum herrlichen Eigentum unsers Herrn Jesu Christi. |
| 15 Ainsi donc, frères, demeurez fermes et gardez les enseignements que vous avez reçus, soit de vive voix, soit par notre lettre. | 15 So then, brothers, stand firm, and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word, or by letter. | 15 So stehet nun, liebe Brüder, und haltet an den Satzungen, in denen ihr gelehrt seid, es sei durch unser Wort oder Brief. |
| 16 Que notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ lui-même, que Dieu notre Père, qui nous a aimés et nous a donné par sa grâce une consolation éternelle et une bonne espérance, | 16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, | 16 Er aber, unser Herr Jesus Christus, und Gott, unser Vater, der uns hat geliebt und uns gegeben einen ewigen Trost und eine gute Hoffnung durch Gnade, |

| 1 Au reste, frères, priez pour nous, afin que la parole du Seigneur poursuive sa course et soit en honneur, comme elle l’est chez vous, | 1 Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread rapidly and be glorified, even as also with you; | 1 Weiter, liebe Brüder, betet für uns, daß das Wort des Herrn laufe und gepriesen werde wie bei euch, |
| 2 et afin que nous soyons délivrés des hommes fâcheux et pervers ; car la foi n’est pas le partage de tous. | 2 and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men; for not all have faith. | 2 und daß wir erlöst werden von den unverständigen und argen Menschen. Denn der Glaube ist nicht jedermanns Ding. |
| 3 Mais le Seigneur est fidèle, il vous affermira et vous préservera du mal. | 3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you, and guard you from the evil one. | 3 Aber der Herr ist treu ; der wird euch stärken und bewahren vor dem Argen. |
| 4 Nous avons en vous cette confiance dans le Seigneur, que vous faites et que vous ferez ce que nous vous prescrivons. | 4 We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you both do and will do the things we command. | 4 Wir versehen uns aber zu euch in dem Herrn, daß ihr tut und tun werdet, was wir euch gebieten. |
| 5 Que le Seigneur dirige vos cœurs dans l’amour de Dieu et la patience du Christ ! | 5 May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ. | 5 Der Herr aber richte eure Herzen zu der Liebe Gottes und zu der Geduld Christi. |
| 6 Nous vous enjoignons, frères, au nom de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, de vous séparer de tout frère qui vit d’une façon déréglée, et non selon les instructions reçues de nous. | 6 Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother who walks in rebellion, and not after the tradition which they received from us. | 6 Wir gebieten euch aber, liebe Brüder, in dem Namen unsers Herrn Jesu Christi, daß ihr euch entzieht von jedem Bruder, der da unordentlich wandelt und nicht nach der Satzung, die er von uns empfangen hat. |
| 7 Vous savez vous-mêmes ce que vous devez faire pour nous imiter ; car nous n’avons rien eu de déréglé parmi vous. | 7 For you know how you ought to imitate us. For we didn't behave ourselves rebelliously among you, | 7 Denn ihr wisset, wie ihr uns sollt nachfolgen. Denn wir sind nicht unordentlich unter euch gewesen, |
| 8 Nous n’avons mangé gratuitement le pain de personne ; mais nous avons été nuit et jour à l’œuvre, dans la fatigue et la peine, pour n’être à charge à aucun de vous. | 8 neither did we eat bread from anyone's hand without paying for it, but in labor and travail worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you; | 8 haben auch nicht umsonst das Brot genommen von jemand ; sondern mit Arbeit und Mühe Tag und Nacht haben wir gewirkt, daß wir nicht jemand unter euch beschwerlich wären. |
| 9 Ce n’est pas que nous n’en eussions le droit ; mais nous voulions vous donner en nous-mêmes un exemple à imiter. | 9 not because we don't have the right, but to make ourselves an example to you, that you should imitate us. | 9 Nicht darum, daß wir es nicht Macht haben, sondern daß wir uns selbst zum Vorbilde euch gäben, uns nachzufolgen. |
| 10 Aussi bien, lorsque nous étions chez vous, nous vous déclarions que si quelqu’un ne veut pas travailler, il ne doit pas manger non plus. | 10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: "If anyone will not work, neither let him eat." | 10 Und da wir bei euch waren, geboten wir euch solches, daß, so jemand nicht will arbeiten, der soll auch nicht essen. |
| 11 Cependant nous apprenons qu’il y a parmi vous des gens déréglés, qui ne travaillent pas, mais qui ne s’occupent que de choses vaines. | 11 For we hear of some who walk among you in rebellion, who don't work at all, but are busybodies. | 11 Denn wir hören, daß etliche unter euch wandeln unordentlich und arbeiten nichts, sondern treiben Vorwitz. |
| 12 Nous les invitons et nous les exhortons par le Seigneur Jésus-Christ, de travailler paisiblement pour manger un pain qui leur appartienne. | 12 Now those who are that way, we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. | 12 Solchen aber gebieten wir und ermahnen sie durch unsern Herrn Jesus Christus, daß sie mit stillem Wesen arbeiten und ihr eigen Brot essen. |
| 13 Pour vous, frères, ne vous lassez pas de faire le bien. | 13 But you, brothers, don't be weary in doing well. | 13 Ihr aber, liebe Brüder, werdet nicht verdrossen Gutes zu tun. |
| 14 Et si quelqu’un n’obéit pas à l’ordre donnée par cette lettre, notez-le, et, pour le confondre, ne le fréquentez plus. | 14 If any man doesn't obey our word in this letter, note that man, that you have no company with him, to the end that he may be ashamed. | 14 So aber jemand nicht gehorsam ist unserm Wort, den zeigt an durch einen Brief, und habt nichts mit ihm zu schaffen, auf daß er schamrot werde ; |
| 15 Ne le considérez pourtant pas comme un ennemi, mais avertissez-le comme un frère. | 15 Don't count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. | 15 doch haltet ihn nicht als einen Feind, sondern vermahnet ihn als einen Bruder. |
| 16 Que le Seigneur de la paix vous donne lui-même la paix en tout temps, de toute manière ! Que le Seigneur soit avec tous ! | 16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with you all. | 16 Er aber, der Herr des Friedens, gebe euch Frieden allenthalben und auf allerlei Weise. Der Herr sei mit euch allen ! |
