| 1 Paroles de Néhémie, fils de Helchias. Au mois de Casleu, la vingtième année, comme j’étais à Suse, dans le château, | 1 The words of Nehemiah the son of Hacaliah. | 2 arriva Hanani, l’un de mes frères, avec des hommes de Juda. Je les questionnai au sujet des Juifs délivrés, qui avaient échappé à la captivité, et au sujet de Jérusalem. | 2 that Hanani, one of my brothers, came, he and certain men out of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped, who were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem. | 2 da kam Hanani, einer meiner Brüder, mit etlichen Männern aus Juda. | 3 Ils me répondirent : " Les réchappés, ceux qui ont échappé à la captivité, là-bas dans la province, sont dans une grande misère et dans l’opprobre ; les murailles de Jérusalem sont démolies et ses portes consumées par le feu. " | 3 They said to me, “The remnant who are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach. Je jeûnais et je priais devant le Dieu du ciel, | 4 It happened, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days; and I fasted and prayed before the God of heaven, | 4 Da ich aber solche Worte hörte, saß ich und weinte und trug Leid etliche Tage und fastete und betete vor dem Gott des Himmels |

Yahweh, Dieu du ciel, Dieu grand et redoutable, vous qui gardez l’alliance et la miséricorde à l’égard de ceux qui vous aiment et qui observent vos commandements, | 5 and said, “I beg you, Yahweh, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness with those who love him and keep his commandments: | 5 und sprach : Ach Herr, Gott des Himmels, großer und schrecklicher Gott, der da hält den Bund und die Barmherzigkeit denen, die ihn lieben und seine Gebote halten, |
| 6 que votre oreille soit attentive et que vos yeux soient ouverts, pour que vous entendiez la prière de votre serviteur, celle que je vous adresse maintenant, nuit et jour, pour vos serviteurs, les enfants d’Israël, en confessant les péchés des enfants d’Israël, ceux que nous avons commis contre vous ; car moi et la maison de mon père, nous avons péché. | 6 Let your ear now be attentive, and your eyes open, that you may listen to the prayer of your servant, which I pray before you at this time, day and night, for the children of Israel your servants while I confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against you. Yes, I and my father’s house have sinned. | 6 laß doch deine Ohren aufmerken und deine Augen offen sein, daß du hörst das Gebet deines Knechtes, das ich nun vor dir bete Tag und Nacht für die Kinder Israel, deine Knechte, und bekenne die Sünden der Kinder Israel, die wir an dir getan haben ; und ich und meines Vaters Haus haben auch gesündigt. |
| 7 Nous avons très mal agi envers vous, nous n’avons pas observé les commandements, les lois et les ordonnances que vous avez prescrits à Moïse, votre serviteur. | 7 We have dealt very corruptly against you, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the ordinances, which you commanded your servant Moses. | 7 Wir haben an dir mißgehandelt, daß wir nicht gehalten haben die Gebote, Befehle und Rechte, die du geboten hast deinem Knecht Mose. |
| 8 Souvenez-vous de la parole que vous avez ordonné à Moïse, votre serviteur, de prononcer, en disant : Si vous transgressez mes préceptes, je vous disperserai parmi les peuples ; | 8“Remember, I beg you, the word that you commanded your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you trespass, I will scatter you abroad among the peoples; | 8 Gedenke aber doch des Wortes, das du deinem Knecht Mose : Wenn ihr euch versündigt, so will ich euch gebotest und sprachst unter die Völker streuen. |
| 9 mais si vous revenez à moi, et si vous observez mes commandements et les mettez en pratique, alors même que vos exilés seraient à l’extrémité du ciel, de là je les rassemblerai et je les ramènerai dans le lieu que j’ai choisi pour y faire habiter mon nom. | 9 but if you return to me, and keep my commandments and do them, though your outcasts were in the uttermost part of the heavens, yet will I gather them from there, and will bring them to the place that I have chosen, to cause my name to dwell there.’ | 9 Wo ihr euch aber bekehrt zu mir und haltet meine Gebote und tut sie, und ob ihr verstoßen wäret bis an der Himmel Ende, so will ich euch doch von da versammeln und will euch bringen an den Ort, den ich erwählt habe, daß mein Name daselbst wohne. |
| 10 Ils sont vos serviteurs et votre peuple, que vous avez rachetés par votre grande puissance et par votre main forte. | 10“Now these are your servants and your people, whom you have redeemed by your great power, and by your strong hand. | 10 Sie sind ja doch deine Knechte und dein Volk, die du erlöst hast durch deine große Kraft und mächtige Hand. |
| 11 Ah ! Seigneur, que votre oreille soit attentive à la prière de votre serviteur et à la prière de vos serviteurs qui se plaisent à craindre votre nom ! Daignez aujourd’hui donner le succès à votre serviteur, et faites-lui trouver grâce devant cet homme ! " J’étais alors échanson du roi. | 11 Lord, I beg you, let your ear be attentive now to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants, who delight to fear your name; and please prosper your servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.” Now I was cup bearer to the king. | 11 Ach Herr, laß deine Ohren aufmerken auf das Gebet deines Knechtes und auf das Gebet deiner Knechte, die da begehren deinen Namen zu fürchten ; und laß es deinem Knecht heute gelingen und gib ihm Barmherzigkeit vor diesem Manne ! | 1 Au mois de Nisan, la vingtième année du roi Artaxerxés, comme le vin était devant lui, je pris le vin et je l’offris au roi, et je tâchai de n’être pas triste en sa présence. | 1 It happened in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, when wine was before him, that I took up the wine, and gave it to the king. Now I had not been before sad in his presence. | 1 Im Monat Nisan des zwanzigsten Jahre des Königs Arthahsastha, da Wein vor ihm stand, hob ich den Wein auf und gab dem König ; und ich sah traurig vor ihm. |
| 2 Le roi me dit : " Pourquoi ton visage est-il triste, puisque tu n’es pas malade ? Ce ne peut être qu’une tristesse de cœur. " Je fus très effrayé | 2 The king said to me, “Why is your face sad, seeing you are not sick? Comment mon visage ne serait-il pas triste, lorsque la ville où sont les sépulcres de mes pères est dévastée et que ses portes sont consumées par le feu ? " | 3 I said to the king, “Let the king live forever! Why shouldn’t my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ tombs, lies waste, and its gates have been consumed with fire?” | 3 und sprach zu dem König : Der König lebe ewiglich ! Sollte ich nicht übel sehen ? Die Stadt da das Begräbnis meiner Väter ist, liegt wüst, und ihre Tore sind mit Feuer verzehrt. |
| 4 Et le roi me dit : " Que veux-tu demander ? " Je priai le Dieu du ciel, | 4 Then the king said to me, “For what do you make request?” So I prayed to the God of heaven. | 4 Da sprach der König : Was forderst du denn ? da betete ich zu dem Gott des Himmels |
| 5 et je répondis au roi : " Si le roi le trouve bon, et si ton serviteur t’est agréable, je demande que tu m’envoies en Juda, vers la ville des sépulcres de mes pères, pour que je la rebâtisse. " | 5 I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you would send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ tombs, that I may build it.” | 5 und sprach zum König : Gefällt es dem König und ist dein Knecht angenehm vor dir, so wollest du mich senden nach Juda zu der Stadt des Begräbnisses meiner Väter, daß ich sie baue. |
| 6 Et le roi me dit, la reine étant assise prés de lui : " Jusqu’à quand durera ton voyage, et quand reviendras-tu ? " Il plut au roi de m’envoyer et je lui fixai un temps. | 6 The king said to me (the queen was also sitting by him), “For how long shall your journey be? And when will you return?” So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time. | 6 Und der König sprach zu mir und die Königin, die neben ihm saß : Wie lange wird deine Reise währen, und wann wirst du wiederkommen ? Und es gefiel dem König, daß er mich hinsendete. Und ich setzte ihm eine bestimmte Zeit |
| 7 Puis je dis au roi : " Si le roi le trouve bon, qu’on me donne des lettres pour les gouverneurs d’au delà du fleuve, afin qu’ils me laissent passer jusqu’à ce que j’arrive en Juda, | 7 Moreover I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the River, that they may let me pass through until I come to Judah; | 7 und sprach zum König : Gefällt es dem König, so gebe man mir Briefe an die Landpfleger jenseit des Wassers, daß sie mich hinübergeleiten, bis ich komme nach Juda, |
| 8 et une lettre pour Asaph, garde de la forêt qui appartient au roi, afin qu’il me fournisse du bois pour mettre des poutres aux portes de la forteresse qui est proche du temple, pour la muraille de la ville et pour la maison où je me retirerai. " Et le roi me donna ces lettres, car la main favorable de mon Dieu était sur moi. | 8 and a letter to Asaph the keeper of the king’s forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple, for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into.” The king granted my requests, because of the good hand of my God on me. | 8 und Briefe an Asaph den Holzfürsten des Königs, daß er mir Holz gebe zu Balken der Pforten an der Burg beim Tempel und zu der Stadtmauer und zum Hause, da ich einziehen soll. Und der König gab mir nach der guten Hand meines Gottes über mir. |
| 9 Je me rendis donc auprès des gouverneurs d’au delà du fleuve, et je leur remis les lettres du roi ; or le roi avait envoyé avec moi des chefs militaires et des cavaliers. | 9 Then I came to the governors beyond the River, and gave them the king’s letters. Now the king had sent with me captains of the army and horsemen. | 9 Und da ich kam zu den Landpflegern jenseit des Wassers, gab ich ihnen des Königs Briefe. Und der König sandte mit mir Hauptleute und Reiter. |
| 10 Quand Sanaballat, le Horonite, et Tobie, le serviteur ammonite, furent au courant, il leur parut très mauvais qu’un homme vint pour procurer le bien des enfants d’Israël. | 10 When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly, because a man had come to seek the welfare of the children of Israel. | 10 Da aber das hörten Saneballat, der Horoniter, und Tobia, der ammonitische Knecht, verdroß es sie sehr, daß ein Mensch gekommen wäre, der Gutes suchte für die Kinder Israel. |
| 11 J’arrivai à Jérusalem et, après y avoir passé trois jours, | 11 So I came to Jerusalem, and was there three days. | 11 Und da ich gen Jerusalem kam und drei Tage da gewesen war, |
| 12 je me levai pendant la nuit, avec un petit nombre d’hommes. Je ne communiquai à personne ce que mon Dieu m’avait mis au cœur de faire pour Jérusalem. Je n’avais avec moi d’autre bête de somme que ma propre monture. | 12 I arose in the night, I and some few men with me; neither told I any man what my God put into my heart to do for Jerusalem; neither was there any animal with me, except the animal that I rode on. | 12 machte ich mich des Nachts auf und wenig Männer mit mir (denn ich sagte keinem Menschen, was mir mein Gott eingegeben hatte zu tun an Jerusalem), und war kein Tier mit mir, ohne das, darauf ich ritt. |
| 13 Je sortis de nuit par la porte de la Vallée, me dirigeant vers la source du Dragon et la porte du Fumier ; et je considérai les murailles démolies de Jérusalem et ses portes consumées par le feu. | 13 I went out by night by the valley gate, even toward the jackal’s well, and to the dung gate, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and its gates were consumed with fire. | 13 Und ich ritt zum Taltor aus bei der Nacht und gegen den Drachenbrunnen und an das Misttor ; und es tat mir wehe, daß die Mauern Jerusalems eingerissen waren und die Tore mit Feuer verzehrt. |
| 14 Je continuai vers la porte de la Source et l’étang du Roi, et il n’y avait pas de place pour que la monture pût passer sous moi. | 14 Then I went on to the spring gate and to the king’s pool: but there was no place for the animal that was under me to pass. | 14 Und ging hinüber zu dem Brunnentor und zu des Königs Teich ; und war da nicht Raum meinem Tier, daß es unter mir hätte gehen können. |
| 15 Je montai de nuit dans le ravin, et je considérai la muraille ; puis je revins par la porte de la Vallée, et je rentrai. | 15 Then went I up in the night by the brook, and viewed the wall; and I turned back, and entered by the valley gate, and so returned. | 15 Da zog ich bei Nacht den Bach hinan ; und es tat mir wehe, die Mauern also zu sehen. Und kehrte um und kam zum Taltor wieder heim. |
| 16 Les magistrats ignoraient où j’étais allé et ce que je voulais faire. Jusqu’à ce moment je n’avais fait part de rien aux Juifs, ni aux prêtres, ni aux grands, ni aux magistrats, ni au reste du peuple qui devait s’occuper des travaux. | 16 The rulers didn’t know where I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest who did the work. | 16 Und die Obersten wußten nicht, wo ich hinging oder was ich machte ; denn ich hatte bis daher den Juden und den Priestern, den Ratsherren und den Obersten und den andern, die am Werk arbeiteten, nichts gesagt. |
| 17 Je leur dis alors : " Vous voyez la misère dans laquelle nous sommes, Jérusalem est dévastée, et ses portes sont consumées par le feu. Venez, rebâtissons la muraille de Jérusalem, et nous ne serons plus un sujet d’opprobre. " | 17 Then I said to them, “You see the evil case that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come, let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we won’t be disgraced.” | 17 Und ich sprach zu ihnen : Ihr seht das Unglück, darin wir sind, daß Jerusalem wüst liegt und seine Tore sind mit Feuer verbrannt. Kommt, laßt uns die Mauern Jerusalems bauen, daß wir nicht mehr eine Schmach seien ! |
| 18 Et je leur racontai comment la main favorable de mon Dieu avait été sur moi, et aussi quelles paroles le roi m’avaient adressées. Ils répondirent : " Levons-nous, et bâtissons ! " Et ils mirent avec courage la main à cette bonne œuvre. | 18 I told them of the hand of my God which was good on me, as also of the king’s words that he had spoken to me. They said, “Let’s rise up and build.” So they strengthened their hands for the good work. | 18 Und sagte ihnen an die Hand meines Gottes, die gut über mir war, dazu die Worte des Königs, die er zu mir geredet hatte. Und sie sprachen : So laßt uns auf sein und bauen ! Und ihre Hände wurden gestärkt zum Guten. |
| 19 Quand Sanaballat, le Horonite, Tobie, le serviteur ammonite, et Gosem, l’Arabe, l’eurent appris, ils se moquèrent de nous et nous méprisèrent. Ils disaient : " Que faites-vous là ? Vous révoltez-vous contre le roi ? " | 19 But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they ridiculed us, and despised us, and said, “What is this thing that you are doing? Will you rebel against the king?” | 19 Da aber das Saneballat, der Horoniter und Tobia, der ammonitische Knecht, und Gesem, der Araber, hörten, spotteten sie unser und verachteten uns und sprachen : Was ist das, das ihr tut ? Wollt ihr von dem König abfallen ? |
| 20 Je leur fis réponse et leur dis : " Le Dieu du ciel nous donnera le succès. Nous, ses serviteurs, nous allons nous mettre à rebâtir ; quant à vous, vous n’avez ni part, ni droit, ni souvenir dans Jérusalem. " | 20 Then answered I them, and said to them, “The God of heaven will prosper us. Therefore we, his servants, will arise and build; but you have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.” | 20 Da antwortete ich ihnen und sprach : Der Gott des Himmels wird es uns gelingen lassen ; denn wir, seine Knechte, haben uns aufgemacht und bauen. Ihr aber habt kein Teil noch Recht noch Gedächtnis in Jerusalem. |

| 1 Eliasib, le grand prêtre, et ses frères les prêtres se mirent à bâtir la porte des Brebis ; ils la consacrèrent et en posèrent les battants ; ils réparèrent la muraille et la consacrèrent jusqu’à la tour de Méa et jusqu’à la tour de Hananéel. | 1 Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brothers the priests, and they built the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up its doors; even to the tower of Hammeah they sanctified it, to the tower of Hananel. | 1 Und Eljasib, der Hohepriester, machte sich auf mit seinen Brüdern, den Priestern und bauten das Schaftor. Sie heiligten es und setzten seine Türen ein. Sie heiligten es aber bis an den Turm Mea, bis an den Turm Hananeel. |
| 2 A côté bâtissaient les hommes de Jéricho ; et à côté bâtissait Zachur, fils d’Amri. | 2 Next to him built the men of Jericho. Next to them built Zaccur the son of Imri. | 2 Neben ihm bauten die Männer von Jericho. Und daneben baute Sakkur, der Sohn Imris. |
| 3 Les fils d’Asnaa bâtirent la porte des Poissons ; ils y mirent des poutres et en posèrent les battants, les verrous et les barres ; | 3 The fish gate did the sons of Hassenaah build; they laid its beams, and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars. | 3 Aber das Fischtor bauten die Kinder von Senaa, sie deckten es und setzten seine Türen ein, Schlösser und Riegel. |
| 4 et à côté, réparait Marimuth, fils d’Urie, fils d’Accus ; et à côté réparait Mosollam, fils de Barachie, fils de Mésézébel ; et à côté réparait Sadoc, fils de Baana ; | 4 Next to them repaired Meremoth the son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz. Next to them repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabel. Next to them repaired Zadok the son of Baana. | 4 Neben ihnen baute Meremoth, der Sohn Urias, des Sohnes Hakkoz. Neben ihnen baute Mesullam, der Sohn Berechjas, des Sohnes Mesesabeels. Neben ihnen baute Zadok, der Sohn Baanas. |
| 5 et à côté réparaient les Thécuites : mais leurs chefs n’apportèrent pas leur concours à la besogne de leur Seigneur. | 5 Next to them the Tekoites repaired; but their nobles didn’t put their necks to the work of their lord. | 5 Neben ihnen bauten die von Thekoa ; aber ihre Vornehmeren brachten ihren Hals nicht zum Dienst ihrer Herren. |
| 6 Joïada, fils de Phaséa, et Mosollam, fils de Besodias, réparèrent la Vieille Porte ; ils y mirent des poutres et en posèrent les battants, les verrous et les barres. | 6 The old gate repaired Joiada the son of Paseah and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah; they laid its beams, and set up its doors, and its bolts, and its bars. | 6 Das alte Tor baute Jojada, der Sohn Paseahs, und Mesullam, der Sohn Besodjas ; sie deckten es und setzten ein seine Türen und Schlösser und Riegel. |
| 7 Et à côté réparaient Meltias le Gabaonite, Jadon le Méronathite, et les hommes de Gabaon et de Maspha, près du tribunal du gouverneur d’au delà du fleuve ; | 7 Next to them repaired Melatiah the Gibeonite, and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon, and of Mizpah, that appertained to the throne of the governor beyond the River. | 7 Neben ihnen bauten Melatja von Gibeon und Jadon von Meronoth, die Männer von Gibeon und von Mizpa, am Stuhl des Landpflegers diesseit des Wassers. |
| 8 et à côté réparait Eziel, fils d’Araïas, chef des orfèvres ; et à côté réparait Ananie, de la corporation des parfumeurs. Ils laissèrent Jérusalem jusqu’à la muraille large. | 8 Next to him repaired Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, goldsmiths. Next to him repaired Hananiah one of the perfumers, and they fortified Jerusalem even to the broad wall. | 8 Daneben baute Usiel, der Sohn des Harhajas, der Goldschmied. Neben ihm baute Hananja, der Sohn der Salbenbereiter ; und sie bauten aus zu Jerusalem bis an die breite Mauer. |

| 11 Melchias, fils de Herem, et Hasub, fils de Phahath-Moab, réparèrent une autre partie de la muraille et la tour des Fourneaux. | 11 Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hasshub the son of Pahathmoab, repaired another portion, and the tower of the furnaces. | 11 Aber Malchia, der Sohn Harims, und Hassub, der Sohn Pahath- Moabs, bauten ein andres Stück und den Ofenturm. |

Ne devriez-vous pas marcher dans la crainte de notre Dieu, pour éviter l’insulte des nations, nos ennemies ? | 9 Also I said, “The thing that you do is not good. Ought you not to walk in the fear of our God, because of the reproach of the nations our enemies? | 9 Und ich sprach : Es ist nicht gut, was ihr tut. | 10 Moi aussi, mes frères et mes serviteurs, nous leur avons prêté de l’argent et du blé. Faisons l’abandon de cette dette. | 10 I likewise, my brothers and my servants, lend them money and grain. | 11 Rendez-leur donc aujourd’hui leurs champs, leurs vignes, leurs oliviers et leurs maisons, et le centième de l’argent, du vin nouveau et de l’huile que vous avez exigé d’eux comme intérêt. | 13 Et je secouai mon manteau, en disant : " Que Dieu secoue ainsi hors de sa maison et de ses biens tout homme qui n’aura pas tenu cette parole, et qu’ainsi cet homme soit secoué et laissé à vide ! " Toute l’assemblée dit : " Amen ! " et loua Yahweh ; et le peuple agit selon cette parole. | 13 Also I shook out my lap, and said, “So may God shake out every man from his house, and from his labor, that doesn’t perform this promise; even thus be he shaken out, and emptied.” All the assembly said, “Amen,” and praised Yahweh. Malgré cela, je n’ai pas réclamé le pain du gouverneur, parce que les travaux pesaient lourdement sur ce peuple. | 18 Now that which was prepared for one day was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this I didn’t demand the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy on this people. | 18 Und man gebrauchte für mich des Tages einen Ochsen und sechs erwählte Schafe und Vögel und je innerhalb zehn Tagen allerlei Wein die Menge. Why should the work cease, while I leave it, and come down to you?” | 3 Ich aber sandte Boten zu ihnen und ließ ihnen sagen : Ich habe ein großes Geschäft auszurichten, ich kann nicht hinabkommen ; es möchte das Werk nachbleiben, wo ich die Hände abtäte und zu euch hinabzöge. |

| 6 Il y était écrit : " Le bruit se répand parmi les nations et Gosem affirme que toi et les Juifs, vous avez dessein de vous révolter, et que c’est pour cela que tu rebâtis la muraille ; et, d’après ces rapports, tu veux devenir leur roi. | 6 in which was written, “It is reported among the nations, and Gashmu says it, that you and the Jews intend to rebel. Because of that, you are building the wall. You would be their king, according to these words. | 6 Darin war geschrieben : Es ist vor die Heiden gekommen, und Gesem hat’s gesagt, daß du und die Juden gedenkt abzufallen, darum du die Mauer baust, und wollest also König werden ; |
| 7 Et même tu as établis des prophètes pour faire à ton propos cette proclamation dans Jérusalem : Il y a un roi en Juda. Maintenant, on va informer le roi de cette affaire. Viens donc, et consultons-nous ensemble. " | 7 You have also appointed prophets to preach of you at Jerusalem, saying, ‘There is a king in Judah!’ Now it will be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.” | 7 und du habest die Propheten bestellt, die von dir ausrufen sollen zu Jerusalem und sagen : Er ist der König Juda’s. Nun, solches wird vor den König kommen. So komm nun und laß uns miteinander ratschlagen ! |

" Maintenant, ô mon Dieu, donne force à mes mains ! | 9 For they all would have made us afraid, saying, “Their hands will be weakened from the work, that it not be done. But now, God, strengthen my hands.” | 9 Denn sie alle wollen uns furchtsam machen und gedachten : Sie sollen die Hand abtun vom Geschäft, daß es nicht fertig werde, aber nun stärke meine Hände ! |
| 10 Je me rendis chez Sémaïas, fils de Dalaïas, fils de Métabéel. Il s’était enfermé, et il dit : " Allons ensemble dans la maison de Dieu, dans l’intérieur du temple et fermons les portes du temple ; car on vient pour te tuer ; c’est pendant la nuit qu’on viendra pour te tuer. " | 10 I went to the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabel, who was shut in at his home; and he said, “Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple; for they will come to kill you; yes, in the night will they come to kill you.” | 10 Und ich kam in das Haus Semajas, des Sohnes Delajas, des Sohnes Mehetabeels ; und er hatte sich verschlossen und sprach : Laß uns zusammenkommen im Hause Gottes mitten im Tempel und die Türen zuschließen ; denn sie werden kommen, dich zu erwürgen, und werden bei der Nacht kommen, daß sie dich erwürgen. |
| 11 Je répondis : " Un homme comme moi prendre la fuite... ! Et comment un homme comme moi pénétrerait-il dans le temple et demeurerait-il en vie ? Je n’entrerai point. " | 11 I said, “Should such a man as I flee? Who is there that, being such as I, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.” | 11 Ich aber sprach : Sollte ein solcher Mann fliehen ? | 12 Et je fis attention, et voici que ce n’était pas Dieu qui l’envoyait ; il avait prononcé sur moi une prophétie parce que Tobie et Sanaballat l’avaient acheté. | 12 I discerned, and behold, God had not sent him; but he pronounced this prophecy against me. Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him. | 12 Denn ich merkte, daß ihn Gott nicht gesandt hatte. Denn er sagte wohl Weissagung auf mich ; aber Tobia und Saneballat hatten ihm Geld gegeben. |
| 13 On l’avait acheté pour que j’aie peur, que j’agisse selon ses avis et que je pèche ; et cela leur eut été un prétexte pour me faire un mauvais renom et me couvrir d’opprobre. | 13 He hired so that I would be afraid, do so, and sin, and that they might have material for an evil report, that they might reproach me. | 13 Darum nahm er Geld, auf daß ich mich fürchten sollte und also tun und sündigen, daß sie ein böses Gerücht hätten, damit sie mich lästern möchten. |
| 14 Souvenez-vous, ô mon Dieu, de Tobie et de Sanaballat selon ces méfaits ! Et aussi de Noadias le prophète, et des autres prophètes qui cherchaient à m’effrayer. | 14“Remember, my God, Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and also the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.” | 14 Gedenke, mein Gott, des Tobia und Saneballat nach diesen Werken, auch der Prophetin Noadja und der anderen Propheten, die mich wollten abschrecken ! |

| 16 Lorsque tous nos ennemis l’apprirent, toutes les nations qui étaient autour de nous furent dans la crainte ; elles éprouvèrent un grand découragement et reconnurent que c’était par le secours de notre Dieu que cette œuvre s’était accomplie. | 16 It happened, when all our enemies heard of it, that all the nations that were about us feared, and were much cast down in their own eyes; for they perceived that this work was worked of our God. | 16 Und da alle unsre Feinde das hörten, fürchteten sich alle Heiden, die um uns her waren, und der Mut entfiel ihnen ; denn sie merkten, daß dies Werk von Gott war. |
| 17 Dans ce temps-là aussi, des grands de Juda multipliaient leurs lettres à l’adresse de Tobie, et celles de Tobie leur parvenaient. | 17 Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters to Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came to them. | 17 Auch waren zu derselben Zeit viele der Obersten Juda’s, deren Briefe gingen zu Tobia und von Tobia zu ihnen. |

| 9 Et Néhémie, le gouverneur, Esdras, le prêtre et le scribe, et les lévites qui instruisaient le peuple, dirent à tout le peuple : " Ce jour est saint pour Yahweh, votre Dieu ; ne soyez pas dans le deuil et dans les larmes. " Car tout le peuple pleurait en entendant les paroles de la loi. | 9 Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites who taught the people, said to all the people, “This day is holy to Yahweh your God. | 15 et qu’ils devaient faire entendre et publier une proclamation dans toutes leurs villes et à Jérusalem, en disant : " Allez à la montagne et rapportez des rameaux d’olivier, des rameaux d’olivier sauvage, des rameaux de myrte, des rameaux de palmier et des rameaux d’arbres touffus pour faire des tentes, selon qu’il est écrit. Mais vous êtes un Dieu prêt au pardon, clément et miséricordieux, lent à la colère et riche en bonté, et vous ne les avez pas abandonnés. | 17 and refused to obey, neither were they mindful of your wonders that you did among them, but hardened their neck, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage. | 29 Vous rendîtes témoignage contre eux, pour les ramener à votre loi, et eux, persévérant dans l’orgueil, n’écoutèrent point vos commandements ; ils transgressèrent vos ordonnances, bien que celui qui les met en pratique trouve en elles la vie ; ils présentèrent une épaule rebelle, ils raidirent leur cou et ils n’écoutèrent point. | 29 and testified against them, that you might bring them again to your law. Yet they dealt proudly, and didn’t listen to your commandments, but sinned against your ordinances, (which if a man does, he shall live in them), turned their backs, stiffened their neck, and would not hear. | 29 Und du ließest ihnen bezeugen, daß sie sich bekehren sollten zu deinem Gesetz. Alors vous les livrâtes entre les mains des peuples des pays. | 30 Yet many years you put up with them, and testified against them by your Spirit through your prophets. Yet would they not give ear. | 35 Dans leur royaume, au milieu des nombreux bienfaits que vous leur accordiez, dans le pays vaste et fertile que vous leur aviez livré, ils ne vous ont pas servi, et ils ne se sont pas détournés de leurs œuvres mauvaises. | 35 For they have not served you in their kingdom, and in your great goodness that you gave them, and in the large and rich land which you gave before them, neither did they turn from their wicked works. | 35 Und sie haben dir nicht gedient in ihrem Königreich und in deinen großen Gütern, die du ihnen gabst, und in dem weiten und fetten Lande, das du ihnen dargegeben hast, und haben sich nicht bekehrt von ihrem bösen Wesen. |

| 5 avait disposé pour ce dernier une grande chambre où l’on mettait auparavant les offrandes, l’encens, les ustensiles, la dîme du blé, du vin nouveau et de l’huile, la taxe des lévites, des chantres et des portiers, et ce qui était prélevé pour les prêtres. | 5 had prepared for him a great chamber, where before they laid the meal offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which were given by commandment to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the wave offerings for the priests. | 5 und dahin hatten sie zuvor gelegt Speisopfer, Weihrauch, Geräte und die Zehnten vom Getreide, Most und Öl, die Gebühr der Leviten, Sänger und Torhüter, dazu die Hebe der Priester. |

| 8 J’en éprouvai une grande douleur, et je jetai hors de la chambre tous les meubles de la demeure de Tobie. | 8 It grieved me sore: therefore I cast forth all the household stuff of Tobiah out of the chamber. | 8 und es verdroß mich sehr, und ich warf alle Geräte vom Hause hinaus vor die Kammer |
| 9 Puis j’ordonnai qu’on purifiât les chambres, et j’y replaçai les ustensiles de la maison de Dieu, les offrandes et l’encens. | 9 Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: and there brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the meal offerings and the frankincense. | 9 und hieß, daß sie die Kammern reinigten ; und ich brachte wieder dahin das Gerät des Hauses Gottes, das Speisopfer und den Weihrauch. |
| 10 J’appris aussi que les portions des lévites n’avaient pas été livrées, et que les lévites et les chantres chargés du service s’étaient enfuis chacun dans ses terres. | 10 I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them; so that the Levites and the singers, who did the work, had fled everyone to his field. | 10 Und ich erfuhr, daß der Leviten Teile ihnen nicht gegeben waren, derhalben die Leviten und die Sänger, die das Geschäft des Amts ausrichten sollten, geflohen waren, ein jeglicher zu seinen Acker. |
| 11 J’adressai des réprimandes aux magistrats, et je dis : " Pourquoi la maison de Dieu est-elle abandonnée ? " Et je rassemblai les lévites et les chantres, et je les remis à leur poste. | 11 Then I contended with the rulers, and said, “Why is the house of God forsaken?” I gathered them together, and set them in their place. | 11 Da schalt ich die Obersten und sprach : Warum ist das Haus Gottes verlassen ? Aber ich versammelte sie und stellte sie an ihre Stätte. |

| 13 Je confiai l’intendance des magasins à Sélémias, le prêtre, à Sadoc, le scribe, et à Phadaïas, l’un des lévites, et je leur adjoignis Hanan, fils de Zachur, fils de Mathanias, parce qu’ils étaient reconnus fidèles. | 15 En ce temps là, je vis en Juda des hommes qui foulaient au pressoir pendant le sabbat, qui rentraient des gerbes, chargeaient sur des ânes même du vin, des raisins, des figues et toutes sortes de fardeaux, et qui les amenaient à Jérusalem le jour du sabbat ; et je leur donnai un avertissement lorsqu’ils vendaient leurs denrées. | 15 In those days saw I in Judah some men treading winepresses on the Sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and loading donkeys therewith; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day in which they sold food. | 15 Zur selben Zeit sah ich in Juda Kelter treten am Sabbat und Garben hereinbringen und Esel, beladen mit Wein, Trauben, Feigen und allerlei Last, gen Jerusalem bringen am Sabbattag. | 17 J’adressai des réprimandes aux grands de Juda et je leur dis : " Quelle est cette mauvaise action que vous faites, en profanant le jour du sabbat ? | 17 Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said to them, “What evil thing is this that you do, and profane the Sabbath day? | 17 Da schalt ich die Obersten in Juda und sprach zu ihnen : Was ist das für ein böses Ding, das ihr tut, und brecht den Sabbattag ? |
| 18 N’est-ce pas ainsi qu’ont agi vos pères, et n’est-ce pas à cause de cela que notre Dieu a fait venir tous ces malheurs sur nous et sur cette ville ? Et vous, vous augmentez encore sa colère contre Israël en profanant le sabbat !... " | 18 Didn’t your fathers do thus, and didn’t our God bring all this evil on us, and on this city? Yet you bring more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.” | 18 Taten nicht eure Väter also, und unser Gott führte all dies Unglück über uns und über diese Stadt ? | 19 Ensuite, dès qu’il fit sombre aux entrées de Jérusalem, avant le sabbat, j’ordonnai de fermer les portes, et j’ordonnai qu’on ne les ouvrit qu’après le sabbat. De plus, je plaçai aux portes quelques-uns de mes gens afin qu’aucun fardeau n’entrât le jour du sabbat. | 19 It came to pass that, when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut, and commanded that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. | 20 Alors les marchands et les vendeurs de toutes sortes de denrées passèrent la nuit une fois ou deux hors de Jérusalem. | 20 So the merchants and sellers of all kinds of wares lodged outside of Jerusalem once or twice. | 20 Da blieben die Krämer und Verkäufer mit allerlei Ware über Nacht draußen vor Jerusalem, ein Mal oder zwei. |
| 21 Je les avertis, et je leur dis : " Pourquoi passez-vous la nuit devant la muraille ? Si vous le faites encore, je mettrai la main sur vous. " Depuis ce temps-là, ils ne vinrent plus pendant le sabbat. | 21 Then I testified against them, and said to them, “Why do you stay around the wall? If you do so again, I will lay hands on you.” From that time on, they didn’t come on the Sabbath. | 21 Da zeugte ich wider sie und sprach zu ihnen : Warum bleibt ihr über Nacht um die Mauer ? Werdet ihr’s noch einmal tun, so will ich Hand an euch legen. Von der Zeit an kamen sie des Sabbats nicht. |
| 22 Et j’ordonnai aux lévites de se purifier et de venir garder les portes pour sanctifier le jour du sabbat. Souvenez-vous encore de moi, ô mon Dieu, à cause de cela, et épargnez-moi selon votre grande miséricorde ! | 22 I commanded the Levites that they should purify themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the Sabbath day. Remember to me, my God, this also, and spare me according to the greatness of your loving kindness. | 22 Und ich sprach zu den Leviten, daß sie sich reinigten und kämen und hüteten die Tore, zu heiligen den Sabbattag. Mein Gott, gedenke mir des auch und schone mein nach deiner großen Barmherzigkeit. |
| 23 En ce même temps, je vis aussi des Juifs qui avaient établi chez eux des femmes azotiennes, ammonites, moabites. | 23 In those days also saw I the Jews who had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab: | 23 Ich sah auch zu der Zeit Juden, die Weiber genommen hatten von Asdod, Ammon und Moab. |
| 24 La moitié de leurs fils parlaient l’azotien sans pouvoir parler judéen ; et de même pour la langue de tel et tel autre peuple. | 24 and their children spoke half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each people. | 24 Und ihre Kinder redeten die Hälfte asdodisch und konnten nicht jüdisch reden, sondern nach der Sprache eines jeglichen Volks. |
| 25 Je leur adressai des réprimandes et je les maudis ; j’en frappai plusieurs, je leur arrachai les cheveux et je les adjurai au nom de Dieu, en disant : " Vous ne donnerez point vos filles à leurs fils et vous ne prendrez point de leurs filles pour vos fils ou pour vous. | 25 I contended with them, and cursed them, and struck certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, “You shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters for your sons, or for yourselves. | 25 Und ich schalt sie und fluchte ihnen und schlug etliche Männer und raufte sie und nahm einen Eid von ihnen bei Gott : Ihr sollt eure Töchter nicht geben ihren Söhnen noch ihre Töchter nehmen euren Söhnen oder euch selbst. |
| 26 N’est-ce pas en cela qu’a péché Salomon, roi d’Israël ? Il n’y avait pas de roi semblable à lui parmi la multitude des nations, il était aimé de son Dieu et Dieu l’avait établi roi sur tout Israël ; mais les femmes étrangères l’entraînèrent, lui aussi, dans le péché. | 26 Didn’t Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet among many nations was there no king like him, and he was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless foreign women caused even him to sin. | 26 Hat nicht Salomo, der König Israels, daran gesündigt ? Und war doch in vielen Heiden kein König ihm gleich, und er war seinem Gott lieb, und Gott setzte ihn zum König über ganz Israel ; dennoch machten ihn die ausländischen Weiber sündigen. |
| 27 Fallait-il donc apprendre à votre sujet que vous commettez ce grand crime et que vous péchez contre notre Dieu, en établissant chez vous des femmes étrangères ? " | 27 Shall we then listen to you to do all this great evil, to trespass against our God in marrying foreign women?” | 27 Und von euch muß man das hören, daß ihr solches Übel tut, euch an unserm Gott zu vergreifen und ausländische Weiber zu nehmen ? |
| 28 Un des fils de Joïada, fils d’Eliasib, le grand prêtre, était gendre de Sanaballat le Horonite ; je le chassai loin de moi. | 28 One of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me. | 28 Und einer aus den Kindern Jojadas, des Sohnes Eljasibs, des Hohenpriesters, war Saneballats, des Horoniters, Eidam ; aber ich jagte ihn von mir. |
| 29 Souvenez-vous d’eux, ô mon Dieu, à propos de cette profanation du sacerdoce et des obligations sacrées des prêtres et des lévites ! | 29 Remember them, my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites. | 29 Gedenke an sie, mein Gott, daß sie das Priestertum befleckt haben und den Bund des Priestertums und der Leviten ! |
| 30 Je les purifiai de tout ce qui était étranger, et je remis en vigueur les règlements concernent les prêtres et les lévites, chacun dans son ministère, | 30 Thus I cleansed them from all foreigners, and appointed duties for the priests and for the Levites, everyone in his work; | 30 Also reinigte ich sie von allem Ausländischen und bestellte den Dienst der Priester und Leviten, einen jeglichen zu seinem Geschäft, |
| 31 et ce qui concernait l’offrande du bois à des époques déterminées, ainsi que les prémices. Souvenez-vous-en en ma faveur, ô mon Dieu, pour mon bien ! | 31 and for the wood offering, at times appointed, and for the first fruits. Remember me, my God, for good. | 31 und für die Opfergaben an Holz zu bestimmten Zeiten und für die Erstlinge. Gedenke meiner, mein Gott, im Besten ! |
