| 1 La troisième année du règne de Joakim, roi de Juda, Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, vint contre Jérusalem et l’assiégea. | 1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Jerusalem, and besieged it. | 1 Im dritten Jahr des Reiches Jojakims, des Königs in Juda, kam Nebukadnezar, der König zu Babel, vor Jerusalem und belagerte es. |
| 2 Le Seigneur livra entre ses mains Joakim, roi de Juda, et une partie des vases de la maison de Dieu ; et il les emporta au pays de Sennaar, dans la maison de son dieu, et il déposa les vases dans le trésor de son dieu. | 2 The [#N1 Lord] gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of [#N2 God]; and he carried them into the land of Shinar to the house of his god: and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god. | 2 Und der Herr übergab ihm Jojakim, den König Juda’s, und etliche Gefäße aus dem Hause Gottes ; die ließ er führen ins Land Sinear in seines Gottes Haus und tat die Gefäße in seines Gottes Schatzkammer. |
| 3 Le roi dit à Asphenez, chef de ses eunuques, d’amener d’entre les enfants d’Israël, de la race royale ou de la noblesse, | 3 The king spoke to Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring in certain of the children of Israel, even of the seed royal and of the nobles; | 3 Und der König sprach zu Aspenas, seinem obersten Kämmerer, er sollte aus den Kindern Israel vom königlichen Stamm und Herrenkinder wählen |
| 4 des jeunes genssans aucun défaut, beaux de figure, doués de toutes sortes de talents, instruits et intelligents, pleins de vigueur, pour qu’ils se tinssent dans le palais du roi et qu’on leur enseignât la littérature et la langue des Chaldéens. | 4 youths in whom was no blemish, but well-favored, and skillful in all wisdom, and endowed with knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability to stand in the king’s palace; and that he should teach them the learning and the language of the Chaldeans. | 4 Knaben, die nicht gebrechlich wären, sondern schöne, vernünftige, weise, kluge und verständige, die da geschickt wären, zu dienen an des Königs Hofe und zu lernen chaldäische Schrift und Sprache. |
| 5 Le roi leur assigna pour chaque jour une portion des mets royaux et du vin dont il buvait, afin que, ayant été élevés pendant trois ans, ils se tinssent au bout de ce temps devant le roi. | 5 The king appointed for them a daily portion of the king’s dainties, and of the wine which he drank, and that they should be nourished three years; that at its end they should stand before the king. | 5 Solchen bestimmte der König, was man ihnen täglich geben sollte von seiner Speise und vom Wein, den er selbst trank, daß sie also drei Jahre auferzogen würden und darnach dem König dienen sollten. |
| 6 Il y avait parmi eux, d’entre les enfants de Juda, Daniel, Ananias, Misaël et Azarias. | 6 Now among these were, of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. | 6 Unter diesen war Daniel, Hananja, Misael und Asarja von den Kindern Juda. |
| 7 Lechef des eunuques leur donna des noms ; il appela Daniel Baltassar, Ananias Sidrac, Misaël Misac, et Azarias Abdénago. | 7 The prince of the eunuchs gave names to them: to Daniel he gave the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego. | 7 Und der oberste Kämmerer gab ihnen Namen und nannte Daniel Beltsazar und Hananja Sadrach und Misael Mesach und Asarja Abed-Nego. |
| 8 Daniel résolut en son cœur de ne passe souiller par les mets du roi et par le vin dont il buvait, et il demanda au chef des eunuques de ne pas l’obliger à se souiller. | 8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king’s dainties, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. | 8 Aber Daniel setzte sich vor in seinem Herzen, daß er sich mit des Königs Speise und mit dem Wein, den er selbst trank, nicht verunreinigen wollte, und bat den obersten Kämmerer, daß er sich nicht müßte verunreinigen. |
| 9 Et Dieu fit trouver à Daniel grâce et faveur auprès du chef des eunuques. | 9 Now God made Daniel to find kindness and compassion in the sight of the prince of the eunuchs. | 9 Und Gott gab Daniel, daß ihm der oberste Kämmerer günstig und gnädig ward. |
| 10 Le chef des eunuques dit à Daniel : " Je crains le roi, mon maître, qui a fixé ce que vous devez manger et boire ; car pourquoi verrait-il vos visages plus défaits que ceux des jeunes gens de votre âge ? Vous mettriez en danger ma tête auprès du roi. " | 10 The prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse looking than the youths who are of your own age? so would you endanger my head with the king. | 10 Derselbe sprach zu ihm : Ich fürchte mich vor meinem Herrn, dem König, der euch eure Speise und Trank bestimmt hat ; wo er würde sehen, daß eure Angesichter jämmerlicher wären denn der andern Knaben eures Alters, so brächtet ihr mich bei dem König um mein Leben. |
| 11 Alors Daniel dit au maître d’hôtel, que le chef des eunuques avait établi sur Daniel, Ananias, Misaël et Azarias : | 11 Then said Daniel to the steward whom the prince of the eunuchs had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: | 11 Da sprach Daniel zu dem Aufseher, welchem der oberste Kämmerer Daniel, Hananja, Misael und Asarja befohlen hatte : |
| 12 " Fais, je te prie, un essai avec tes serviteurs pendant dix jours, et qu’on nous donne des légumes à manger et de l’eau à boire. | 12 Test your servants, I beg you, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink. | 12 Versuche es doch mit deinen Knechten zehn Tage und laß uns geben Gemüse zu essen und Wasser zu trinken. |
| 13 Après cela, tu regarderas nos visages et le visage des jeunes gens qui mangent les mets du roi, et, selon que tu auras vu, tu agiras avec tes serviteurs. " | 13 Then let our faces be looked on before you, and the face of the youths who eat of the king’s dainties; and as you see, deal with your servants. | 13 Und laß dann vor dir unsre Gestalt und der Knaben, so von des Königs Speise essen, besehen ; und darnach du sehen wirst, darnach schaffe mit deinen Knechten. |
| 14 Il consentit à leur demande et les éprouva pendant dix jours. | 14 So he listened to them in this matter, and proved them ten days. | 14 Und er gehorchte ihnen darin und versuchte es mit ihnen zehn Tage. |
| 15 Au bout de dix jours, ils se trouvèrent avoir meilleur visage et plus d’embonpoint que tous les jeunes gens qui mangeaient les mets du roi. | 15 At the end of ten days their faces appeared fairer, and they were fatter in flesh, than all the youths who ate of the king’s dainties. | 15 Und nach den zehn Tagen waren sie schöner und besser bei Leibe denn alle Knaben, so von des Königs Speise aßen. |
| 16 Et le maître d’hôtel emportait les mets et le vin qu’ils devaient boire, et leur donnait des légumes. | 16 So the steward took away their dainties, and the wine that they should drink, and gave them pulse. | 16 Da tat der Aufseher ihre verordnete Speise und Trank weg und gab ihnen Gemüse. |
| 17 A ces jeunes gens, à tous les quatre, Dieu donna du savoir et de l’habileté dans toute la littérature et en toute sagesse, et Daniel avait l’intelligence de toutes sortes de visions et de songes. | 17 Now as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. | 17 Aber diesen vier Knaben gab Gott Kunst und Verstand in allerlei Schrift und Weisheit ; Daniel aber gab er Verstand in allen Gesichten und Träumen. |
| 18 Au bout du temps fixé par le roi pour les amener, le chef des eunuques les amena devant Nabuchodonosor. | 18 At the end of the days which the king had appointed for bringing them in, the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. | 18 Und da die Zeit um war, die der König bestimmt hatte, daß sie sollten hineingebracht werden, brachte sie der oberste Kämmerer hinein vor Nebukadnezar. |
| 19 Le roi s’entretint avec eux, et il ne se trouva personne parmi eux tous comme Daniel, Ananias, Misaël et Azarias ; ils furent donc admis au service du roi. | 19 The king talked with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king. | 19 Und der König redete mit ihnen, und ward unter allen niemand gefunden, der Daniel, Hananja, Misael und Asarja gleich wäre ; und sie wurden des Königs Diener. |
| 20 Sur tous les sujets qui réclamaient de la sagesse et de l’intelligence, et sur lesquels le roi les interrogeait, il les trouvait dix fois supérieurs à tous les lettrés et magiciens qui étaient en tout son royaume. | 20 In every matter of wisdom and understanding, concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters who were in all his realm. | 20 Und der König fand sie in allen Sachen, die er sie fragte zehnmal klüger und verständiger denn alle Sternseher und Weisen in seinem ganzen Reich. |

| 1 La seconde année du règne de Nabuchodonosor, Nabuchodonosor eut des songes, son esprit fut agité et le sommeil se retira de lui. | 1 In the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams; and his spirit was troubled, and his sleep went from him. | 1 Im zweiten Jahr des Reiches Nebukadnezars hatte Nebukadnezar einen Traum, davon er erschrak, daß er aufwachte. |
| 2 Le roi fit appeler les lettrés, les magiciens, les enchanteurs et les Chaldéens pour lui expliquer ses songes ; ils vinrent et ils se tinrent devant le roi. | 2 Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the enchanters, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, to tell the king his dreams. So they came in and stood before the king. | 2 Und er hieß alle Seher und Weisen und Zauberer und Chaldäer zusammenfordern, daß sie dem König seinen Traum sagen sollten. Und sie kamen und traten vor den König. |
| 3 Le roi leur dit : " J’ai fait un songe, et mon esprit est agité, cherchant à connaître ce songe. " | 3 The king said to them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit is troubled to know the dream. | 3 Und der König sprach zu ihnen : Ich habe einen Traum gehabt, der hat mich erschreckt ; und ich wollte gern wissen, was es für ein Traum gewesen sei. |
| 4 Les Chaldéens répondirent au roi en langue araméenne : " O roi, vis éternellement ! Dis le songe à tes serviteurs, et nous en ferons connaître la signification. " | 4 Then spoke the Chaldeans to the king in the Syrian language, O king, live forever: tell your servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation. | 4 Da sprachen die Chaldäer zum König auf chaldäisch : Der König lebe ewiglich ! Sage deinen Knechten den Traum, so wollen wir ihn deuten. |
| 5 Le roi répondit aux Chaldéens, en disant : " C’est chose arrêtée par moi. Si vous ne me faites savoir le songe et sa signification, vous serez coupés en morceaux et vos maisons seront réduites en cloaques. | 5 The king answered the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if you don’t make known to me the dream and its interpretation, you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill. | 5 Der König antwortete und sprach zu den Chaldäern : Es ist mir entfallen. Werdet ihr mir den Traum nicht anzeigen und ihn deuten, so sollt ihr in Stücke zerhauen und eure Häuser schändlich zerstört werden. |
| 6 Mais si vous me faîtes connaître le songe et sa signification, vous recevrez de moi des dons et des présents, et de grands honneurs ; ainsi faites-moi connaître le songe et sa signification. " | 6 But if you show the dream and its interpretation, you shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honor: therefore show me the dream and its interpretation. | 6 Werdet ihr mir aber den Traum anzeigen und deuten, so sollt ihr Geschenke, Gaben und große Ehre von mir haben. Darum so sagt mir den Traum und seine Deutung. |
| 7 Ils répondirent pour la deuxième fois en disant : " Que le roi dise le songe à ses serviteurs, et nous en ferons connaître la signification. " | 7 They answered the second time and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation. | 7 Sie antworteten wiederum und sprachen : Der König sage seinen Knechten den Traum, so wollen wir ihn deuten. |
| 8 Le roi répondit et dit : " En vérité, je sais que vous cherchez à gagner du temps, parce que vous voyez que c’est chose arrêtée par moi. | 8 The king answered, I know of a certainty that you would gain time, because you see the thing is gone from me. | 8 Der König antwortete und sprach : Wahrlich, ich merke es, daß ihr Frist sucht, weil ihr seht, daß mir’s entfallen ist. |
| 9 Puisque vous ne me faîtes pas savoir le songe, c’est que vous n’avez qu’une pensée, celle de concerter un discours mensonger et trompeur, pour le tenir devant moi, en attendant que les temps soient changés ; ainsi, dites-moi le songe et je saurai que vous pourrez m’en faire connaître la véritable signification. " | 9 But if you don’t make known to me the dream, there is but one law for you; for you have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, until the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that you can show me its interpretation. | 9 Aber werdet ihr mir nicht den Traum sagen, so geht das Recht über euch, als die ihr Lügen und Gedichte vor mir zu reden euch vorgenommen habt, bis die Zeit vorübergehe. Darum so sagt mir den Traum, so kann ich merken, daß ihr auch die Deutung trefft. |
| 10 Les Chaldéens répondirent devant le roi en disant : " Il n’y a pas d’homme sur la terre qui puisse faire connaître ce que le roi demande. Aussi jamais roi, si grand et si puissant qu’il ait été, n’a demandé pareille chose d’aucun lettré, astrologue ou Chaldéen. | 10 The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man on the earth who can show the king’s matter, because no king, lord, or ruler, has asked such a thing of any magician, or enchanter, or Chaldean. | 10 Da antworteten die Chaldäer vor dem König und sprachen zu ihm : Es ist kein Mensch auf Erden, der sagen könne, was der König fordert. So ist auch kein König, wie groß oder mächtig er sei, der solches von irgend einem Sternseher, Weisen oder Chaldäer fordere. |
| 11 La chose que le roi demande est difficile, et il n’y a personne qui puisse la faire connaître devant le roi, hormis les dieux dont la demeure n’est pas parmi les mortels. " | 11 It is a rare thing that the king requires, and there is no other who can show it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh. | 11 Denn was der König fordert, ist zu hoch, und ist auch sonst niemand, der es vor dem König sagen könne, ausgenommen die Götter, die bei den Menschen nicht wohnen. |
| 12 Là-dessus le roi se mit en colère et en grande fureur, et il donna l’ordre de mettre à mort tous les sages de Babylone. | 12 For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. | 12 Da ward der König sehr zornig und befahl, alle Weisen zu Babel umzubringen. |
| 13 La sentence ayant été publiée, les sages étaient mis à mort, et on cherchait Daniel et ses compagnons pour les tuer. | 13 So the decree went forth, and the wise men were to be slain; and they sought Daniel and his companions to be slain. | 13 Und das Urteil ging aus, daß man die Weisen töten sollte ; und Daniel samt seinen Gesellen ward auch gesucht, daß man sie tötete. |
| 14 Alors Daniel fit une réponse prudente et sensée à Arioch, chef des gardes du roi, qui était sorti pour mettre à mort les sages de Babylone. | 14 Then Daniel returned answer with counsel and prudence to Arioch the captain of the king’s guard, who was gone forth to kill the wise men of Babylon; | 14 Da erwiderte Daniel klug und verständig dem Arioch, dem obersten Richter des Königs, welcher auszog, zu töten die Weisen zu Babel. |
| 15 Il prit la parole et dit à Arioch, commandant du roi : " Pourquoi cette sentence sévère de la part du roi ? " Et Arioch exposa la chose à Daniel. | 15 he answered Arioch the king’s captain, Why is the decree so urgent from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel. | 15 Und er fing an und sprach zu des Königs Vogt, Arioch : Warum ist ein so strenges Urteil vom König ausgegangan ? Und Arioch zeigte es dem Daniel an. |
| 16 Alors Daniel entra dans le palais et pria le roi de lui accorder un délai afin de faire connaître au roi la signification. | 16 Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would appoint him a time, and he would show the king the interpretation. | 16 Da ging Daniel hinein und bat den König, daß er ihm Frist gäbe, damit er die Deutung dem König sagen möchte. |
| 17 Aussitôt Daniel alla dans sa maison et informa de l’affaire Ananias, Misaël et Azarias, ses compagnons, | 17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions: | 17 Und Daniel ging heim und zeigte solches an seinen Gesellen, Hananja, Misael und Asarja, |
| 18 les engageant à implorer la miséricorde du Dieu du ciel sur ce mystère, pour qu’on ne fit point périr Daniel et ses compagnons avec le reste des sages de Babylone. | 18 that they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his companions should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. | 18 daß sie den Gott des Himmels um Gnade bäten solches verborgenen Dinges halben, damit Daniel und seine Gesellen nicht samt den andern Weisen zu Babel umkämen. |
| 19 Alors le secret fut révélé à Daniel dans une vision pendant la nuit, et Daniel bénit le Dieu du ciel. | 19 Then was the secret revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven. | 19 Da ward Daniel solch verborgenes Ding durch ein Gesicht des Nachts offenbart. |
| 20 Daniel prit la parole et dit : " Béni soit le nom de Dieu, d’éternité en éternité, car à lui appartiennent la sagesse et la force. | 20 Daniel answered, Blessed be the name of God forever and ever; for wisdom and might are his. | 20 Darüber lobte Daniel den Gott des Himmels, fing an und sprach : Gelobt sei der Name Gottes von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit ! denn sein ist beides, Weisheit und Stärke. |
| 21 C’est lui qui change les moments et les temps, qui renverse les rois et qui élève les rois, qui donne la sagesse aux sages et le savoir aux intelligents. | 21 He changes the times and the seasons; he removes kings, and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those who have understanding; | 21 Er ändert Zeit und Stunde ; er setzt Könige ab und setzt Könige ein ; er gibt den Weisen ihre Weisheit und den Verständigen ihren Verstand ; |
| 22 C’est lui qui révèle les choses profondes et cachées, qui sait ce qui est dans les ténèbres, et la lumière demeure avec lui. | 22 he reveals the deep and secret things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him. | 22 er offenbart, was tief und verborgen ist ; er weiß, was in der Finsternis liegt, denn bei ihm ist eitel Licht. |
| 23 C’est vous, Dieu de mes pères, que je célèbre et que je loue de ce que vous m’avez donné la sagesse et la force, et de ce que maintenant vous m’avez fait savoir ce que nous vous avons demandé, en nous faisant savoir l’affaire du roi. " | 23 I thank you, and praise you, you God of my fathers, who have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we desired of you; for you have made known to us the king’s matter. | 23 Ich danke dir und lobe dich, Gott meiner Väter, der du mir Weisheit und Stärke verleihst und jetzt offenbart hast, darum wir dich gebeten haben ; denn du hast uns des Königs Sache offenbart. |
| 24 C’est pourquoi Daniel se rendit auprès d’Arioch, que le roi avait chargé de mettre à mort les sages de Babylone ; il alla et lui parla ainsi : " Ne fais pas périr les sages de Babylone ; introduis-moi devant le roi, et je ferai connaître au roi la signification. " | 24 Therefore Daniel went in to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon; he went and said thus to him: Don’t destroy the wise men of Babylon; bring me in before the king, and I will show to the king the interpretation. | 24 Da ging Daniel hinein zu Arioch, der vom König Befehl hatte, die : Du sollst Weisen zu Babel umzubringen, und sprach zu ihm also die Weisen zu Babel nicht umbringen, sondern führe mich hinein zum König, ich will dem König die Deutung sagen. |
| 25 Arioch s’empressa de faire entrer Daniel devant le roi et lui parla ainsi : " J’ai trouvé parmi les captifs de Juda un homme qui fera savoir au roi la signification. " | 25 Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus to him, I have found a man of the children of the captivity of Judah, who will make known to the king the interpretation. | 25 Arioch brachte Daniel eilends hinein vor den König und sprach zu ihm also : Es ist einer gefunden unter den Gefangenen aus Juda, der dem König die Deutung sagen kann. |
| 26 Le roi prit la parole et dit à Daniel, qui s’appelait Baltassar : " Es-tu capable de me faire savoir le songe que j’ai eu et sa signification ? " | 26 The king answered Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen, and its interpretation? | 26 Der König antwortete und sprach zu Daniel, den sie Beltsazar hießen : Bist du, der mir den Traum, den ich gesehen habe, und seine Deutung anzeigen kann ? |
| 27 Daniel répondit en présence du roi et dit : " Le secret que le roi demande, ni sages, ni magiciens, ni lettrés, ni astrologues ne sont capables de le faire connaître au roi. | 27 Daniel answered before the king, and said, The secret which the king has demanded can neither wise men, enchanters, magicians, nor soothsayers, show to the king; | 27 Daniel fing an vor dem König und sprach : Das verborgene Ding, das der König fordert von den Weisen, Gelehrten, Sterndeutern und Wahrsagern, steht in ihrem Vermögen nicht, dem König zu sagen. |
| 28 Mais il y a un Dieu dans le ciel qui révèle les secrets et qui a fait savoir au roi Nabuchodonosor ce qui doit arriver à la fin des jours. Ton songe et les visions de ton esprit que tu as eues sur ta couche, les voici : | 28 but there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and he has made known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head on your bed, are these: | 28 Aber es ist ein Gott im Himmel, der kann verborgene Dinge offenbaren ; der hat dem König Nebukadnezar angezeigt, was in künftigen Zeiten geschehen soll. |
| 29 Toi, ô roi, tes pensées s’élevaient en ton esprit sur ta couche au sujet de ce qui arriverait après ce temps-ci, et celui qui révèle les secrets t’a fait connaître ce qui doit arriver. | 29 as for you, O king, your thoughts came into your mind on your bed, what should happen hereafter; and he who reveals secrets has made known to you what shall happen. | 29 Mit deinem Traum und deinem Gesichten, da du schliefest, verhielt sich’s also : Du, König, dachtest auf deinem Bette, wie es doch hernach zugehen würde ; und der, so verborgene Dinge offenbart, hat dir angezeigt, wie es gehen werde. |

" | 15 Now if you are ready whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music to fall down and worship the image which I have made, well: but if you don’t worship, you shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that god that shall deliver you out of my hands? | 15 Wohlan schickt euch ! | 22 Comme l’ordre du roi était pressant et la fournaise extraordinairement chauffée, la flamme de feu tua ces hommes qui y avaient jeté Sidrac, Misac et Abdénago. | 22 Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. | 22 denn des Königs Gebot mußte man eilends tun. | 20 Si le roi a vu un veillant, un saint, descendant du ciel et disant : Abattez l’arbre et détruisez-le ; toutefois laissez en terre la souche de ses racines, mais dans des chaînes de fer et d’airain, au milieu du gazon des champs ; qu’il soit trempé de la rosée du ciel, et qu’il fasse sa part avec les animaux des champs, jusqu’à ce que sept temps aient passé sur lui : en voici la signification, ô roi ! | 23 Whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from the sky, and saying, Cut down the tree, and destroy it; nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field, and let it be wet with the dew of the sky: and let his portion be with the animals of the field, until seven times pass over him; | 20 Daß aber der König einen heiligen Wächter gesehen hat vom Himmel herabfahren und sagen : Haut den Baum um und verderbt ihn ; doch den Stock mit seinen Wurzeln laßt in der Erde bleiben ; er aber soll in eisernen und ehernen Ketten auf dem Felde im Grase gehen und unter dem Tau des Himmels liegen und naß werden und sich mit den Tieren auf dem Felde weiden, bis über ihn sieben Zeiten um sind, |

| 22 On te chassera du milieu des hommes, et ta demeure sera parmi les animaux des champs ; on te donnera, comme aux bœufs, de l’herbe à manger et on te laissera tremper par la rosée du ciel, et sept temps passeront sur toi, jusqu’à ce que tu saches que le Très-Haut domine sur la royauté des hommes et qu’il la donne à qui il lui plaît. | 25 that you shall be driven from men, and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field, and you shall be made to eat grass as oxen, and shall be wet with the dew of the sky, and seven times shall pass over you; until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will. | 22 Man wird dich von den Leuten stoßen, und du mußt bei den Tieren auf dem Felde bleiben, und man wird dich Gras essen lassen wie die Ochsen, und wirst unter dem Tau des Himmels liegen und naß werden, bis über dir sieben Zeiten um sind, auf daß du erkennst, daß der Höchste Gewalt hat über der Menschen Königreiche und gibt sie, wem er will. |
| 23 Et si on a ordonné de laisser la souche des racines de l’arbre, c’est que ta royauté te sera rendue quand tu auras reconnu que le ciel a la domination. | 26 Whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the roots of the tree; your kingdom shall be sure to you, after that you shall have known that the heavens do rule. | 23 Daß aber gesagt ist, man solle dennoch den Stock des Baumes mit seinen Wurzeln bleiben lassen : dein Königreich soll dir bleiben, wenn du erkannt hast die Gewalt im Himmel. |
| 24 C’est pourquoi, ô roi, que mon conseil soit agréé devant toi : rachète tes péchés par la justice et tes iniquités par la miséricorde envers les malheureux, si ta prospérité doit se prolonger encore. " | 27 Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if there may be a lengthening of your tranquility. | 24 Darum, Herr König, laß dir meinen Rat gefallen und mache dich los von deinen Sünden durch Gerechtigkeit und ledig von deiner Missetat durch Wohltat an den Armen, so wird dein Glück lange währen. |

| 27 le roi prit la parole et dit : " N’est-ce pas là Babylone la grande, que j’ai bâtie comme résidence royale par la puissance de ma force et pour la gloire de ma majesté. " | 35 All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand, or ask him, What are you doing? | 32 gegen welchen alle, so auf Erden wohnen, als nichts zu rechnen sind. | 33 Dans le même temps, ma raison me revint et, pour la gloire de ma royauté, ma majesté et ma splendeur me revinrent ; mes conseillers et mes grands me rappelèrent, je fus rétabli dans ma royauté, et ma puissance s’accrut encore. | 36 At the same time my understanding returned to me; and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and brightness returned to me; and my counselors and my lords sought to me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent greatness was added to me. | 33 Zur selben Zeit kam ich wieder zur Vernunft, auch zu meinen königlichen Ehren, zu meiner Herrlichkeit und zu meiner Gestalt. | 7 Le roi cria avec force qu’on fit venir les magiciens, les Chaldéens et les astrologues ; et le roi prit la parole et dit aux sages de Babylone : " Quiconque lira cette écriture et m’en fera connaître la signification, sera revêtu de pourpre et portera au cou une chaîne d’or, et il commandera en troisième dans le royaume. " | 7 The king cried aloud to bring in the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. The king spoke and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whoever shall read this writing, and show me its interpretation, shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom. | 7 Und der König rief überlaut, daß man die Weisen, Chaldäer und Wahrsager hereinbringen sollte. Und er ließ den Weisen zu Babel sagen : Welcher Mensch diese Schrift liest und sagen kann, was sie bedeute, der soll in Purpur gekleidet werden und eine goldene Kette am Halse tragen und der dritte Herr sein in meinem Königreiche. |
| 8 Alors tous les sages du roi entrèrent, mais ils ne purent lire ce qui était écrit, ni en faire savoir la signification au roi. | 8 Then came in all the king’s wise men; but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation. | 8 Da wurden alle Weisen des Königs hereingebracht ; aber sie konnten weder die Schrift lesen noch die Deutung dem König anzeigen. |

Que tes pensées ne te troublent pas, et que tes couleurs ne changent point ! | 10 Now the queen by reason of the words of the king and his lords came into the banquet house: the queen spoke and said, O king, live forever; don’t let your thoughts trouble you, nor let your face be changed. | 10 Da ging die Königin um solcher Sache des Königs und seiner : Der König lebe Gewaltigen willen hinein in den Saal und sprach ewiglich ! | 11 Il y a un homme de ton royaume en qui réside l’esprit des dieux saints ; dans les jours de ton père, on trouva en lui une lumière, une intelligence et une sagesse pareilles à la sagesse des dieux. Aussi le roi Nabuchodonosor ton père, — le roi, ton père, — l’établit chef des lettrés, des magiciens, des Chaldéens, des astrologues, parce qu’un esprit supérieur, | 11 There is a man in your kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him; and the king Nebuchadnezzar your father, the king, I say, your father, made him master of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, and soothsayers; | 11 Es ist ein Mann in deinem Königreich, der den Geist der heiligen Götter hat. Denn zu deines Vaters Zeit ward bei ihm Erleuchtung gefunden, Klugheit und Weisheit, wie der Götter Weisheit ist ; und dein Vater, König Nebukadnezar, setzte ihn über die Sternseher, Weisen, Chaldäer und Wahrsager, |
| 12 de la science et de l’intelligence pour interpréter les songes, pour faire connaître les énigmes et résoudre les questions difficiles furent trouvés en lui, en Daniel, à qui le roi avait donné le nom de Baltassar. Qu’on appelle donc Daniel et il te fera connaître la signification ! " | 12 because an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and showing of dark sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show the interpretation. | 12 darum daß ein hoher Geist bei ihm gefunden ward, dazu Verstand und Klugheit, Träume zu deuten, dunkle Sprüche zu erraten und verborgene Sachen zu offenbaren : nämlich Daniel, den der König ließ Beltsazar nennen. The king spoke and said to Daniel, Are you that Daniel, who are of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Judah? | 13 Da ward Daniel hinein vor den König gebracht. Und der König sprach zu Daniel : Bist du der Daniel, der Gefangenen einer aus Juda, die der König, mein Vater aus Juda hergebracht hat ? |
| 14 J’ai entendu dire à ton sujet que l’esprit des dieux est en toi, qu’une lumière, une intelligence et une sagesse extraordinaires se trouvent en toi. | 14 I have heard of you, that the spirit of the gods is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you. | 14 Ich habe von dir hören sagen, daß du den Geist der Götter hast und Erleuchtung, Verstand und hohe Weisheit bei dir gefunden sei. |
| 15 On vient d’introduire devant moi les sages et les magiciens pour lire cette écriture et m’en faire savoir la signification ; mais ils n’ont pu me faire connaître la signification de ces mots. | 15 Now the wise men, the enchanters, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known to me its interpretation; but they could not show the interpretation of the thing. | 15 Nun habe ich vor mich fordern lassen die Klugen und Weisen, daß sie mir diese Schrift lesen und anzeigen sollen, was sie bedeutet : und sie können mir nicht sagen, was solches bedeutet. |
| 16 Et moi, j’ai entendu dire de toi que tu peux donner les significations et résoudre les questions difficiles. Si donc tu peux lire ce qui est écrit et m’en faire savoir la signification, tu seras revêtu de pourpre, tu porteras au cou une chaîne d’or, et tu commanderas en troisième dans le royaume. " | 16 But I have heard of you, that you can give interpretations, and dissolve doubts; now if you can read the writing, and make known to me its interpretation, you shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about your neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom. | 16 Von dir aber höre ich, daß du könnest Deutungen geben und das Verborgene offenbaren. Kannst du nun die Schrift lesen und mir anzeigen, was sie bedeutet, so sollst du mit Purpur gekleidet werden und eine golden Kette an deinem Halse tragen und der dritte Herr sein in meinem Königreiche. |
| 17 Alors Daniel prit la parole et dit devant le roi : " Que tes dons soient à toi, et donne à un autre tes présents ! Toutefois je lirai au roi ce qui est écrit et je lui en ferai savoir la signification. | 17 Then Daniel answered before the king, Let your gifts be to yourself, and give your rewards to another; nevertheless I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation. | 17 Da fing Daniel an und redete vor dem König : Behalte deine Gaben selbst und gib dein Geschenk einem andern ; ich will dennoch die Schrift dem König lesen und anzeigen, was sie bedeutet. |
| 18 O roi, le Dieu Très-Haut avait donné à Nabuchodonosor, ton père, la royauté et la grandeur, la gloire et la majesté ; | 18 You, king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty: | 18 Herr König, Gott der Höchste hat deinem Vater, Nebukadnezar, Königreich, Macht, Ehre und Herrlichkeit gegeben. |
| 19 et à cause de la grandeur qu’il lui avait donnée, tous les peuples, nations et langues étaient dans la crainte et tremblaient devant lui ; il faisait mourir qui il voulait, et il donnait la vie à qui il voulait ; il élevait qui il voulait, et il abaissait qui il voulait. | 19 and because of the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him: whom he would he killed, and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he raised up, and whom he would he put down. | 19 Und vor solcher Macht, die ihm gegeben war, fürchteten sich vor ihm alle Völker, Leute und Zungen. Er tötete wen er wollte ; er ließ leben, wen er wollte ; er erhöhte, wen er wollte ; er demütigt, wen er wollte. |
| 20 Mais son cœur s’étant élevé et son esprit s’étant endurci jusqu’à l’arrogance, on le fit descendre du trône de sa royauté et la grandeur lui fut ôtée. | 20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him: | 20 Da sich aber sein Herz erhob und er stolz und hochmütig ward, ward er vom königlichen Stuhl gestoßen und verlor seine Ehre |
| 21 Il fut chassé du milieu des enfants des hommes, son cœur devint semblable à celui des bêtes et sa demeure fut avec les ânes sauvages ; on le nourrit d’herbe comme les bœufs, et son corps fut trempé de la rosée du ciel, jusqu’à ce qu’il reconnût que le Dieu Très-haut domine sur la royauté des hommes, et qu’il y élève qui il lui plaît. | 21 and he was driven from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the animals’, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys; he was fed with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the sky; until he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and that he sets up over it whomever he will. | 21 und ward verstoßen von den Leuten hinweg, und sein Herz ward gleich den Tieren, und er mußte bei dem Wild laufen und fraß Gras wie Ochsen, und sein Leib lag unterm Tau des Himmels, und er ward naß, bis daß er lernte, daß Gott der Höchste Gewalt hat über der Menschen Königreiche und gibt sie, wem er will. |

| 23 Mais tu t’es élevé contre le Seigneur du ciel ; on a apporté devant toi les vases de sa maison, et toi, tes princes, tes femmes et tes concubines, vous y avez bu du vin ; tu as loué les dieux d’argent et d’or, d’airain, de fer, de bois et de pierre, qui ne voient, ni n’entendent, ni ne connaissent rien ; et le Dieu qui a dans sa main ton souffle et de qui relèvent toutes tes voies, tu ne l’as pas glorifié. | 23 but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them; and you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which don’t see, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways, you have not glorified. | 23 sondern hast dich wider den Herrn des Himmels erhoben, und die Gefäße seines Hauses hat man vor dich bringen müssen, und du, deine Gewaltigen, deine Weiber und deine Kebsweiber habt daraus getrunken, dazu die silbernen, goldenen, ehernen, eisernen, hölzernen und steinernen Götter gelobt, die weder sehen noch hören noch fühlen ; den Gott aber, der deinen Odem und alle deine Wege in seiner Hand hat, hast du nicht geehrt. |

| 4 Or Daniel surpassait les ministres et les satrapes, parce qu’il y avait en lui un esprit supérieur, et le roi pensait à l’établir sur tout le royaume. | 3 Then this Daniel was distinguished above the presidents and the satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. | 3 Daniel aber übertraf die Fürsten und Landvögte alle, denn es war ein hoher Geist in ihm ; darum gedachte der König, ihn über das ganze Königreich zu setzen. |
| 5 Alors les ministres et les satrapes cherchèrent à trouver un sujet d’accusation contre Daniel touchant les affaires du royaume ; mais ils ne purent trouver aucun sujet, ni rien à reprendre ; car il était fidèle, et il ne se trouvait en lui rien de fautif, ni de répréhensible. | 4 Then the presidents and the satraps sought to find occasion against Daniel as touching the kingdom; but they could find no occasion nor fault, because he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. | 4 Derhalben trachteten die Fürsten und Landvögte darnach, wie sie eine Sache an Daniel fänden, die wider das Königreich wäre. | 11 Lorsque Daniel eut appris que le décret était écrit, il entra dans sa maison, qui avait, dans la chambre haute, des fenêtres ouvertes du côté de Jérusalem. Trois fois par jour il se mettait à genoux, il priait et louait Dieu, comme il le faisait auparavant. | 10 When Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house (now his windows were open in his chamber toward Jerusalem) and he kneeled on his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did before. | 10 Als nun Daniel erfuhr, daß solch Gebot unterschrieben wäre, ging er hinein in sein Haus (er hatte aber an seinem Söller offene Fenster gegen Jerusalem) ; und er fiel des Tages dreimal auf seine Kniee, betete, lobte und dankte seinem Gott, wie er denn bisher zu tun pflegte. |

" | 12 Then they came near, and spoke before the king concerning the king’s decree: Haven’t you signed an decree, that every man who shall make petition to any god or man within thirty days, except to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? Le roi prit la parole et dit à Daniel : " Puisse ton Dieu, que tu sers constamment, te délivrer lui-même ! " | 16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. | 18 On apporta une pierre et on la mit sur l’ouverture de la fosse ; le roi la scella de son anneau et de l’anneau des princes, afin que rien ne fût changé à l’égard de Daniel. | 17 A stone was brought, and laid on the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel. | 17 Und sie brachten einen Stein, den legten sie vor die Tür am Graben ; den versiegelte der König mit seinem eigenen Ring und mit dem Ring der Gewaltigen, auf daß nichts anderes mit Daniel geschähe. |

| 21 Quand il fut près de la fosse, il cria vers Daniel d’une voix triste ; le roi prit la parole et dit à Daniel : " Daniel, serviteur du Dieu vivant, ton Dieu que tu sers constamment a-t-il pu te délivrer des lions ? " | 20 When he came near to the den to Daniel, he cried with a lamentable voice; the king spoke and said to Daniel, Daniel, servant of the living God, is your God, whom you serve continually, able to deliver you from the lions? | 20 Und als er zum Graben kam rief er Daniel mit kläglicher Stimme. | 24 Alors le roi fut très joyeux à son sujet, et il ordonna de retirer Daniel de la fosse. Daniel fut donc retiré de la fosse, et on ne trouva sur lui aucune blessure, parce qu’il avait cru en son Dieu. | 23 Then was the king exceeding glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found on him, because he had trusted in his God. | 23 Da ward der König sehr froh und hieß Daniel aus dem Graben ziehen. Ils n’avaient pas encore atteint le fond de la fosse, que les lions les saisirent et brisèrent tous leurs os. | 24 The king commanded, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and broke all their bones in pieces, before they came to the bottom of the den. | 24 Da hieß er die Männer, so Daniel verklagt hatten, herbringen und zu den Löwen in den Graben werfen samt ihren Weibern und Kindern. | 27 Par moi est publié l’ordre que dans toute l’étendue de mon royaume on craigne et on tremble devant le Dieu de Daniel ; car il est le Dieu vivant, qui subsiste éternellement ; son royaume ne sera jamais détruit et sa domination n’aura pas de fin. | 26 I make a decree, that in all the dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for he is the living God, and steadfast forever, His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed; and his dominion shall be even to the end. | 26 Das ist mein Befehl, daß man in der ganzen Herrschaft meines Königreiches den Gott Daniels fürchten und scheuen soll. | 6 Il arriva jusqu’au bélier aux deux cornes, que j’avais vu se tenant devant le fleuve, et il courut contre lui dans l’ardeur de sa force. | 6 He came to the ram that had the two horns, which I saw standing before the river, and ran on him in the fury of his power. | 6 Und er kam bis zu dem Widder der zwei Hörner hatte, den ich stehen sah vor dem Wasser, und er lief in seinem Zorn gewaltig auf ihn zu. |
| 7 Je le vis s’approcher du bélier ; s’irritant contre lui, il frappa le bélier et lui brisa les deux cornes, sans que le bélier eut la force de se tenir devant lui ; il le jeta par terre et le foula aux pieds, et personne ne délivrait le bélier de sa main. | 7 I saw him come close to the ram, and he was moved with anger against him, and struck the ram, and broke his two horns; and there was no power in the ram to stand before him; but he cast him down to the ground, and trampled on him; and there was none who could deliver the ram out of his hand. | 7 Und ich sah ihm zu, daß er hart an den Widder kam, und er ergrimmte über ihn und stieß den Widder und zerbrach ihm seine zwei Hörner. | 11 Elle grandit jusqu’au chef de l’armée et lui enleva le culte perpétuel, et le lieu de son sanctuaire fut renversé. | 11 Yes, it magnified itself, even to the prince of the army; and it took away from him the continual burnt offering, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. | 11 Ja es wuchs bis an den Fürsten des Heeres und nahm von ihm weg das tägliche Opfer und verwüstete die Wohnung seines Heiligtums. |
| 12 Et une armée a été livrée par infidélité, avec le culte perpétuel, et la corne a jeté la vérité par terre ; elle l’a fait et elle a réussi. | 12 The army was given over to it together with the continual burnt offering through disobedience; and it cast down truth to the ground, and it did its pleasure and prospered. | 12 Es ward ihm aber solche Macht gegeben wider das tägliche Opfer um der Sünde willen, daß es die Wahrheit zu Boden schlüge und, was es tat, ihm gelingen mußte. |
| 13 Et j’entendis un saint qui parlait : et un autre saint dit à celui qui parlait : " Jusqu’à quand durera ce qu’annonce la vision touchant le culte perpétuel, le péché de désolation. ainsi que l’abandon du sanctuaire et de l’armée pour être foulés ? " | 13 Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who spoke, How long shall be the vision concerning the continual burnt offering, and the disobedience that makes desolate, to give both the sanctuary and the army to be trodden under foot? | 13 Ich hörte aber einen Heiligen reden ; und ein Heiliger sprach zu : Wie lange soll doch währen solch Gesicht vom dem, der da redete täglichen Opfer und von der Sünde, um welcher willen diese Verwüstung geschieht, daß beide, das Heiligtum und das Heer zertreten werden ? |

| 11 Tout Israël a transgressé votre loi et s’est détourné pour ne pas écouter votre voix ; alors se sont répandues sur nous la malédiction et l’imprécation qui sont écrites dans la loi de Moïse, serviteur de Dieu, parce que nous avons péché contre lui. | 11 Yes, all Israel have transgressed your law, turning aside, that they should not obey your voice: therefore the curse and the oath written in the law of Moses the servant of God has been poured out on us; for we have sinned against him. | 11 sondern das ganze Israel übertrat dein Gesetz, und sie wichen ab, daß sie deiner Stimme nicht gehorchten. Darum trifft uns auch der Fluch und Schwur, der geschrieben steht im Gesetz Moses, des Knechtes Gottes, weil wir an ihm gesündigt haben. |
| 12 Il a tenu ses paroles qu’il a prononcées contre nous et contre nos juges qui nous jugeaient, en faisant venir sur nous une calamité si grande, qu’il n’en est jamais arrivé sous le ciel de pareille à celle qui est arrivée à Jérusalem. | 12 He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us, and against our judges who judged us, by bringing on us a great evil; for under the whole sky, such has not been done as has been done to Jerusalem. | 12 Und er hat seine Worte gehalten, die er geredet hat wider uns und unsre Richter, die uns richten sollten, daß er so großes Unglück über uns hat gehen lassen, daß desgleichen unter dem ganzen Himmel nicht geschehen ist, wie über Jerusalem geschehen ist. |
| 13 Comme il est écrit dans la loi de Dieu, toute cette calamité est venue sur nous, et nous n’avons pas cherché à apaiser Yahweh, notre Dieu, en nous détournant de nos iniquités et en nous rendant attentifs à votre Vérité. | 13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come on us: yet have we not entreated the favor of Yahweh our God, that we should turn from our iniquities, and have discernment in your truth. | 13 Gleichwie es geschrieben steht im Gesetz Mose’s, so ist all dies große Unglück über uns gegangen. So beteten wir auch nicht vor dem Herrn, unserm Gott, daß wir uns von den Sünden bekehrten und auf deine Wahrheit achteten. |
| 14 Et Yahweh a veillé sur le mal, et il l’a fait venir sur nous ; car Yahweh, notre Dieu, est juste dans toutes ses œuvres qu’il a faites, et nous n’avons pas écouté sa voix. | 14 Therefore has Yahweh watched over the evil, and brought it on us; for Yahweh our God is righteous in all his works which he does, and we have not obeyed his voice. | 14 Darum ist der Herr auch wach gewesen mit diesem Unglück und hat’s über uns gehen lassen. Denn der Herr, unser Gott, ist gerecht in allen seinen Werken, die er tut ; denn wir gehorchten seiner Stimme nicht. |
| 15 Maintenant, Seigneur, notre Dieu, qui avez tiré votre peuple du pays d’Égypte par votre main puissante, et qui vous êtes fait un nom, comme il est aujourd’hui, nous avons péché, nous avons été méchants. | 15 Now, Lord our God, who has brought your people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and have gotten yourself renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly. | 15 Und nun, Herr, unser Gott, der du dein Volk aus Ägyptenland geführt hast mit starker Hand und hast dir einen Namen gemacht, wie er jetzt ist : wir haben ja gesündigt und sind leider gottlos gewesen. |
| 16 Seigneur, puissent, selon toutes vos justices, votre colère et votre indignation se détourner de votre ville de Jérusalem, votre montagne sainte ; car c’est à cause de nos péchés et des iniquités de nos pères que Jérusalem et votre peuple sont en opprobre à tous ceux qui nous entourent. | 16 Lord, according to all your righteousness, let your anger and please let your wrath be turned away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and your people have become a reproach to all who are around us. | 16 Ach Herr, um aller deiner Gerechtigkeit willen wende ab deinen Zorn und Grimm von deiner Stadt Jerusalem und deinem heiligen Berge. So merke nun darauf, daß du das Gesicht verstehest. |
| 24 Sois donc attentif à la parole et comprends la vision. Soixante-dix semaines ont été déterminées sur ton peuple et sur ta ville sainte pour enfermer la prévarication, pour sceller les péchés et pour expier l’iniquité, et pour amener la justice éternelle, pour sceller vision et prophète et pour oindre le Saint des saints. | 24 Seventy weeks are decreed on your people and on your holy city, to finish disobedience, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy. | 24 Siebzig Wochen sind bestimmt über dein Volk und über die heilige Stadt, so wird dem Übertreten gewehrt und die Sünde abgetan und die Missetat versöhnt und die ewige Gerechtigkeit gebracht und die Gesichte und Weissagung versiegelt und ein Hochheiliges gesalbt werden. |
| 25 Sache donc et comprends : depuis la sortie d’une parole ordonnant de rebâtir Jérusalem jusqu’à un oint, un chef, il y a sept semaines, et soixante-deux semaines ; elle sera rebâtie, places et enceinte, dans la détresse des temps. | 25 Know therefore and discern, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem to the [#N4 Anointed One,] the prince, shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks: it shall be built again, with street and moat, even in troubled times. | 25 So wisse nun und merke : von der Zeit an, da ausgeht der Befehl, daß Jerusalem soll wieder gebaut werden, bis auf den Gesalbten, den Fürsten, sind sieben Wochen ; und zweiundsechzig Wochen, so werden die Gassen und Mauern wieder gebaut werden, wiewohl in kümmerlicher Zeit. |
| 26 Et après soixante-deux semaines, un oint sera retranché, et personne pour lui. Et le peuple d’un chef qui viendra détruira la ville et le sanctuaire, et sa fin sera dans l’inondation, et jusqu’à la fin il y aura guerre, ce qui est décrété touchant la dévastation. | 26 After the sixty-two weeks the [#N5 Anointed One] shall be cut off, and shall have nothing: and the people of the prince who shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and its end shall be with a flood, and even to the end shall be war; desolations are determined. | 26 Und nach den zweiundsechzig Wochen wird der Gesalbte ausgerottet werden und nichts mehr sein. | 27 Il conclura une alliance ferme avec un grand nombre pendant une semaine ; et, au milieu de la semaine, il fera cesser le sacrifice et l’oblation, et sur l’aile des abominations viendra un dévastateur, et cela jusqu’à ce que la destruction et ce qui a été décrété se répandent sur le dévasté. | 27 He shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease; and on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate; and even to the full end, and that determined, shall wrath be poured out on the desolate. | 27 Er wird aber vielen den Bund stärken eine Woche lang. Il comprit la parole et il eut l’intelligence de la vision : | 1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, even a great warfare: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision. | 1 Im dritten Jahr des Königs Kores aus Persien ward dem Daniel, der Beltsazar heißt, etwas offenbart, das gewiß ist und von großen Sachen ; und er merkte darauf und verstand das Gesicht wohl. |

| 8 Et moi, je restai seul et je vis cette grande apparition, et il ne resta plus en moi de force ; mon visage changea de couleur et se décomposa sans conserver aucune force. | 8 So I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me; for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength. | 8 Und ich blieb allein und sah dies große Gesicht. " Quand il m’eut parlé en ces termes, je me tins debout en tremblant. | 11 He said to me, Daniel, you man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright; for am I now sent to you. When he had spoken this word to me, I stood trembling. | 11 und er sprach zu mir : Du, lieber Daniel, merke auf die Worte, die ich mit dir rede, und richte dich auf ; denn ich bin jetzt zu dir gesandt. Und da er solches mit mir redete, richtete ich mich auf und zitterte. |
| 12 Il me dit : " Ne crains point, Daniel, car dès le premier jour où tu as appliqué ton cœur à comprendre et à t’humilier devant ton Dieu, tes paroles ont été entendues, et moi, je suis venu à cause de tes paroles. | 12 Then said he to me, Don’t be afraid, Daniel; for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard: and I have come for your words’ sake. | 12 Und er sprach zu mir : Fürchte dich nicht, Daniel ; denn von dem ersten Tage an, da du von Herzen begehrtest zu verstehen und dich kasteitest vor deinem Gott, sind deine Worte erhört ; und ich bin gekommen um deinetwillen. |
| 13 Mais le chef du royaume de Perse s’est tenu devant moi vingt et un jours, et voici que Michel, un des premiers chefs, est venu à mon secours, et je suis resté là auprès des rois de Perse. | 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; but, behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me: and I remained there with the kings of Persia. | 13 Aber der Fürst des Königreiches im Perserland hat mir einundzwanzig Tage widerstanden ; und siehe, Michael, der vornehmsten Fürsten einer, kam mir zu Hilfe ; da behielt ich den Sieg bei den Königen in Persien. |
| 14 Et je suis venu pour te faire comprendre ce qui doit arriver à ton peuple à la fin des jours ; car c’est encore une vision pour des jours lointains. | 14 Now I have come to make you understand what shall happen to your people in the latter days; for the vision is yet for many days: | 14 Nun aber komme ich, daß ich dich unterrichte, wie es deinem Volk hernach gehen wird ; denn das Gesicht wird erst nach etlicher Zeit geschehen. |
| 15 Pendant qu’il parlait avec moi en ces termes, je tournais la face vers la terre et je restais muet. | 15 and when he had spoken to me according to these words, I set my face toward the ground, and was mute. | 15 Und als er solches mit mir redete, schlug ich mein Angesicht nieder zur Erde und schwieg still. |
| 16 Et voici : comme une ressemblance de fils de l’homme toucha mes lèvres, et j’ouvris la bouche et je parlai ; je dis à celui qui se tenait devant moi : " Mon seigneur, à cette apparition, les angoisses m’ont saisi et je n’ai conservé aucune force. | 16 Behold, one in the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spoke and said to him who stood before me, my lord, by reason of the vision my sorrows are turned on me, and I retain no strength. | 16 Und siehe, einer, gleich einem Menschen, rührte meine Lippen an. Da tat ich meinen Mund auf und redete und sprach zu dem, der vor mir stand : Mein Herr, meine Gelenke beben mir über dem Gesicht, und ich habe keine Kraft mehr ; |
| 17 Comment le serviteur de mon seigneur que voici pourrait-il parler à mon seigneur que voilà ? En ce moment, il n’y a plus de force en moi et il ne reste plus de souffle en moi. " | 17 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, immediately there remained no strength in me, neither was there breath left in me. | 17 und wie kann der Knecht meines Herrn mit meinem Herrn reden, weil nun keine Kraft mehr in mir ist und ich auch keinen Odem mehr habe ? |
| 18 Alors celui qui avait la ressemblance d’un homme me toucha de nouveau et me fortifia. | 18 Then there touched me again one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me. | 18 Da rührte einer, gleich wie ein Mensch gestaltet, mich abermals an und stärkte mich |
| 19 Puis il me dit : " Ne crains point, homme favorisé de Dieu ; que la paix soit avec toi ! Courage ! courage ! " Pendant qu’il parlait avec moi, je repris des forces et je dis : " Que mon seigneur parle, car tu m’as fortifié. " | 19 He said, “Greatly beloved man, don’t be afraid: peace be to you, be strong, yes, be strong.” When he spoke to me, I was strengthened, and said, “Let my lord speak; for you have strengthened me.” | 19 und sprach : Fürchte dich nicht, du lieber Mann ! Maintenant, je vais retourner combattre le chef de la Perse ; et, au moment où je m’en irai, voici le chef de Javan qui viendra. | 20 Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Now I will return to fight with the prince of Persia. When I go forth, behold, the prince of Greece shall come. | 20 Und er sprach : Weißt du auch, warum ich zu dir gekommen bin ? Jetzt will ich wieder hin und mit dem Fürsten in Perserland streiten ; aber wenn ich wegziehe, siehe, so wird der Fürst von Griechenland kommen. |

Voici que trois rois se lèveront encore pour la Perse ; le quatrième possédera de plus grandes richesses que tous les autres et, quand il sera puissant par ses richesses, il soulèvera tout contre le royaume de Javan. | 2 Now will I show you the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and when he has grown strong through his riches, he shall stir up all against the realm of Greece. | 2 Und nun will ich dir anzeigen, was gewiß geschehen soll. Mais elle ne conservera pas l’appui d’un bras, car il ne tiendra pas, non plus que son propre bras ; et elle sera livrée, elle et ceux qui l’avaient amenée, celui qui lui avait donné naissance et celui qui l’avait soutenue pendant quelque temps. | 6 At the end of years they shall join themselves together; and the daughter of the king of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the strength of her arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm; but she shall be given up, and those who brought her, and he who became the father of her, and he who strengthened her in those times. | 6 Nach etlichen Jahren aber werden sie sich miteinander befreunden ; die Tochter des Königs gegen Mittag wird kommen zum König gegen Mitternacht, Einigkeit zu machen. | 17 Il se décidera à venir avec la force de tout son royaume et il fera un arrangement avec lui ; et il lui donnera une jeune fille pour amener sa ruine ; mais cela ne réussira pas, et ce royaume ne sera point à lui. | 17 He shall set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom, and with him equitable conditions; and he shall perform them: and he shall give him the daughter of women, to corrupt her; but she shall not stand, neither be for him. | 17 Und wird sein Angesicht richten, daß er mit der Macht seines ganzen Königreichs komme. Aber er wird sich mit ihm vertragen und wird ihm seine Tochter zum Weibe geben, daß er ihn verderbe ; aber es wird ihm nicht geraten und wird nichts daraus werden. |

| 19 Il se tournera vers les forteresses de son pays ; mais il trébuchera, il tombera, et on ne le trouvera plus. | 19 Then he shall turn his face toward the fortresses of his own land; but he shall stumble and fall, and shall not be found. | 19 Also wird er sich wiederum kehren zu den Festen seines Landes und wird sich stoßen und fallen, daß ihn niemand finden wird. |
| 20 Un autre se tiendra à sa place, qui fera passer un exacteur dans le lieu qui est la gloire du royaume, et en quelques jours il sera brisé, et ce ne sera ni par la colère ni par la guerre. | 20 Then shall stand up in his place one who shall cause a tax collector to pass through the kingdom to maintain its glory; but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle. | 20 Und an seiner Statt wird einer aufkommen, der wird einen Schergen sein herrliches Reich durchziehen lassen ; aber nach wenigen Tagen wird er zerbrochen werden, doch weder durch Zorn noch durch Streit. |
| 21 A sa place se tiendra un homme méprisé, à qui on n’aura pas donné la dignité royale ; il viendra sans bruit et s’emparera de la royauté par des intrigues. | 21 In his place shall stand up a contemptible person, to whom they had not given the honor of the kingdom: but he shall come in time of security, and shall obtain the kingdom by flatteries. | 21 An des Statt wird aufkommen ein Ungeachteter, welchem die Ehre des Königreichs nicht zugedacht war ; der wird mitten im Frieden kommen und das Königreich mit süßen Worten einnehmen. |
| 22 Les forces de l’inondation seront submergées devant lui et seront brisées, et aussi le chef de l’alliance. | 22 The overwhelming forces shall be overwhelmed from before him, and shall be broken; yes, also the prince of the covenant. | 22 Und die Heere, die wie eine Flut daherfahren, werden von ihm wie mit einer Flut überfallen und zerbrochen werden, dazu auch der Fürst, mit dem der Bund gemacht war. |
| 23 Sans tenir compte de l’alliance conclue avec lui, il agira de ruse, il se mettra en marche et aura le dessus avec peu de gens. | 23 After the league made with him he shall work deceitfully; for he shall come up, and shall become strong, with a small people. | 23 Denn nachdem er mit ihm befreundet ist, wird er listig gegen ihn handeln und wird heraufziehen und mit geringem Volk ihn überwältigen, |
| 24 Il viendra sans bruit dans les plus riches provinces du pays ; il fera ce que n’avaient pas fait ses pères, ni les pères de ses pères, il leur distribuera butin, dépouilles et richesses, et il formera des projets contre les forteresses, et cela jusqu’à un certain temps. | 24 In time of security shall he come even on the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers; he shall scatter among them prey, and spoil, and substance: yes, he shall devise his devices against the strongholds, even for a time. | 24 und es wird ihm gelingen, daß er in die besten Städte des Landes kommen wird ; und wird’s also ausrichten, wie es weder seine Väter noch seine Voreltern tun konnten, mit Rauben, Plündern und Ausbeuten ; und wird nach den allerfestesten Städten trachten, und das eine Zeitlang. |
| 25 Il excitera sa force et son courage contre le roi du Midi, à la tête d’une grande armée. Et le roi du Midi s’engagera dans la guerre avec une armée nombreuse et très forte ; mais il ne tiendra pas, parce qu’on formera des complots contre lui. | 25 He shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall war in battle with an exceeding great and mighty army; but he shall not stand; for they shall devise devices against him. | 25 Und er wird seine Macht und sein Herz wider den König gegen Mittag erregen mit großer Heereskraft. | 26 Ceux qui mangent les mets de sa table le briseront, son armée se dissipera, et beaucoup d’hommes tomberont frappés de mort. | 26 Yes, they who eat of his dainties shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow; and many shall fall down slain. | 26 Und eben die sein Brot essen, die werden ihn helfen verderben und sein Heer unterdrücken, daß gar viele erschlagen werden. |
| 27 Les deux rois chercheront dans leur cœur à se nuire, et, à une même table, ils se diront des mensonges ; mais cela ne réussira pas, car la fin ne viendra qu’au temps marqué. | 27 As for both these kings, their hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table: but it shall not prosper; for yet the end shall be at the time appointed. | 27 Und beider Könige Herz wird denken, wie sie einander Schaden tun, und werden an einem Tische fälschlich miteinander reden. Es wird ihnen aber nicht gelingen ; denn das Ende ist noch auf eine andere Zeit bestimmt. |

| 31 Des troupes envoyées par lui se tiendront là ; elles profaneront le sanctuaire, la forteresse ; elles feront cesser le sacrifice perpétuel et dresseront l’abomination du dévastateur. | 31 Forces shall stand on his part, and they shall profane the sanctuary, even the fortress, and shall take away the continual burnt offering, and they shall set up the abomination that makes desolate. | 31 Und es werden seine Heere daselbst stehen ; die werden das Heiligtum in der Feste entweihen und das tägliche Opfer abtun und einen Greuel der Verwüstung aufrichten. |
| 32 Par des flatteries, il gagnera à l’idolâtrie les violateurs de l’alliance ; mais le peuple de ceux qui connaissent leur Dieu tiendra ferme et agira. | 32 Such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he pervert by flatteries; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. | 32 Und er wird heucheln und gute Worte geben den Gottlosen, so den Bund übertreten. Aber die vom Volk, so ihren Gott kennen, werden sich ermannen und es ausrichten. |
| 33 Ceux qui sont intelligents parmi le peuple instruiront la multitude ; mais ils tomberont par l’épée et la flamme, par la captivité et le pillage, un certain temps. | 33 Those who are wise among the people shall instruct many; yet they shall fall by the sword and by flame, by captivity and by spoil, many days. | 33 Und die Verständigen im Volk werden viele andere lehren ; darüber werden sie fallen durch Schwert, Feuer, Gefängnis und Raub eine Zeitlang. |
| 34 Pendant qu’ils tomberont ainsi, ils seront secourus d’un léger secours, et plusieurs se joindront à eux, mais avec hypocrisie. | 34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be helped with a little help; but many shall join themselves to them with flatteries. | 34 Und wenn sie so fallen, wird ihnen eine kleine Hilfe geschehen ; aber viele werden sich zu ihnen tun betrüglich. |
| 35 Et parmi ces intelligents, il y en a qui tomberont, afin qu’ils soient éprouvés, purifiés et blanchis, jusqu’au temps de la fin, car on ne sera pas encore au terme fixé. | 35 Some of those who are wise shall fall, to refine them, and to purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end; because it is yet for the time appointed. | 35 Und der Verständigen werden etliche fallen, auf daß sie bewährt, rein und lauter werden, bis daß es ein Ende habe ; denn es ist noch eine andere Zeit vorhanden. |
| 36 Le roi fera ce qui lui plaira, il s’élèvera et se grandira au-dessus de tout dieu, et contre le Dieu des dieux il dira des choses prodigieuses ; et il prospérera, jusqu’à ce que la colère soit consommée ; car ce qui est décrété doit s’accomplir. | 36 The king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods; and he shall prosper until the indignation be accomplished; for that which is determined shall be done. | 36 Und der König wird tun, was er will, und wird sich erheben und aufwerfen wider alles, was Gott ist ; und wider den Gott aller Götter wird er greulich reden ; und es wird ihm gelingen, bis der Zorn aus sei ; denn es muß geschehen, was beschlossen ist. |

| 39 Il attaquera les remparts des forteresses avec le dieu étranger ; ceux qui le reconnaîtront, il les comblera d’honneurs, il les fera dominer sur la multitude et leur distribuera des terres en récompense. | 39 He shall deal with the strongest fortresses by the help of a foreign god: whoever acknowledges him he will increase with glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for a price. | 39 und wird denen, so ihm helfen die Festungen stärken mit dem fremden Gott, den er erwählt hat, große Ehre tun und sie zu Herren machen über große Güter und ihnen das Land zum Lohn austeilen. |

| 1 En ce temps-là se lèvera Michel, le grand chef, qui tient pour les enfants de ton peuple, et ce sera un temps de détresse telle qu’il n’y en a point eu de pareille, depuis qu’il existe une nation jusqu’à ce temps-là. Et en ce temps-là, ton peuple sera sauvé, quiconque sera trouvé inscrit dans le livre. | 1 “At that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who stands for the children of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who shall be found written in the book. | 1 Zur selben Zeit wird der große Fürst Michael, der für die Kinder deines Volkes steht, sich aufmachen.
