1 Paul et Timothée, serviteurs du Christ Jésus, à tous les saints dans le Christ Jésus qui sont à Philippes, aux évêques et aux diacres : 1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Jesus Christ; To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with theoverseers and servants : 1 Paulus und Timotheus, Knechte Jesu Christi, allen Heiligen in Christo Jesu zu Philippi samt den Bischöfen und Dienern :
2 grâce et paix de la part de Dieu notre Père et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ ! 2 Grace to you, and peace from God, our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Gnade sei mit euch und Friede von Gott, unserm Vater, und dem Herrn Jesus Christus !
3 Je rends grâces à mon Dieu toutes les fois que je me souviens de vous, et dans toutes mes prières pour vous tous, 3 I thank my God whenever I remember you, 3 Ich danke meinem Gott, so oft ich euer gedenke
4 c’est avec joie que je lui adresse ma prière, 4 always in every request of mine on behalf of you all making my requests with joy, 4 (welches ich allezeit tue in allem meinem Gebet für euch alle, und tue das Gebet mit Freuden),
5 à cause de votre concours unanime pour le progrès de l’Évangile, depuis le premier jours jusqu’à présent ; 5 for yourpartnership in furtherance of the Good News from the first day until now; 5 über eure Gemeinschaft am Evangelium vom ersten Tage an bis her,
6 et j’ai confiance que celui qui a commencé en vous une œuvre excellente, en poursuivra l’achèvement jusqu’au jour du Christ. 6 being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. 6 und bin desselben in guter Zuversicht, daß, der in euch angefangen hat das gute Werk, der wird’s auch vollführen bis an den Tag Jesu Christi.
7 C’est une justice que je vous dois, de penser ainsi de vous tous, parce que je vous porte dans mon cœur, vous tous qui, soit dans mes liens, soit dans la défense et l’affermissement de l’Évangile, avez part à la même grâce que moi. 7 It is even right for me to think this way on behalf of all of you, because I have you in my heart, because, both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the Good News, you all are partakers with me of grace. 7 Wie es denn mir billig ist, daß ich dermaßen von euch halte, darum daß ich euch in meinem Herzen habe in diesem meinem Gefängnis, darin ich das Evangelium verantworte und bekräftige, als die ihr alle mit mir der Gnade teilhaftig seid.
8 Car Dieu m’en est témoin, c’est avec tendresse que je vous aime tous dans les entrailles de Jésus-Christ. 8 For God is my witness, how I long after all of you in the tender mercies of Christ Jesus. 8 Denn Gott ist mein Zeuge, wie mich nach euch allen verlangt von Herzensgrund in Jesu Christo.
9 Et ce que je lui demande, c’est que votre charité abonde de plus en plus en connaissance et en toute intelligence, 9 This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment; 9 Und darum bete ich, daß eure Liebe je mehr und mehr reich werde in allerlei Erkenntnis und Erfahrung,
10 pour discerner ce qui vaut le mieux, afin que vous soyez purs et irréprochables jusqu’au jour du Christ, 10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ; 10 daß ihr prüfen möget, was das Beste sei, auf daß ihr seid lauter und unanstößig auf den Tag Christi,
11 remplis des fruits de justice, par Jésus-Christ, pour la gloire et la louange de Dieu. 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. 11 erfüllt mit Früchten der Gerechtigkeit, die durch Jesum Christum geschehen in euch zur Ehre und Lobe Gottes.
12 Frères, je désire que vous sachiez que ce qui m’est arrivé a plutôt tourné au progrès de l’Évangile. 12 Now I desire to have you know,brothers, that the things which happened to me have turned out rather to the progress of the Good News; 12 Ich lasse euch aber wissen, liebe Brüder, daß, wie es um mich steht, das ist nur mehr zur Förderung des Evangeliums geraten,
13 En effet, pour ceux du prétoire, et pour tous les autres, il est devenu notoire que c’est pour le Christ que je suis dans les chaînes : 13 so that it became evident to the whole praetorian guard, and to all the rest, that my bonds are in Christ; 13 also daß meine Bande offenbar geworden sind in Christo in dem ganzen Richthause und bei den andern allen,
14 et la plupart des frères dans le Seigneur, encouragés par mes liens, ont redoublé de hardiesse pour annoncer sans crainte la parole de Dieu. 14 and that most of the brothers in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear. 14 und viele Brüder in dem Herrn aus meinen Banden Zuversicht gewonnen haben und desto kühner geworden sind, das Wort zu reden ohne Scheu.
15 Quelques-uns, il est vrai, prêchent aussi Jésus-Christ par envie et par esprit d’opposition ; mais d’autres le font avec des dispositions bienveillantes. 15 Some indeed preach Christ even out of envy and strife, and some also out of good will. 15 Etliche zwar predigen Christum um des Neides und Haders willen, etliche aber aus guter Meinung.
16 Ceux-ci agissent par charité, sachant que je suis établi pour la défense de l’Évangile ; 16 The former insincerely preach Christ from selfish ambition, thinking that they add affliction to my chains; 16 Jene verkündigen Christum aus Zank und nicht lauter ; denn sie meinen, sie wollen eine Trübsal zuwenden meinen Banden ;
17 tandis que les autres, animés d’un esprit de dispute, annoncent le Christ par des motifs qui ne sont pas purs, avec la pensée de me causer un surcroît d’affliction dans mes liens. 17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the Good News. 17 diese aber aus Liebe ; denn sie wissen, daß ich zur Verantwortung des Evangeliums hier liege.
18 Mais quoi ? De quelque manière qu’on le fasse, que ce soit avec des arrière-pensées, ou sincèrement, le Christ est annoncé : je m’en réjouis, et je m’en réjouirai encore. 18 What does it matter? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed. I rejoice in this, yes, and will rejoice. 18 Was tut’s aber ? Daß nur Christus verkündigt werde allerleiweise, es geschehe zum Vorwand oder in Wahrheit, so freue ich mich doch darin und will mich auch freuen.
19 Car je sais que cela tournera à mon salut, grâce à vos prières et à l’assistance de l’Esprit de Jésus-Christ : 19 For I know that this will turn out to my salvation, through your supplication and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, 19 Denn ich weiß, daß mir dies gelingt zur Seligkeit durch euer Gebet und durch Handreichung des Geistes Jesu Christi,
20 selon l’attente où je suis et l’espérance que j’ai que je ne serai confondu en rien ; mais que, maintenant comme toujours, avec la plus entière assurance, le Christ sera glorifié dans mon corps, soit par ma vie, soit par ma mort ; 20 according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will in no way be disappointed, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death. 20 wie ich sehnlich warte und hoffe, daß ich in keinerlei Stück zu Schanden werde, sondern daß mit aller Freudigkeit, gleichwie sonst allezeit also auch jetzt, Christus hoch gepriesen werde an meinem Leibe, es sei durch Leben oder durch Tod.
21 car le Christ est ma vie, et la mort m’est un gain. 21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 21 Denn Christus ist mein Leben, und Sterben ist mein Gewinn.
22 Cependant si en vivant plus longtemps dans la chair je dois tirer du fruit, je ne sais que choisir. 22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will bring fruit from my work; yet I don't know what I will choose. 22 Sintemal aber im Fleisch leben dient, mehr Frucht zu schaffen, so weiß ich nicht, welches ich erwählen soll.
23 Je suis pressé des deux côtés : j’ai le désir de partir et d’être avec le Christ, ce qui est de beaucoup le meilleur ; 23 But I am in a dilemma between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. 23 Denn es liegt mir beides hart an : ich habe Lust, abzuscheiden und bei Christo zu sein, was auch viel besser wäre ;
24 mais il est plus nécessaire que je demeure dans la chair à cause de vous. 24 Yet, to remain in the flesh is more needful for your sake. 24 aber es ist nötiger, im Fleisch bleiben um euretwillen.
25 Et je le sais, j’en ai l’assurance, je demeurerai et je resterai avec vous tous, pour l’avancement et pour la joie de votre foi, 25 Having this confidence, I know that I will remain, yes, and remain with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, 25 Und in guter Zuversicht weiß ich, daß ich bleiben und bei euch allen sein werde, euch zur Förderung und Freude des Glaubens,
26 afin que, par mon retour auprès de vous, vous ayez en moi un abondant sujet de vous glorifier en Jésus-Christ. 26 that your rejoicing may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence with you again. 26 auf daß ihr euch sehr rühmen möget in Christo Jesu an mir, wenn ich wieder zu euch komme.
27 Seulement, conduisez-vous d’une manière digne de l’Évangile du Christ, afin que, soit que je vienne et que je vous voie, soit que je demeure absent, j’entende dire de vous que vous tenez ferme dans un seul et même esprit, combattant d’un même cœur pour la foi de l’Évangile, 27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the Good News of Christ, that, whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your state, that you stand firm in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the Good News; 27 Wandelt nur würdig dem Evangelium Christi, auf daß, ob ich komme und sehe euch oder abwesend von euch höre, ihr steht in einem Geist und einer Seele und samt uns kämpfet für den Glauben des Evangeliums
28 sans vous laisser aucunement intimider par les adversaires : c’est là pour eux un signe de ruine, mais pour vous, de salut, et par la volonté de Dieu. 28 and in nothing frightened by the adversaries, which is for them a proof of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God. 28 und euch in keinem Weg erschrecken lasset von den Widersachern, welches ist ein Anzeichen, ihnen der Verdammnis, euch aber der Seligkeit, und das von Gott.
29 Car c’est une grâce qu’il vous a faite, à vous, à l’égard du Christ, non seulement de croire en lui, mais encore de souffrir pour lui, 29 Because it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer on his behalf, 29 Denn euch ist gegeben, um Christi willen zu tun, daß ihr nicht allein an ihn glaubet sondern auch um seinetwillen leidet ;
30 en soutenant le même combat que vous m’avez vu soutenir, et que, vous le savez, je soutiens encore aujourd’hui. 30 having the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear is in me. 30 und habet denselben Kampf, welchen ihr an mir gesehen habt und nun von mir höret.

1 Si donc il est quelque encouragement dans le Christ, s’il est quelque consolation de charité, s’il est quelque communauté d’esprit, s’il est quelque tendresse et quelque compassion, 1 If there is therefore any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassion, 1 Ist nun bei euch Ermahnung in Christo, ist Trost der Liebe, ist Gemeinschaft des Geistes, ist herzliche Liebe und Barmherzigkeit,
2 rendez ma joie parfaite : ayez une même pensée, un même amour, une même âme, un même sentiment. 2 make my joy full, by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind; 2 so erfüllet meine Freude, daß ihr eines Sinnes seid, gleiche Liebe habt, einmütig und einhellig seid.
3 Ne faites rien par esprit de rivalité ou par vaine gloire ; mais que chacun, en toute humilité, regarde les autres comme au-dessus de soi ; 3 doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; 3 Nichts tut durch Zank oder eitle Ehre ; sondern durch Demut achte einer den andern höher denn sich selbst,
4 chacun ayant égard, non à ses propres intérêts, mais à ceux des autres. 4 each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others. 4 und ein jeglicher sehe nicht auf das Seine, sondern auch auf das, was des andern ist.
5 Ayez en vous les mêmes sentiments dont était animé le Christ Jésus : 5 Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus, 5 Ein jeglicher sei gesinnt, wie Jesus Christus auch war :
6 bien qu’il fût dans la condition de Dieu, il n’a pas retenu avidement son égalité avec Dieu ; 6 who, existing in the form of God, didn't consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, 6 welcher, ob er wohl in göttlicher Gestalt war, hielt er’s nicht für einen Raub, Gott gleich sein,
7 mais il s’est anéanti lui-même, en prenant la condition d’esclave, en se rendant semblable aux hommes, et reconnu pour homme par tout ce qui a paru de lui ; 7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. 7 sondern entäußerte sich selbst und nahm Knechtsgestalt an, ward gleich wie ein andrer Mensch und an Gebärden als ein Mensch erfunden ;
8 il s’est abaissé lui-même, se faisant obéissant jusqu’à la mort, et à la mort de la croix. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, yes, the death of the cross. 8 er erniedrigte sich selbst und ward gehorsam bis zum Tode, ja zum Tode am Kreuz.
9 C’est pourquoi aussi Dieu l’a souverainement élevé, et lui a donné le nom qui est au-dessus de tout nom, 9 Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; 9 Darum hat ihn auch Gott erhöht und hat ihm einen Namen gegeben, der über alle Namen ist,
10 afin qu’au nom de Jésus tout genou fléchisse dans les cieux, sur la terre et dans les enfers, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, 10 daß in dem Namen Jesu sich beugen aller derer Kniee, die im Himmel und auf Erden und unter der Erde sind,
11 et que toute langue confesse, à la gloire de Dieu le Père, que Jésus-Christ est Seigneur. 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 11 und alle Zungen bekennen sollen, daß Jesus Christus der Herr sei, zur Ehre Gottes, des Vaters.
12 Ainsi, mes bien-aimés, comme vous avez toujours été obéissants, travaillez à votre salut avec crainte et tremblement, non seulement comme en ma présence, mais bien plus encore maintenant que je suis absent ; 12 So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 12 Also, meine Liebsten, wie ihr allezeit seid gehorsam gewesen, nicht allein in meiner Gegenwart sondern auch nun viel mehr in meiner Abwesenheit, schaffet, daß ihr selig werdet, mit Furcht und Zittern.
13 car c’est Dieu qui opère en vous le vouloir et le faire, selon son bon plaisir. 13 For it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure. 13 Denn Gott ist’s, der in euch wirkt beides, das Wollen und das Vollbringen, nach seinem Wohlgefallen.
14 Agissez en tout sans murmures ni hésitations, 14 Do all things without murmurings and disputes, 14 Tut alles ohne Murren und ohne Zweifel,
15 afin que vous soyez sans reproche, simples, enfants de Dieu irrépréhensibles au milieu de ce peuple pervers et corrompu, dans le sein duquel vous brillez comme des flambeaux dans le monde, 15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you are seen as lights in the world, 15 auf daß ihr seid ohne Tadel und lauter und Gottes Kinder, unsträflich mitten unter dem unschlachtigen und verkehrten Geschlecht, unter welchem ihr scheinet als Lichter in der Welt,
16 étant en possession de la parole de vie ; et ainsi je pourrai me glorifier, au jour du Christ, de n’avoir pas couru en vain, ni travaillé en vain. 16 holding up the word of life; that I may have something to boast in the day of Christ, that I didn't run in vain nor labor in vain. 16 damit daß ihr haltet an dem Wort des Lebens, mir zu einem Ruhm an dem Tage Christi, als der ich nicht vergeblich gelaufen noch vergeblich gearbeitet habe.
17 Et même dût mon sang servir de libation dans le sacrifice et dans le service de votre foi, je m’en réjouis et vous en félicite. 17 Yes, and if I am poured out on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice, and rejoice with you all. 17 Und ob ich geopfert werde über dem Opfer und Gottesdienst eures Glaubens, so freue ich mich und freue mich mit euch allen.
18 Vous aussi réjouissez-vous-en et m’en félicitez. 18 In the same way, you also rejoice, and rejoice with me. 18 Dessen sollt ihr euch auch freuen und sollt euch mit mir freuen.
19 J’espère dans le Seigneur Jésus vous envoyer bientôt Timothée, afin de me sentir moi-même plein de courage en apprenant de vos nouvelles. 19 But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered up when I know how you are doing. 19 Ich hoffe aber in dem Herrn Jesus, daß ich Timotheus bald werde zu euch senden, daß ich auch erquickt werde, wenn ich erfahre, wie es um euch steht.
20 Car je n’ai personne qui me soit tant uni de sentiments, pour prendre sincèrement à cœur ce qui vous concerne ; 20 For I have no one else like-minded, who will truly care about you. 20 Denn ich habe keinen, der so gar meines Sinnes sei, der so herzlich für euch sorgt.
21 tous, en effet, ont en vue leurs propres intérêts, et non ceux de Jésus-Christ. 21 For they all seek their own, not the things of Jesus Christ. 21 Denn sie suchen alle das ihre, nicht, das Christi Jesu ist.
22 Vous savez qu’il est d’une vertu éprouvée, qu’il s’est dévoué avec moi, comme un enfant avec son père, au service de l’Évangile. 22 But you know the proof of him, that, as a child serves a father, so he served with me in furtherance of the Good News. 22 Ihr aber wisset, daß er rechtschaffen ist ; denn wie ein Kind dem Vater hat er mir gedient am Evangelium.
23 J’espère donc vous l’envoyer dès que j’apercevrai l’issue de ma situation ; 23 Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it will go with me. 23 Ihn, hoffe ich, werde ich senden von Stund an, wenn ich erfahren habe, wie es um mich steht.
24 et j’espère également du Seigneur que moi-même aussi je pourrai venir bientôt. 24 But I trust in the Lord that I myself also will come shortly. 24 Ich vertraue aber in dem Herrn, daß auch ich selbst bald kommen werde.
25 En attendant j’ai cru nécessaire de vous envoyer Epaphrodite mon frère, le compagnon de mes travaux et de mes combats, qui était venu de votre part pour subvenir à mes besoins. 25 But I counted it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, fellow soldier, and your apostle and servant of my need; 25 Ich habe es aber für nötig angesehen, den Bruder Epaphroditus zu euch zu senden, der mein Gehilfe und Mitstreiter und euer Gesandter und meiner Notdurft Diener ist ;
26 Car il désirait vous revoir tous, et il était fort en peine de ce que vous aviez appris sa maladie. 26 since he longed for you all, and was very troubled, because you had heard that he was sick. 26 sintemal er nach euch allen Verlangen hatte und war hoch bekümmert, darum daß ihr gehört hattet, daß er krank war gewesen.
27 Il a été, en effet, malade à mourir ; mais Dieu a eu pitié de lui et non pas seulement de lui, mais aussi de moi, afin que je n’eusse pas tristesse sur tristesse. 27 For indeed he was sick, nearly to death, but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, that I might not have sorrow on sorrow. 27 Und er war todkrank, aber Gott hat sich über ihn erbarmt ; nicht allein aber über ihn, sondern auch über mich, auf daß ich nicht eine Traurigkeit über die andern hätte.
28 J’ai donc mis plus d’empressement à vous l’envoyer, afin que la joie vous revînt en le voyant, et que moi-même je fusse moins triste. 28 I have sent him therefore the more diligently, that, when you see him again, you may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful. 28 Ich habe ihn aber desto eilender gesandt, auf daß ihr ihn seht und wieder fröhlich werdet und ich auch der Traurigkeit weniger habe.
29 Recevez-le donc dans le Seigneur, avec une joie entière, et honorez de tels hommes. 29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all joy, and hold such in honor, 29 So nehmet ihn nun auf in dem Herrn mit allen Freuden und habt solche Leute in Ehren.
30 Car c’est pour l’œuvre du Christ qu’il a été près de la mort, ayant mis sa vie en jeu, afin de vous suppléer dans le service que vous ne pouviez me rendre. 30 because for the work of Christ he came near to death, risking his life to supply that which was lacking in your service toward me. 30 Denn um des Werkes Christi willen ist er dem Tode so nahe gekommen, da er sein Leben gering bedachte, auf daß er mir diente an eurer Statt.

1 Du reste, mes frères, réjouissez-vous dans le Seigneur. — Vous écrire les mêmes choses ne me coûte pas et à vous cela est salutaire. 1 Finally, mybrothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not tiresome, but for you it is safe. 1 Weiter, liebe Brüder, freuet euch in dem Herrn ! Daß ich euch immer einerlei schreibe, verdrießt mich nicht und macht euch desto gewisser.
2 Prenez garde à ces chiens, prenez garde à ces mauvais ouvriers, prenez garde à ces mutilés. 2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision. 2 Sehet auf die Hunde, sehet auf die bösen Arbeiter, sehet auf die Zerschneidung !
3 Car c’est nous qui sommes les vrais circoncis, nous qui par l’esprit de Dieu lui rendons un culte, qui mettons notre gloire dans le Christ Jésus et ne nous confions point dans la chair. 3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh; 3 Denn wir sind die Beschneidung, die wir Gott im Geiste dienen und rühmen uns von Christo Jesu und verlassen uns nicht auf Fleisch,
4 Et pourtant quant à moi, j’aurais sujet de mettre aussi ma confiance dans la chair. Si quelqu’autre croit pouvoir le faire, je le puis bien davantage, moi, 4 though I myself might have confidence even in the flesh. If any other man thinks that he has confidence in the flesh, I yet more: 4 wiewohl ich auch habe, daß ich mich Fleisches rühmen könnte. So ein anderer sich dünken läßt, er könnte sich Fleisches rühmen, ich könnte es viel mehr :
5 un circoncis du huitième jour, de la race d’Israël, de la tribu de Benjamin ; Hébreu, fils d’Hébreux ; pharisien, pour ce qui est de la Loi ; 5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; 5 der ich am achten Tag beschnitten bin, einer aus dem Volk von Israel, des Geschlechts Benjamin, ein Hebräer von Hebräern und nach dem Gesetz ein Pharisäer,
6 persécuteur de l’Église, pour ce qui est du zèle, et quant à la justice de la Loi, irréprochable. 6 concerning zeal, persecuting the assembly; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless. 6 nach dem Eifer ein Verfolger der Gemeinde, nach der Gerechtigkeit im Gesetz gewesen unsträflich.
7 Mais ces titres qui étaient pour moi de précieux avantages, je les ai considérés comme un préjudice à cause du Christ. 7 However, what things were gain to me, these have I counted loss for Christ. 7 Aber was mir Gewinn war, das habe ich um Christi willen für Schaden geachtet.
8 Oui certes, et même je tiens encore tout cela comme un préjudice, eu égard au prix éminent de la connaissance du Christ Jésus mon Seigneur. Pour son amour j’ai voulu tout perdre, regardant toutes choses comme de la balayure, afin de gagner le Christ, 8 Yes most certainly, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and count them nothing but refuse, that I may gain Christ 8 Ja, ich achte es noch alles für Schaden gegen die überschwengliche Erkenntnis Christi Jesu, meines Herrn, um welches willen ich alles habe für Schaden gerechnet, und achte es für Kot, auf daß ich Christum gewinne
9 et d’être trouvé en lui, non avec ma propre justice, — c’est celle qui vient de la Loi, — mais avec celle qui naît de la foi dans le Christ, la justice qui vient de Dieu par la foi ; 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 9 und in ihm erfunden werde, daß ich nicht habe meine Gerechtigkeit, die aus dem Gesetz, sondern die durch den Glauben an Christum kommt, nämlich die Gerechtigkeit, die von Gott dem Glauben zugerechnet wird,
10 afin de le connaître, lui et la vertu de sa résurrection, d’être admis à la communion de ses souffrances, en lui devenant conforme dans sa mort, 10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed to his death; 10 zu erkennen ihn und die Kraft seiner Auferstehung und die Gemeinschaft seiner Leiden, daß ich seinem Tode ähnlich werde,
11 pour parvenir, si je le puis, à la résurrection des morts. 11 if by any means I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. 11 damit ich gelange zur Auferstehung der Toten.
12 Ce n’est pas que j’aie déjà saisi le prix, ou que j’aie déjà atteint la perfection ; mais je poursuis ma course pour tâcher de le saisir, puisque j’ai été saisi moi-même par le Christ. 12 Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect; but I press on, if it is so that I may take hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by Christ Jesus. 12 Nicht, daß ich’s schon ergriffen habe oder schon vollkommen sei ; ich jage ihm aber nach, ob ich’s auch ergreifen möchte, nachdem ich von Christo Jesu ergriffen bin.
13 Pour moi, frères, je ne pense pas l’avoir saisi, mais je ne fais qu’une chose : oubliant ce qui est derrière moi, et me portant de tout moi-même vers ce qui est en avant, 13 Brothers, I don't regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, 13 Meine Brüder, ich schätze mich selbst noch nicht, daß ich’s : Ich vergesse, was dahinten ist, ergriffen habe. Eines aber sage ich und strecke mich zu dem, was da vorne ist,
14 je cours droit au but, pour remporter le prix auquel Dieu m’a appelé d’en haut en Jésus-Christ. 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 14 und jage nach dem vorgesteckten Ziel, nach dem Kleinod, welches vorhält die himmlische Berufung Gottes in Christo Jesu.
15 Que ce soient là nos sentiments, à nous tous qui sommes arrivés à l’âge d’homme ; et si, sur quelque point, vous avez des pensées différentes, Dieu vous éclairera aussi là-dessus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, think this way. If in anything you think otherwise, God will also reveal that to you. 15 Wie viele nun unser vollkommen sind, die lasset uns also gesinnt sein. Und solltet ihr sonst etwas halten, das lasset euch Gott offenbaren ;
16 Seulement, du point où nous sommes arrivés, marchons comme nous l’avons déjà fait jusqu’ici. 16 Nevertheless, to the extent that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule. Let us be of the same mind. 16 doch soferne, daß wir nach derselben Regel, darin wir gekommen sind, wandeln und gleich gesinnt seien.
17 Vous aussi, frères, soyez mes imitateurs, et ayez les yeux sur ceux qui marchent suivant le modèle que vous avez en nous. 17 Brothers, be imitators together of me, and note those who walk this way, even as you have us for an example. 17 Folget mir, liebe Brüder, und sehet auf die, die also wandeln, wie ihr uns habt zum Vorbilde.
18 Car il en est plusieurs qui marchent en ennemis de la croix du Christ : je vous en ai souvent parlé, et j’en parle maintenant encore avec larmes. 18 For many walk, of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping, as the enemies of the cross of Christ, 18 Denn viele wandeln, von welchen ich euch oft gesagt habe, nun aber sage ich auch mit Weinen, daß sie sind die Feinde des Kreuzes Christi,
19 Leur fin, c’est la perdition, eux qui font leur Dieu de leur ventre, et mettent leur gloire dans ce qui fait leur honte, n’ayant de goût que pour les choses de la terre. 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who think about earthly things. 19 welcher Ende ist die Verdammnis, welchen der Bauch ihr Gott ist, und deren Ehre zu Schanden wird, die irdisch gesinnt sind.
20 Pour nous, notre cité est dans les cieux, d’où nous attendons aussi comme Sauveur le Seigneur Jésus-Christ, 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; 20 Unser Wandel aber ist im Himmel, von dannen wir auch warten des Heilands Jesu Christi, des Herrn,

1 C’est pourquoi, mes chers et bien-aimés frères, ma joie et ma couronne, tenez ainsi ferme dans le Seigneur, mes bien-aimés. 1 Therefore, my brothers, beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand firm in the Lord, my beloved. 1 Also, meine lieben und ersehnten Brüder, meine Freude und meine Krone, besteht also in dem Herrn, ihr Lieben.
2 J’exhorte Evodie et j’invite Syntyché à être en bonne intelligence dans le Seigneur. 2 I exhort Euodia, and I exhort Syntyche, to think the same way in the Lord. 2 Die Evodia ermahne ich, und die Syntyche ermahne ich, daß sie eines Sinnes seien in dem Herrn .
3 Et toi aussi, mon fidèle compagnon, je te prie de leur venir en aide, elles qui ont combattu pour l’Évangile avec moi, avec Clément, et mes autres collaborateurs dont les noms sont dans le livre de vie. 3 Yes, I beg you also, true yokefellow, help these women, for they labored with me in the Good News, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life. 3 Ja ich bitte auch dich, mein treuer Geselle, stehe ihnen bei, die samt mir für das Evangelium gekämpft haben, mit Klemens und meinen andern Gehilfen, welcher Namen sind in dem Buch des Lebens.
4 Réjouissez-vous dans le Seigneur en tout temps ; je le répète, réjouissez-vous. 4 Rejoice in the Lord always! Again I will say, Rejoice! 4 Freuet euch in dem Herrn allewege ! Und abermals sage ich : Freuet euch !
5 Que votre modération soit connue de tous les hommes : le Seigneur est proche. 5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 5 Eure Lindigkeit lasset kund sein allen Menschen ! der Herr ist nahe !
6 Ne vous inquiétez de rien ; mais en toute circonstance faites connaître vos besoins à Dieu par des prières et des supplications, avec des actions de grâce. 6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 6 Sorget nichts ! sondern in allen Dingen lasset eure Bitten im Gebet und Flehen mit Danksagung vor Gott kund werden.
7 Et la paix de Dieu, qui surpasse toute intelligence, gardera vos cœurs et vos pensées dans le Christ Jésus. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. 7 Und der Friede Gottes, welcher höher ist denn alle Vernunft, bewahre eure Herzen und Sinne in Christo Jesu !
8 Au reste, frères, que tout ce qui est vrai, tout ce qui est honorable, tout ce qui est juste, tout ce qui est pur, tout ce qui est aimable, tout ce qui est de bonne renommée, s’il est quelque vertu et s’il est quelque louange, que ce soit là l’objet de vos pensées ; 8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things. 8 Weiter, liebe Brüder, was wahrhaftig ist, was ehrbar, was gerecht, was keusch, was lieblich, was wohllautet, ist etwa eine Tugend, ist etwa ein Lob, dem denket nach !
9 ce que vous avez appris et reçu, ce que vous m’avez entendu dire et vu faire à moi-même, pratiquez-le, et le Dieu de paix sera avec vous. 9 The things which you learned, received, heard, and saw in me: do these things, and the God of peace will be with you. 9 Welches ihr auch gelernt und empfangen und gehört und gesehen habt an mir, das tut ; so wird der Gott des Friedens mit euch sein.
10 Je me suis vivement réjoui dans le Seigneur, de ce que j’ai vu refleurir enfin vos sentiments d’autrefois à mon égard ; vous les aviez bien, mais l’occasion vous avait manqué. 10 But I rejoice in the Lord greatly, that now at length you have revived your thought for me; in which you did indeed take thought, but you lacked opportunity. 10 Ich bin aber höchlich erfreut in dem Herrn, daß ihr wieder wacker geworden seid, für mich zu sorgen ; wiewohl ihr allewege gesorgt habt, aber die Zeit hat’s nicht wollen leiden.
11 Ce n’est pas à cause de mes besoins que je parle ainsi, car j’ai appris à me suffire avec ce que j’ai. 11 Not that I speak in respect to lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. 11 Nicht sage ich das des Mangels halben ; denn ich habe gelernt, worin ich bin, mir genügen zu lassen.
12 Je sais vivre dans le dénûment, et je sais vivre dans l’abondance. En tout et par tout j’ai appris à être rassasié et à avoir faim, à être dans l’abondance et à être dans la détresse. 12 I know how to be humbled, and I know also how to abound. In everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need. 12 Ich kann niedrig sein und kann hoch sein ; ich bin in allen Dingen und bei allen geschickt, beides, satt sein und hungern, beides, übrighaben und Mangel leiden.
13 Je puis tout en celui qui me fortifie. 13 I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. 13 Ich vermag alles durch den, der mich mächtig macht, Christus.
14 Cependant vous avez bien fait de prendre part à ma détresse. 14 However you did well that you shared in my affliction. 14 Doch ihr habt wohl getan, daß ihr euch meiner Trübsal angenommen habt.
15 Vous savez aussi, vous, Philippiens, que dans les débuts de ma prédication de l’Évangile, lorsque je quittai la Macédoine, aucune Église ne m’ouvrit un compte de Doit et Avoir, excepté vous seuls. 15 You yourselves also know, you Philippians, that in the beginning of the Good News, when I departed from Macedonia, no assembly shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you only. 15 Ihr aber von Philippi wisset, daß von Anfang des Evangeliums, da ich auszog aus Mazedonien, keine Gemeinde mit mir geteilt hat nach der Rechnung der Ausgabe und Einnahme als ihr allein.
16 Car vous m’avez envoyé à Thessalonique, une première fois, puis une seconde, de quoi subvenir à mes besoins. 16 For even in Thessalonica you sent once and again to my need. 16 Denn auch gen Thessalonich sandtet ihr zu meiner Notdurft einmal und darnach noch einmal.
17 Ce n’est pas que je recherche les dons ; ce que je recherche, c’est le fruit qui va s’augmentant à votre compte. 17 Not that I seek for the gift, but I seek for the fruit that increases to your account. 17 Nicht, daß ich das Geschenk suche ; sondern ich suche die Frucht, daß sie reichlich in eurer Rechnung sei.
18 Maintenant j’ai abondamment de tout, et je suis dans l’abondance ; je suis comblé, ayant reçu d’Epaphrodite ce qui vient de vous, comme un parfum de bonne odeur, une hostie que Dieu accepte et qui lui est agréable. 18 But I have all things, and abound. I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things that came from you, a sweet-smelling fragrance, an acceptable and well-pleasing sacrifice to God. 18 Denn ich habe alles und habe überflüssig. Ich habe die Fülle, da ich : ein süßer empfing durch Epaphroditus, was von euch kam Geruch, ein angenehmes Opfer, Gott gefällig.
19 Et mon Dieu pourvoira à tous vos besoins, selon sa richesse, avec gloire, dans le Christ Jésus. 19 My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. 19 Mein Gott aber fülle aus alle eure Notdurft nach seinem Reichtum in der Herrlichkeit in Christo Jesu.
20 A notre Dieu et Père, soit la gloire aux siècles des siècles ! Amen ! 20 Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever! Amen. 20 Gott aber, unserm Vater, sei Ehre von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit ! Amen.
21 Saluez en Jésus-Christ tous les saints. Les frères qui sont avec moi vous saluent. 21 Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me greet you. 21 Grüßet alle Heiligen in Christo Jesu. Es grüßen euch die Brüder, die bei mir sind.
22 Tous les saints vous saluent, et principalement ceux de la maison de César. 22 All the saints greet you, especially those who are of Caesar's household. 22 Es grüßen euch alle Heiligen, sonderlich aber die von des Kaisers Hause.
23 Que la grâce du Seigneur Jésus-Christ soit avec votre esprit ! 23 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. 23 Die Gnade unsers Herrn Jesu Christi sei mit euch allen ! Amen.
